I missed the perfect opportunity to (re)use the title “Winds Of Change” yesterday when discussing last weekend’s LEAF. Not only did the winds blow strong and often, but a handful of vendors who have been fixtures at LEAF, namely the Coffee Bus and Barley’s Pizza, weren’t present this time around.
Also for the first LEAF in my memory I did not know any of the musical performers. None, nada, zip.

And In The End, No Ride Last Night
I wasn’t, and still aren’t, feeling all that great. It could be a cold, see also: change of temperatures, or allergies, see also: grass, dust. Regardless I knew that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the Monday night Recovery Ride, a ride in which I can barely maintain pace when I’m feeling well. I thought about doing my own ride, but when push came to shove I chose to do nothing.
In theory I could have gone home and done all of my German homework.
Theory is so cute.
Doughnuts This Morning
Because I slept too late this morning I stopped for “breakfast” this morning. Instead of eating breakfast at Folk Art, I chose to stop into Revolution Doughnuts, mostly because the M6 was pointed in the direction of Decatur when I decided to sit out some of the morning’s shitty traffic.
I had two donuts — orange pistachio, and a maple bourbon “cro-dough” — and two cups of coffee. I will pay for my sins later by severely limiting my lunch intake today.
German Tonight
I’m hoping to start feeling better for German class tonight. I also plan to sign up for a one-day German course to be held this Saturday. This course will be “German Conversation for Travelers” which might be a good thing for me to refresh prior to my trip in June.

I walked for lunch yesterday with my old boss and now SVP Mary. She and her husband live a couple of blocks from the bank and are quite the active types. She admitted they purchased single speeds so they could tool around intown and I cried out they had become hipsters! I did ensure they had not gone all sideburns and tweed and opted for actual single speeds with hand brakes and not fixies!! She did admit to having to take the bikes back to the shop to get the gear ratio reduced, as there are actually hills in midtown!
I changed the oil on the tractor and did some other overdue PM last night. I prepared the nights feast of home made pizza. Those pizza doughs from Publix are very good. I pre baked it a bit before adding all the toppings and it came out as good as any I recall. Considering there is nothing leftover for lunch today, I consider it a success.
Working from home while Debbie goes off this afternoon. Zelda likes company.

We did nothing exciting last night.
I was a 100% slacker yesterday, I drove to work because I was tired of being cold (camping over the weekend was super cold), Laura took Travis to baseball practice so I was home alone. I SHOULD have jumped on my bike and rode over to the baseball field but no, I sat on my ass and watched the news (I rarely get to do that). With BRAG being 18 days away i cannot afford to be a slacker like that. Weather is supposed to be improving so I will be able to ride to work tomorrow.

Steve, I’ve been meaning to try store-bought pizza dough for some time. Maybe I will this week(end).
I can vouch for Publix pizza dough, awesome for making pizza on the grill too.
Bob, you and Laura are the reason we’re hooked. You had it for the open house and we thought it was really tasty. And that bike isn’t going to ride itself.
Speaking of riding, a great finish in California yesterday! Who would have bet on that? And at the Giro, the Katusha team pulled their own rider for drafting in the TT? There is something else going on there. Wait for it…
How’d it feel being me, Barb? 😉 Thanks for picking up my slack… I was off wandering to the mall (Peachtree Center for those of you playing along) with a colleague for coffee. I actually wasn’t going to get a coffee but she had a 2-for-1 Caribou drink bonus so she got me one. Score! So now I’m caffeinated and happy.
Steve, that sounds really good. What toppings did you add?
I don’t think I’ve ever made a homemade pizza before and in mentally surveying my pantry just now, I know I have things like tomato sauce, mushrooms, spinach, etc. there that could do very well on a za. Maybe I’ll have to pop into the Publix after work today.
Paulie, if you were on social media, I’d suggest we all do a pizza cook-off some night. I did one years ago with friends. It was silly: we were all in different cities — I was in Fort Collins at the time, someone here in Atlanta, someone in Milwaukee, etc… but we made our pizzas, Skyped while doing it, and all posted them on Facebook and it was actually really quite fun. Hey, if you can’t be together, could at least do what you can!
We had left over Italian sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms. We had a new tomato base yesterday that was quite good. So many of the “quick sauce”s are so sweet we have occasionally cut them with tomato paste.
A Skype pizza cookoff. That’s too funny.
I’ve gotten really lazy & gotten the already flattened out pizza dough, its only like 50 cents more. So times I make my own dough, sometimes I just buy it. (buy it more often…..)
We have some left over chicken that will be a pizza topping soon, will add some bacon of course, but after that, not sure what all we have. I agree with Steve, some tomato sauces are quite sweet.

If I ride tomorrow morning instead of tomorrow night, depending on the weather, I may just make pizza! You’ll find out Thursday.
Steve – the bar was interesting – the band was just 2 people, they did a good job. I think they needed a little better sound system, they didn’t fill up the space with music as much as I thought they should, but it was nice, could actually talk to each other that way.
We had beers & dinner at the house before, so we only had 1 beer each, seemed high priced – $5 for a bottle of Yuengling? We will see………
They did have some bar food – not sure of those prices, the people that ordered food said it was ok.
They do still allow smoking at the bar as well, it wasn’t bad, but slightly annoying.
