Wee Little Baking Season has begun. Cool/Cold mornings give me the liberty to crank up my inefficient 1950s gas oven, which spills heat into the kitchen, and eventually throughout the house. At this time of year this is most impactful during the morning hours, which given my erratic sleep start around 5:30am.
This week I have baked, or will be baking, a couple of batches of biscuits, an apple cake dessert, a batch of hamburger buns, as well as a failed loaf of bread.
Wordle: three, my starter was ANISE. Kicking myself because today’s solution is another from my list, and I really considered using it, but didn’t. Dangen!
First!
You win the day!
Remember when ITP-Reader Steve used to get out of bed early? š
And now he’s retired and lazy!
Steve is a slacker now, Iām jealous
Yeah, I canāt wait to sleep in when I retire⦠hahahaha
I did nothing last night. Had no inspiration for dinner so I made mac ‘n’ cheese for Finn and me. Kevin got home from Denver around 8:30. I was in the office by 7:30 this morning, I have so much to do. And that is my story.
Unreported today was the bursting of my Poltergeist cherry last night. Yes, you read that right, until last night Iād never seen the movie Poltergeist.
I have also not seen it, and I most likely never will.
Itās from the early 1980s and the graphic effects are on par with Raiders of the Lost Ark. I hadnāt seen it because I donāt watch scary/gory/horror films, but this was fine.
If Ive seen it, Iāve forgotten that movie.
Young girl in front of a staticky TV saying āTheyāre hereā¦ā
Does that ring a bell?
Wordle in 3!
Straightened up the shop more and decided where the additional shelving unit will go. Started the long process of throwing stuff out that we donāt use or is long dead.
While at Costco yesterday, we bought Debbieās brother a new TV as his is on its last legs. Weāll go over today and swap it out. This afternoon, I have a call scheduled with an old HS friend who lives in Australia, but is currently in country. She was here in Atlanta, but I was up to my eyeballs in Games stuff and couldnāt get away. Now at her brothers in Raleigh.
Still no exercise.

Only exercise I got yesterday was pulling weeds. I need to get some todayā¦
I too need to get back to house clearing, and starting some of the projects for which Iāve accumulated supplies.
And after much deliberation I determined a Costco membership was not right for me these days.
Itās a planes, trains& automobile day, but in the opposite order.
New Orleans here we come!
We might take the $1.25 bus from the airport to French Quarter.
A taxi or whatever costs $30-40.
Have fun!
And Jenka, to answer your late question yesterday- The LQ has a 3 burner stove and microwave. The space for the micro is small, so I donāt know if a combo will fit.
Three burners and a microwave sounds totally livable to me! I’d rather have burners than an oven, if I had to choose.
We have never used the oven portion of our camper range. Might need to see if it even works someday
How you going to make biscuits on a cold camping morning if you donāt use the oven?!?! Cāmon people!!! š
Dutch oven on the campfire???
I donāt have the skills necessary to keep a constant temperature with a fire, so theyād either be underdone or burned.
Dutch oven- spoken like the wife of an Eagle Scout.
Today is the day I wish I had Delta sky Club access.
Do you have a long wait at the airport?
Not super long, but long enough. There was no line at all at TSA. We could have spent plenty of money in a bar. Found friends flying to Key West, so we met up with them for a few minutes of conversation
Been snacking on the apple ābarsā I baked yesterday. The are incredibly tasty, but knowing what went into them, also incredibly fattening. When/If I make them again in the future I will cut the recipe in half since this body doesnāt need a 9āx13ā pan of this staring at him daily.
I wonder if it would freeze?
Iām about to relearn how to use me FoodSaver vacuum sealerā¦
Three hunks vacuum sealed (two better than the third) and in the freezer. It will be interesting to see how they fare/taste when I take them out to thaw and eat.
We love our vacuum sealer. Thatās why I go to Aldi in the morning to see what theyāve marked down. Repackage it & it goes in the freezer. (Kroger managers specials as well)
I might be doing the same in the near future.
I bought it when I was eating a lot of meat, which I am doing again, and vaccum sealed bags that went into the water to be sous-vided.
I know that my road bike should already be attached to the trainer and I should be cranking out daily workouts, but I just canāt seem to get myself to do that.
Maybe tomorrowā¦
