Grading My Baking/Cooking From Yesterday
Beer Quick Bread [source: unknown] = A
English Muffins [source: “Small Batch Bakes” by Edd Kimber] = B (the recipe works, though it took much longer for my dough to rise due to cold kitchen conditions, and, I rolled my dough too thin.)
Skillet Cornbread Pudding with Ham & Pepper Jack [source: “Making It Easy” by Food Networks Kitchens] = B+ (very tasty but probably better as a side dish, and it stuck mightily to the pan in which it was baked; plenty leftover for at least four more portions.)
Wordle: four, my starter was CURVE
If I haven’t previously been Whammed, it just happened.
did you leave the house this morning? Or are you listening at home?
At home, listening to Apple’s holiday radio station.
Does it count at home? I thought it had to be out ‘n’ about.
yes- if you are daring enough to listen to a holiday station AT HOME…….. you can be whammmed
I was tired of the same Christmas songs to which I listen every year, so thought I’d try the Apple station. With the exception of hearing “Simply Having, A Wonderful Christmastime” it was good.
I commented late yesterday that I got Whammed Friday at dinner. I made it two full years without ever getting Whammed and this year I’m out on December 12. Wer wer.
Yep, I saw that.
USPS continues to disappoint. They never held my mail as directed when I was in NC. And now, a mushroom spawn order I placed eight days ago seems to be stuck at the point of departure in Easley, SC for the past week.
and most of my Christmas cards I think really did get delivered.
Except to Aunt Nancy in CO, I resent last year’s card (it was returned for no real reason) & this year’s card on the same day. She got last years, but not this years.
Wordle in 6!
Metal is ready to go up, after a few perlins are put in place. Nice ride over to Wedowee. Remembering all the hills for the bike ride coming up in February in that neighborhood. Better get riding.
A half hour on the trainer last night.
A haircut this morning.

Meta has discontinued their desktop Messenger app as of yesterday. I usually have that open on my desktop as I work during the day as it is the main medium which Kevin and I use to text throughout the day. Now I have to have a web browser up and it is seriously annoying.
I have a couple things to do but mostly I’m treading water until the holiday break. Tonight we are having our senior leadership holiday dinner. Since I am the one who organizes these things I always choose my favorite restaurants, so tonight we are going to Delbar.
To have the school picking up the tab on a personal favorite is a win/win!
‘Zactly!
I don’t use FB or Messenger on my work computer, so I didn’t know there was a desktop app. I did learn that What’s App has an app & desktop, that’s very nice for when I need to use What’s App.
I need to buy a new toaster oven, our old one bit the dust last week. Why do all toaster ovens have knobs? I hate knobs!
we do not own a toaster oven……… I can not help you with this issue.
When my trusty old toaster oven stopped being trusty it was recycled at CHaRM. I have never purchased another one since my Air Fryer has kinda taken its role.
How do you people make toast? Please don’t tell me you live without eating toast?!
I use this gadget know as a “toaster”. I used it this morning to toast my English muffin that I ate with breakfast.
I’m with Paulie – a plain old 2 slice toaster – cost $10 a million years ago
Look, ma, no knobs! https://www.target.com/p/ninja-flip-toaster-oven-38-air-fryer-8-in-1-functionality-flip-up-38-away-capability-for-storage-space-sp151/-/A-91722291
When I first started dating Debbie, I thought that her Ninja was just another fucking gadget. One day I got over myself and tried it, and was immediately sold. Given that I have two teenagers in the house, mine gets used a least a couple of times every day.
Oooh, this could be a contender! My two main criteria are knobs and size. It needs to be small enough to fit in our appliance cabinet. This one is a good size!
It’s a Christmas Miracle! 😀
that’s got a whole lot of features
It’s a surprisingly well thought out device. And everything runs on automatic timers, so if you space out like I do, you don’t have an active fire hazard on your counter. Plus it flips up when not in use, so it works really nicely in a corner.
I use a good many of the different modes. Debbie *never* uses her oven because she doesn’t want to heat up her house in the summer, and this handles anything she wants to bake.
Long story short, I was a massive skeptic the first time I saw it, but I’m a believer now.
I’m not allowed to get an air fryer after the Deep Fryer Disaster (TM) so this would be an excellent way to sneak in the air fryer without getting a separate gadget.
You’d definitely have plausible deniability. “What? It’s an air fryer too? I was only looking for a knobless toaster oven.” 😉 Cue Sergent Schultz (Jenka, I’m going to bet you’re too young to get the reference).
Deep Fryer Disaster ™? I need more details…
We can’t live without a toaster oven, we don’t have a microwave so the toaster oven is used almost daily.
