Illfitting And Illogical

Today I am “dressed up.” To do so is one of those crazy goals of mine. However as I sit in my chair writing this I realize why I don’t do this more often, or maybe why I should possibly do this more often. I am rather pear-shaped right now (Surprise! I am unhappy about my weight) and this fact is made readily apparent when I attempt to dress tidily.

Brisketlicious!
Best. Fucking. Brisket. Eva! That’s all my mind could conjure as I consumed a brisket plate at the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club (thanks for the link Sarah) last night. Seriously, if you are a beef eater I suggest that you get yourself to the Yacht Club soon. The beef was moist and had a tasty, semi-hardened outer layer which could only be produced by a Maillard Reaction. Delicious. Oh, and they also serve beer.

Almost Maine, Not Quite Broadway
Let me start by saying that I love local theater. (ymmv)

After stuffing our faces with brisket Stacy and I headed over to the Horizon Theatre to see a performance of “Almost Maine.”

Prior to the show we found out that the Horizon has opened a small room up as a lounge where they serve up beverages (coffee, water, soda, and wine) as well as delicious cookies.

Apparently it was Geriatrics’ Night at the Horizon because Stacy and I were easily some of the youngest people in attendance (and that’s saying a lot since I am forty-one).

“Almost Maine” is a series of short scenes about a region of Maine (duh) all of which are supposedly happening concurrently. Two actresses and two actors change rolls between scenes keeping the pace high and making for an interesting evening. Given that the last play I saw at the Horizon, “Bad Dates”, was a one-set, one-woman show this was a nice change of pace. At first I was concerned because one of the actresses was the one who successfully performed the only role in “Bad Dates” and it took me a few scenes to rid myself of the connection between her and her previous character. That being said I am astonished that people can memorize such a volume of dialog in a relatively short amount of time.

If you like local theater and are not expecting a “big budget” production then I recommend seeing “Almost Maine.” The play runs through March 25th and tickets can be obtained via the Horizon’s website.

I Took Marta Today Because???
Let’s see… I was up and out of the house early. I plan to hang out at the Taco Mac near the office after work. I didn’t bring either my camera or workout clothes because I didn’t want to lug a lot of stuff around on Marta. So why did I take the train today? I have no flippin’ idea.

March Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs?)
2) Run no fewer than thirty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
4) Finish February’s book and read at least one more.
5) Take Marta to work at least ten times.
6) File my Income Taxes.
7) Wear “nicer” clothes to work at least one day a week.
