I’m headed to a remote DMV, which I believe is correctly called a DDS, in order to renew my drivers license. Wish me luck. I suppose I could have attempted this online, but I’d rather go and get it done in person. Besides, this gets me out of the house today.
Wordle: five, I’m sure everyone else will get it in two, my starter was COUPE
…third.

HAH!
Good morning from Boothbay Harbor.
Scored a great room with 2 rooms & 3 beds.
(Was hoping it was a nice & big as it looked on the internet, and it is.)
Traffic was what we expected, slow & busy getting here.
Stopped at a couple breweries on the way.
Weather was overcast, a little drizzly, in the low 70s.
It’s actually raining this morning.
I think we might go find a couple wineries north of us, stop in Camden & not sure where else.
Three beds for two people? Who are you, a Kardashian? 😀
Ummmm, Connie & Maya are with us.
Well, how was I supposed to know that? 😛
Wordle in 5! Whiff on my starter and whiff on my second guess. 4 out of 5 correct in 3!
Debbie brought home a “large” bale of hay yesterday (6’x8’x3′) and with some difficulty, moved it into the mac cave last night. Even with the tractor, 1800 pounds is tough to move.
After the upper body workout of moving the bale, I went for a quick ride on the recently repaired gravel bike. Barb, please relay my thanks again to Allan. No crank noise and the new tires are sweet.
Debbie has decided we need to put some highway miles on the big truck, as it’s needs recalibration. We’re off to Buc-ees for fuel and DEF and dinner in Auburn later this evening. Oh. Boy.

Because I was angry with myself I put the bike on the trainer and did 45 minutes yesterday. I need much more than that.
And this recalibration & DEF is why Allan decided on a gas engine for our new truck.
What is DEF?
Diesel? Sort of, it’s a fuel additive for diesel fuel.
Diesel Emission Fluid (I think). Newer diesel engines use it to reduce emissions. It’s a selling point for older trucks that are “non-DEF”.
And Buc-ee’s has DEF right on their diesel pumps, so it’s really handy.
DEF is basically a fluid that gets sprayed in to the exhaust of a diesel engine to reduce a certain pollutant. From what I understand it is a total pain in the ass and causes all sorts of other issues.
Hello from Conyers, GA where I await the opening of the DDS with a full belly of biscuits from Mamie’s Biscuits.
License renewal successful, but the reason to visit DDS failed since they are mailing the license to me. There was no way to get it immediately.
I went to DDS in person and they had to mail mine, too. I don’t know how long it took because I was out of the country when it arrived. I went there first thing on a Friday morning and it had not arrived when I left on my trip 9 days later (we left on a Sunday so I supposed it could have come the next day, who knows).
I was told “within thirty days” which is rather disappointing for me. I know that I will be making at least one excursion, and possibly another, in that period. So, I might have to have my mail held, or install a locking mailbox.
I had dinner with my former boss last night, she had a year of sabbatical but now that is over and she is officially retiring. We got to laugh about some good gossip, it was fun.
Today I am working remotely! Currently at the dining room table in my jammies! Woo hoo!
Always good to work in jammies. I rarely get dressed until I need to leave the house
At a breakfast place called Blue Moon Cafe. I am not getting a beer. 😉
Lame.
What Jenka said! Lol
They didn’t sell any
And I thought Mainers were hardcore. Pffft!
It was a breakfast only place.
Bowling last night was terrible again, I really need to get some more practice in to get my game back to where I was.
Tonight is ramble night, need to get my fat ass on the bike more as I’m getting lazy. Saturday I’m doing a celebration of life ride for a hooligan that passed a while back (Michael Horowitz, former owner of Alpha bikes if you had not heard). We are spreading some of his ashes at the top of Bull Mountain, that climb is going to hurt. Maybe I need to break in to Barb’s house and “borrow” an E-bike 🙂
I considered bringing my bike to Conyers and doing a ride this morning, but didn’t get my shit together.
Also, today will be a sauce making day, so being home again early isn’t the worse thing for my day.
Allan said ask – he’d let you.
I would but it would be VERY expensive as I would want to buy one 🙂
WLF caught about 0.5” of rain yesterday. The radar made it look as if I’d get much more than that.
More critter damage, of course, causing me to pick some jumbo tomatoes while green. Might make fried green tomato and green pepper tonight.
The best BLT I’ve ever had used a fried green tomato instead of a regular tomato. It was amazing.
We are Ed C off to find a Maine winery or 2 today
I’ve never had Maine wine, I feel like it’s too cold there to make anything but sweet wine. You must report back!
The retirement wheels are officially in motion. Applied for Social Security and started the process with the Fed. And for some reason, I thought my 401k would be used as part of my retirement funding, but NO!! Not touched! That’s a nice surprise.
SPOILER ALERT
‘merican second on the stage!!
So you’re getting, like, a pension from the Fed? That is wonderful!
Exactly! A rarity these days…
Hummingbird seen at the feeder — YAY!
Hummingbird Feeder is still leaking — BOOO!
New hummingbird feeder ordered from Amazon — UGH.
We have several that aren’t in use, if you’d like one or six.
Thanks, but I have already placed the order.
Winery & distillery visited.
Went- only so so.
Gin – excellent. Whisky- so so.
I am making tomato sauce, using WLF tomatoes this time, and am once again humbled by the amount of tomatoes needed to make any amount of sauce. I had about five pounds today, because another five or so pounds are still frozen.
While I work I continue to line Jeff Bezo’s pockets by adding things to the orders which should arrive next week. Latest purchase, food grade spray bottles.
2nd winery- very bougie- wine was good enough, little charcuterie boxes Tasty.
The to the Rockland breakwater lighthouse- a very cool mile walk on the breakwater rocks out to it.
Now to a place called Red’s Eats for lobster rolls & back to the hotel to eat them & drink some wine we bought at a little store.
