If I forget the fact that I was in pain all weekend, had some other health related concerns, my leaky roof (which I hope to help fix today), and other news which was relayed to me, I had an amazing weekend. The East Atlanta Strut was a success, and I got to see many people (hashers) who I don’t see any longer.

Yesterday I forgot about the Tasty China outing, so by the time Barb checked in with me, I had already committed to help move some furniture around my buddy Chip’s house.

All weekend I watched/read information about the damage caused by Helene, in conjunction with the rain which proceeded it. Devastating flooding and/or wind damage occurred in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. This might go down as one of the costliest storms of our time.

Wordle: three, my starter was DRAFT
Connections: one mistake, X > Yellow > Green > Blue > Purple

Wordle in 4, and I had yesterday in 3 after seeing Vandy Beth and several others took 6!

The air bags are in and seem to be working too well. I set them about mid-way and Debbie said it was too much. Our current trailer is pretty light, so not a surprise.

Getting ready for some fence work around the barn Saturday. I swapped the finish mower for the bush hog and wanted to see why the finish mower was not mowing evenly. Well when you only have 2 out of 3 blades, that might explain it!! The bolt had sheared off and no telling where the blade is! I managed to get the remains of the bolt out with a screw extractor. Now for new blades…

17 miles yesterday. Took a while to get the knots out after working under the truck on Friday.

Wonderful dinner at TC last night. So good to see everyone who remembered to show up (ahem!). Those absent were talked about…

    • Hey, at least I was out helping a friend and not just at home sitting on my fat ass…

I had a sixer in Wordle yesterday, and a deuce on Saturday. Wordle gives, Wordle takes away.

      • Jenka says:

I was! I was sitting at home on my fat ass! How anyone would actually leave the house after 4:00 pm on a Sunday confounds me.

        • Barb says:

that was me on Friday – I was thinking, do I really need to get dressed & go out tonight after being home all day?

  2. Last week I received a box of laundry sheets. I thought I was saving the world. Today I read that they are just as bad as laundry pods. I’ve been duped!

Wordle in 4 starting with STOKE. Connections: Y, X, X, B, G, P. Had to think on Strands a bit.

Saturday a 10k at Westside Park, a hike at Kennesaw Mtn, and brews at Glover Park. Sunday was mostly lazy, a visit with a friend at Shepherds and a very nice time at TC. Good to see everyone.

  4. Meant to ask, has anyone heard from Kat and Mango? I know others who live in western NC who are severely impacted by this storm.

    • Barb says:

yes- they are ok – Mango did a FB post – Kat texted me.
Brevard is bad, but not as bad as Asheville.

Mark (Body Glide) & Barbara are trapped at their house by downed trees & whatever, but the house is intact. They are doing ok – but hoping to get out to get some ice to keep all their food safe to eat.

  5. Steve says:

    Jenka, how’s the cabin??

    • Jenka says:

Lord knows. The alarm did not go off, so it should be okay. Reports from the Coosawattee River Resort say some trees down, overall not much damage to the resort as a whole. I feel like we should put cameras at the cabin!

  6. Jenka says:

It was really hard to get out of bed this morning. There was a definite chill in the air, I will have to start wearing a sweater or light jacket in the mornings.

Both Braves games on Thursday and Friday were postponed, which means they are playing a double header today, a day they were supposed to be off. Kevin is going to the afternoon game with some of his co-workers.

Glad everyone had a good time at TC!

    Busy weekend –
Ended up going out for Mexican food with Davey, ChewChew, Surly & Ramaho Friday night – at the other El Azteca (hash happy hour was at 1, we were at the other)

Saturday we decided we MUST get some exercise – so decided to walk to the Marietta Square for lunch – its a little over 4 miles. Annette & Mark met us there – then we walked the long way back to their house (another 2+ miles) & they gave us a ride home.
Saturday night was dinner at Il Giallo with friends.

Sunday was a mixed up walk in Woodstock – that portion of the Noonday Creek trail was very muddy, but we made it work & eventually got to Reformation thanks to Google Maps for a beer & some BBQ. (& approx 4 miles of walking)
Then to a friends house to help her with a couple little projects that handyman Allan could knock out quickly.
    Then Tasty China dinner.

  8. Barb says:

    yellow – blue – green – purple.
Purple I would have never gotten in a million years.

    Wordle in 3 – WOOT!

my friend’s son & family live really close to that plant – they are at her house in Roswell. The atmospheric conditions aren’t good to get rid of it – I think its gonna be in the air for a few days.

Pretty good weekend, chainsaw work and generator delivery on Friday, Big Creek volunteer work most of Saturday followed by neighborhood tailgate party followed by another trip to Big Creek to watch a jump competition. Sunday was back at Big Creek again to volunteer for the Quick 6 Enduro race all day. Race was mostly successful except for sending 2 riders away in ambulances 🙁 Fun times outside of that.

Nice catching up with everybody at TC! You were missed Paulie.

  11. Catching up. Buddy Hank and I worked on my roof. Okay, Hank worked on my roof, I was his Wee Little Helper.

Walked up to Village to buy Hank lunch at The EARL. I’m back at home, in a lot of pain with my hip.

  12. David says:

Tasty China turned into Hasty China for me, as something about it caused a speedy exit from my body. Nonetheless, it was a delicious meal, and a great time, and I definitely will go back. I’ll just be a little more circumspect on the spice level next time. I’m glad to have finally experience Tasty China!
