I knew the bitter cold would drive up my natural gas bill, and I was unfortunately correct. Even with all of my miserly tendencies — dropping the setting on the thermostat, and wearing sweaters indoors — my upcoming bill is high. I’d hate to see what it would be had I not done these things.

Scana Energy, or more specifically their billing processor BillMatrix, says that I can pay using ApplePay, but I really can’t. Every time I attempt to make my natural gas payment using ApplePay it fails saying that they are unable to process my payment at this time.

Many more expenses ahead!

For dinner last night I made “Andouille and Chicken Jambalaya” from “Louisiana Real & Rustic” by Emeril Lagasse. It is a recipe I’ve made many times before, and it was predictably delicious.

Wordle in 6 and had help from the NYT.

I have decided I am unable to sharpen chain saw chains. And I’ve tried. I tried 3 times yesterday and was still just getting sawdust (instead of chips flying). Will seek out a real hardware store that does it.

Pulled the trigger on a new TV. While Costco had several 68” over $1k, last years model was $349. I actually thought IT had a more realistic picture. I guess I’m not trendy enough to pay triple the price.

That is a great deal! Last year we thought about getting rid of our two 55″ TVs and replacing it with one larger TV, but we decided having two TVs is better. We can watch two games at once. Apparently we are modern-day rednecks!

Allan takes our chain saw blades to the TruValue (big Stihl dealer) by the Marietta Square – those guys have been in business I think 100 years.
Its like $6 a chain, well, well, well worth it.

      We’ve talked about getting a new TV – but ours hasn’t broken…….

We are still rocking that 80 inch monster TV Laura found at Goodwill for $130. It has a small smudge on the screen that we don’t notice anymore and the wireless sucks so we are using a fire stick but for what we paid it is 100% worth it 🙂

I will sharpen a chainsaw chain in the field if I hit the ground or if I’m cutting all day and need to but paying a Stihl dealer to do it for me is definitely worth the money. They have the tools and know-how to get it done quickly and correctly.

I have a similar problem using Apple Pay for the parking outside of the General Muir. It’s not Parkmobile or any company I’ve ever heard of. But in this case I think it’s the app itself that is tetchy.

Taco Tuesday at Barbacoa was wicked crowded last night so we waited for seats at the bar. The bartender used to work at Taco Mac back when we were regulars and we’ve been friends with him since, so he just hands us our drinks and we sit in the window until seats open up. Not bad at all.

  4. I went outside to drive to Edgewood Retail District to shop at Lowe’s and Kroger and was surprised how warm it felt outside. I had to return indoors to take off the hoodie and cap I had put on.

Much to my surprise at Kroger I received 4x Fuel Points on (all?) of my purchases today even though it’s not Friday. Fearing I used the coupon on a day which I had no intention of buying a lot of things, I was glad to see that I am able to use it again.

  5. In an effort to get outdoor choring done before rain arrives tomorrow, I went outside with two jobs in mind. Of the two, I managed to hurt a finger and a toe doing the less dangerous task of removing t-posts using a t-post puller. I successfully made it through chipping branches, though the yard gods tried to get me by launching a small nugget at my eyes during my last branch; I was spared by my safety goggles.

BTW – some hashers are hosting a Learn to Curl night over in East Cobb at the ice rink at Lower Roswell. My knee is bothering me – so not sure how much I’ll participate.
But – I’ll be there for the broomstacking!

Back from WH, dropping the chains, and riding both scooters. Need to make sure the old one is ready to work a bike race in Auburn next month. Either will do, but the old one has some special flashing lights I think I need for the race.

    Barb, when is the curling?
