On Saturday I returned the concept of discipline to my life. I started the day by stepping onto a scale for the first time in months, and needless to say, I was displeased.
It wasn’t until about 6:45am yesterday when I saw the first signs of daybreak that I remembered the clocks went back an hour. What a bunch of nonsense that will most likely never get resolved in my lifetime; see also: southside BeltLine.
Wordle: four, my starter was GRAVY
I should be out combing the neighborhood for discarded pumpkins which could be added to WLF’s compost… but I’m not up to it.
Related: my body has stopped processing spicy foods well, and is making me start to reconsider my eating habits.
Wordle in 5.
A fun weekend in Pittsburgh. Saturday, we toured the zoo and aquarium. Lots of animals off display, but still fun. Dinner at McCormick and Schmicks, then Bugs Bunny at the Symphony. Sunday, brunch and a walk, the glass ornament blowing at a glass studio. Very fun. A very walkable area that is on the upswing.
Debbie is having animal withdrawal so we must come home.

McCormick and Schmicks? Don’t those exist in Georgia? Seems as if you missed a grand opportunity to eat somewhere/something that only exists in the Burgh. I’ll even give you a pass for skipping on Primanti Bros, the sandwich shop known for piling French fries into their sandwiches…
I’ve done a place before that did the whole FF on the sandwich. M&S was convenient to the hall, andnot Mortons, which Debbie would have enjoyed more (cow).

Didn’t think I’d be saying this today, but my house is warm, even though the thermostat still reads 62°F. It’s because I am baking a casserole for lunch, so the oven has been cranking at 350°F for about an hour.
At the airport. 1.5 hour wait. With TSA and air traffic controllers going unpaid, we aren’t risking it.
New Orleans airport ran smoothly- 15 minutes tops to get bags checked & thru Prechek line. Got a breakfast sandwich at Shake Shack. It was tasty.
Interam was a good time. Saw lots of old friends, trails were only so so.
I think the costs of trying to put on a big event were pretty crazy, I wonder how Orlando will figure it out in 2 years. Everything was fine, but we all joked that out $269 rego fee was really high for what we actually got.
We had a lovely 38th floor hotel room. (That of course we paid for.)
Sounds like a good time. I don’t know how anyone plans events any longer. It seems like the country is one big unknown, or perhaps I’m just being overdramatic.
First Monday of the month means I spent all morning in the faculty meeting. Good times.
Good weekend. Friday I skipped out of work early and met Kevin at Moe’s & Joe’s for pre-dinner drinks followed by our 5:00 pm reservation at La Tavola. Obviously the goal was to avoid trick-or-treaters and we succeeded. Saturday we went to Six Feet and had a leisurely lunch, then went home and watched football all afternoon. Sunday was football watching and then I made stuffed shells and stuffed peppers which I will be eating for lunch all week. I have made stuffed peppers a million times so that was fine, but I had never made stuffed shells before. I didn’t bother looking up a recipe and they came out pretty good.
I wound up at West Side Pizza yesterday after hanging out with friends for a Day of the Dead gathering at Betsy’s. Football watching and beer drinking ensued, and completed with an unexpected drive home in rain.
