More Long Days Ahead

I worked both days this past weekend (and probably will again this upcoming weekend). Though I brought my clothes each day to go out for a walk, the weather, and more importantly my desire to get my app working the way I want it to work, kept me in the office until dinner time each day. On Saturday night I went home and ate three eggs (with cheddar cheese) and drank a beer for dinner; last night I treated myself to Taco Mac.

Today’s Personal Project
Go to the company Christmas Holiday party at Dave & Buster’s in Duluth :(. The party starts at 3:00pm so my attendance is in question based on today’s app stability. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

Today’s Daily Challenge
Jump up and down for twenty seconds.

It doesn’t take a lot of time to get your blood pumping! This short bit of exercise will get your heart and lungs working harder and bring a little burst of energy into your day. Jumping can also help strengthen the muscles and ligaments that support the ankles.

After hurting my back jumping on a trampoline two weeks ago (it still hurts some) I can’t say that I plan to accomplish today’s task.

Friday Night
After a long day of work Friday I headed to the westside for the meetup with 5by5‘s Dan Benjamin. Little did I know that he was going to accompanied by his (beautiful) producer Haddie, and that there would be tens of people (more than I expected) also in attendance. My inability to work a crowd (one of the biggest reasons I can’t get dates) kept me from actually talking to Benjamin, but it was a decent time milling about the Jackals (the nickname given to those who listen to 5by5’s programming).

After the “meet”up I was hungry (it was about 9:30pm and I’d yet to eat dinner). I wanted to go out somewhere, and that somewhere turned out to be The Shed. Though dinner and drinks at The Shed isn’t cheap, I find myself wanting to go there more often because I like the food and atmosphere. As I do I sat a the bar and chatted a bit with Mandy, who despite only meeting me three or four times remembers that I attended The Shed’s Wild Heaven dinner. Not being able to decide what I wanted to eat I wound up ordering three sliders, a side of fries, and a side of roasted brussels sprouts. Yes, it was too much food. If you are a fan of Mandy’s you may want to head to The Shed more often soon, as she told me that she’ll be in Denver this week looking for a place to live and work; yep, she’s fleeing the ATL….

Envious of my bachelor lifestyle?
The Bachelor Life
The Sunday morning remains of my night at home Saturday.

Yes, I was awake at 5:02am Sunday morning.

Is That You Santi Claus?
I had breakfast at The Original Pancake House yesterday prior to heading into the office. As I (sometimes do) I sat at the counter, and obviously have not entered into “Christmas” time yet because I ordered pumpkin pancakes. While seated I looked down the counter and saw a man who must be rather busy this time of year — Santa Claus, well, it was a man who looked like Santa Claus. At one point a couple of kids came up and talked to “Santa Claus” and it was actually kind of funny as he asked their names and whether they had been good boys this year.

Speaking of not being in “Christmas” time… I walked into Target on Saturday morning and was stunned to hear that no music was being played. This is the one time of year that I want to hear Christmas Holiday music in stores, and Target wasn’t playing any. BAH. HUMBUG!

Dear Santa, Deliver Me From This
My back hurts.
My tooth hurts occasionally (root canal here I come).
I need to go into my attic to check on what might be a possible roof leak, in addition to a possible home for vermin (I’m probably crazy, but I swear I hear scurrying. Given my house’s history and my seemingly endless run of bad luck, I’m sure that I am.).
I need to hire a plumber to fix nearly all of my plumbing and install a new water heater. (People normally say “hot water heater” but isn’t that redundant since the act of heating the water makes it hot?)
I am working far too much.
I am overweight and not getting any exercise.

Oh shit, I doubt that I am on the “Good” List.
Never mind.

  1. Martha says:

It was a somewhat relaxing weekend. We put up more xmas decorations…if you are shopping for lights, good luck…pickings are already slim but I think I have enough to get us through the holiday. We still don’t have a tree, with Logan’s crate in the living room we really don’t have much space for one, plus we will be out of town for xmas so I’m not sure if it’s worth it…might just put up the little, fake tree and be done with it.

It felt strange this weekend, I only ran Saturday morning and even that wasn’t far, I manged to ‘break’ my friend…looks like she suffered a nasty sprain while running at Sweetwater. Sunday I drove to Duluth, Jerry dropped of the Jeep for something (and had the nerve to ask me for more Jeep parts for xmas), then we hit Buford Hwy for some Dim Sum, it was better in Chicago but not bad.

When are you hearing noises in the attic, night time rats, day time squirels I would guess. I was hearing noises for awhile but since we had the new insulation installed (they also sealed up some holes) it’s been quiet. I’ve also got money set aside in the budget for a new water heater…at least I should drain it (or get someone to do that), I’ve been in the house 11 years and I’ve done nothing, except when I had it moved from the house to the crawl space…yikes!

  2. Steve says:

In class all week (VoIP ) and the instructor looks like Red Eye.
Looks like a new horse is on his way to JEFDSDR. Debbie may add some detail…
This week of class will make me appreciate the bus I normally ride!! But it will give me a chance to have lunch with Barb.

    -FP

  3. Barb says:

Let me know what day for lunch Steve – I’m available all week (except today).
Allan has been sickly all weekend- and is thinking about calling in sick to the firehouse tomorrow, but hopefully he will be better, so maybe he can join us too.

AND – THE TWINNIES DIDN’T WIN TAR!!!!!
    THANK GOD.

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Yeah, I know that whole day/night animal routine…

I actually went to CBS to see who won.

  5. Martha says:

A new horse sounds like fun! A FB friend just got a new (I think her first) horse, she seems to be spending a lot of $$…she also just quit her job?? He appears to be a retired race horse and has some ‘issues’…I thought Nibbles was a handful.

I might need to be a little more careful with Nibbles in the back yard, I saw two hawks by the pond yesterday. And while Nibbles is probably just a little too big to be carried off, I could see them trying to snatch her (and she get injured) or her trying to attack them and lord knows what then…At least I know have a pretty good idea what happened to my fish.

  6. Debbie says:

Our new horse was a race horse wannabe, but his owner ran out of the green so he was on clearance. Katherine and I are going to drive down to Ocala Wednesday and pick him up. I’m feeling really badly that our current horses are not in the barn now, a cold, yucky, heavy rain just hit the Day Spa. At least they have their raincoats on.

Martha, feel free to give your FB friend my name. I’ve had lots of ex race horses and most with issues of some sort.

I was sooooo glad the Twinnies got knocked out by “The Gays” as they repeatedly referred to the goat farmers. I was really pulling for James and Jaymes because they were so cheerful for the whole race. I think this season was it for me; it’s just gotten pro forma for the most part.

No tree or decorations for us, bah humbug! A friend of mine also ran into the light shortage problem – no white lights to be found except for Walgreens and then just a couple of boxes. Her tree goes dark on the bottom 18 inches. Whoops.

Paulie, I hope your app cooperates and you can blow off some steam at Dave & Busters; I love that place.

  7. Stacy says:

DAGNABBIT, Barb! I recorded it!! Sheeesh….I should’ve known not to come here today!

(heehee just kidding. I really don’t care)

  8. Jenka says:

Yep, Mandy’s been planning her move to Denver for about a year now. I need hardly say that I’m about devastated. But I said it anyway. Heh.

I was just at Dave & Buster’s on Saturday! Shot some things, drove some things, and kicked my friend’s ASS at trivia!

  9. Jenka says:

Also: I have that “Eats, Shoots, and Leaves” book, too! Shocker. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Barb says:

Stacy- I didn’t tell you who won, just the most annoying team EVER didn’t!!!
    So there!

I don’t know anyone that liked those 2 – and yes – calling the guys “the gays” the whole time & talking bad about them really was awful. I don’t think there has ever been a team that unlikeable.
