Continuing this week’s inadvertent “Project Week” theme, I will introduce another project which has gotten underway; this one is an art project… I have long been fascinated by inscriptions in books, as well as the words which are written on postcards. I have accumulated a small collection of both – books and postcards- and am trying to figure out how to photograph the items with their words transcribed.

As of publication I’m using the last of our “unseasonably” warm January weather (at least for now) to go out for a road trip / long bike ride. I am waffling on this however.

  1. After posting this blog at around 4:30am I fell back to sleep for another two hours. Original cycling plan is now scrapped, it required an hour of driving before and after riding, so I’m coming up with a shorter Plan B which leaves from the ITP Estate.

I made baked chicken with roasted veggies and we watched an episode of TGBBS. As soon as I put Finn to bed I went to bed myself.

Yesterday as I mentioned I ordered a nice cut of steak and some cooking ramen noodles from Whole Foods. I got home to discover that the steak was barely six ounces and the package of ramen noodles was only enough for one serving. Definitely not enough of either for two people. I guess I will make it anyway as an experiment.

I’m one of those people that has never ordered groceries – I’m terrible at making a list, and I know I would totally forget to add something I actually need.
Its just easier for me to just go to the grocery store & pick out whatever I need myself.

      • Jenka says:

Oh, I almost always forget something. And it’s so hard to know what sizes are right. The ramen noodles said 5 ounces, but they are dried noodles, so 5 oz could be enough, you never know. It’s not perfect, but it’s way easier than fighting traffic to go to the store.

Been there, done that. What drives me insane is having to banter back and forth with the courier because something I ordered is out of stock. Plus groceries are expensive enough without Instacart spiking things more. One of my favorite things about my new life is living two blocks from a grocery store so I can just walk over whenever I need something.

        • Barb says:

and honestly – those BIG ASS cart things the store shoppers use get in my way when I’m trying to shop. And – I’ve watched them pick produce – I wouldn’t let them do it for me.

Laura orders groceries often when she doesn’t want to deal with people 🙂
However, once she ordered bananas and requested a 6 banana bunch. Well they misread and we got 6 bunches of bananas. We did have fresh banana bread for like 6 weeks so that was nice

It’s helpful when I need things in a timely manner, too. Sometimes I need fruit for Finn’s after school snack and this way it gets there before I get home from work. Plus not dealing with people- I will do anything to not deal with people.

Yesterday a friend of mine posted that she got Wordle in 1!

    Wordle in 2!

We took Fig and her new boyfriend to BFE Forsyth Co. (Alpharetta my a$$). To be artificially inseminated. I may be scarred for life. I’m not sure I could do it justice here, so it may require an in person description.

Now about to leave to head to Murphy NC for a saddle fitting for Tanner. Apparently, he’s so broad in the shoulders, he has to have a “custom” saddle. We’ll be back later today.

  5. Ambition has become laziness as I sit doing a jigsaw puzzle.

  6. Barb says:

so Paulie – on that speed puzzle thing – I noticed on the post from Red’s mentioned Round Trip beer – and that was the brewery (now I’m guessing tasting room) in East Cobb. So, it must be something that brewery is doing? And – the actual brewery is over in WestSide, or Upper Westside, or whatever that are is called these days.

    • West Midtown used to be the hilarious self-appointed name…

I’ve been to Round Trip a few times.i like it okay, but they focus on German style beers, which I’ve mentioned before is my least favorite thing about Germany.

  7. Wow. I literally just learned that Dr Doug Tallamy is speaking at Trees Atlanta on February 7th, only to discover that it’s already sold out. Dangen.

  8. Barb says:

Dr Doug Tallamy – should I know who this is?

  9. Just finished a decent 25-mile ride. Really glad I couldn’t get my shit together to attempt fifty miles today.
