When do the Olympics end? Much like the Super Bowl I have lost interest and have no intention of spending time watching. Am I the only one who doesn’t care about these?
After a successful outing north of my beloved perimeter I now have a four-pack of from Schoolhouse Brewing in my refrigerator.
Wordle: five, my starter was DAIRY
Holy shit, it’s 6:40am and the tree company is here already. They will not only work in the rain, but apparently don’t need much light either. Time for trust in the process…
I will have some unhappy squirrels as one of the limbs taken down contains a drey.
I hate playing the “top of the food chain” card, but the insurance industry has made me do so.
Wordle in 4.
Amazing about the tree guys. There might be just enough light.
Ran errands, eye doc and Games meeting, which could have been an email. Debbie is going to road whip, so I get to take George to the groomer. Yippee.
Rainy day activities will commence.
I think the Olympics will go on through the 21st. Waiting on short track speed skating.

Tree limbs have been taken down. I hope that this shows an insurance company that I have acted in good faith.
A little late now, but did you get a before and after pic?
No, that probably would have been smart. Oh well…
Ironically after volunteering with Trees Atlanta tomorrow I will come home and cut up the limbs I had left in the front yard. This is oak, and will hopefully become future mushroom logs/substrate.
In an Asian grocery store, Nam Dae Mun, I saw oyster mushrooms selling for $9.99/pound. That has reinvigorated my desire to try and grow some in Wee Little Farm.
I actually saw a portion of the curling while sitting at Schoolhouse. What caught my eye was the caption of one of the commentators using the phrase “little wee bit”. Oh. So, Close!!! 😀
Solidarity, brother. I am not a fan of the Olympics, and ever since they staggered them every two years it feels like they happen all. the. time. Fortunately in this day and age of streaming it doesn’t really affect my TV watching, except that Jeopardy is on a different channel. We streamed the season 5 finale of OMITB on Hulu last night. This was a good season!
When our tree guys took down the big (hollow!) tree next to our house last October they worked until like 8:45 pm and it was daaaaaark.
8:45? Wow!
If/When this becomes my “forever” house, I will scrape up the funds and cojones to have the tree taken down. It’s lovely, but old, and its roots scare me a little.
What is this “Olympics” you speak of?
Lol
I’m back to the land of the living – barely.
Monday night I got deathly ill – I think it was food poisoning? Can the flu/norovirus be just 1 day? I’m not 100% by far, but I’m better – I can’t remember ever being that sick.
I was in bed from 10pm until 5pm yesterday (except so,so,so many trips to the bathroom) – My sleep# was a 20. An all time low.
Glad you seemed to have turned the bend.
Ohhhhhh, that SUCKS. I had food poisoning once and it was once of the worst experiences of my life. Glad you’re on the mend.
Glad you are back, sounds like food poisoning since it was a 24 hour turn around. Hate it for you, I know how miserable that is. Yuck
Allan found some shot of something in his bag of medical stuff for nausea – I think it helped, but by then there was nothing left for me to puke up, so that had slowed way down.
Dang, Barb, welcome back among the living. I got that sick once in Mexico, and haven’t ever returned.
LOL! Allan found some random medication tucked in a back pocket of his bag and gave it to you 🙂
I’m sure that is not the case but I read it that way and laughed
if I could remember the name (but I can’t) but you know he has a full bag of medical stuff – because we know all our friends are accident prone.
I would think your neighbors would not be thrilled with tree work starting that early.
I’m sure there weren’t. However, it was not my doing so I’m not going to apologize…
Thinking about cutting up the limbs today instead of tomorrow just to get it all sorted.
New kitchen, fancy coffee maker, just had my first Latte of many more to come. So good!
I’m a huge Olympics fan, the dedication these kids have to be the best in the world in whatever sport they choose is just cool.
What Bob said. These are sports I can barely relate to. Skiing, maybe, and then curling, just because. The dedication and commitment to this moment is off the scale. And for most of these sports- the Olympics is as high as it gets- it’s not a track to professional success.
Laura sent me a picture of the pot filler – glad you used it 1ST THING!!!
Okay, super jealous of your fancy coffee maker!
I enjoyed it when it was kids, not professionals…
And this may no longer be the case with streaming, but when I tried to watch years ago it was nothing but commercials, personal back stories, and a smattering of sports in which the USA dominated.
True- now with NBC using the Olympic feed for the smaller sports, it’s not all rah rah USA. And even on the Peacock feed, there can be a lot of commercials.
And remember kids, if it can’t be measured with a stop watch, tape measure, or score board, it’s not a sport. Pretty? You bet. Hard AF, certainly, but not a sport.
Couple of hours of tree limb work done, about 80% cut up and schlepped to the backyard. Will try to finish the job tomorrow.
