It was a good night for riding, even if some of the roads on which we ride are being torn up, and we finished in the dark. I’ve ridden further distances recently, but not that hard.im already feeling a little sore, in the good way. It was nice seeing some of my riding buddies again, even if the chatter about the past two days of a Black Sheep hashing dominated the post-ride conversation.

Even though the winner has already been spoiled for me, I have decided to undertake the watching season two of The Traitors UK. Perhaps knowing who wins will make it more enjoyable?

Wordle: four, my starter was WEIRD
Connections: one mistake, Blue > Green > Yellow > Purple
Strands: As I publish this it is completely beating me. Thus far I have identified one incorrect word, and have no clue on how I am going to solve it.

Wordle in 4 starting with BLUNT. No mistakes in Connections y,g,b,p. Once again, I would not have guessed purple. As far as Strands goes…it took me 5 hints to finally figure out what the connections were. I didn’t have the patience.

Had a nice leisurely ride with Minnie Brew yesterday. First time on the road bike this year. I have a ways to go to get ready for STU.

It was such a lovely evening last night for a run up and over Kennesaw, BBque sandwiches, beer and a nice fire.

I have Women of the Woods this morning.

Wordle in 3! I had only one letter in the right place in 2. Masterful luck, I’ll say.

A fairly quiet day yesterday. Finally got a call back from the cardio. Today at 11 at the Fayetteville office. Not sure what he’s going to do, as the pain has pretty much subsided and I feel good. Slept well last night. Likely a trip to the cath lab, where they will run a catheter in through my wrist and into my heart to see if they can see any narrowing or blockages. Been there, done that.

I was sitting outside reading my Kindle yesterday afternoon and I heard a small plane doing aerobatics (not uncommon here). Then suddenly, the engine stopped. I got up to find him in the sky and sure enough, I could hear him gliding through the air, engine OFF! And I waited and waited.. he was heading towards Bear Creek Road, which is a good place to emergency land. Finally I heard the engine start back up and he flew away! I was hoping I wasn’t going to have to call 911.

    • Wow, that’s a harrowing story. I’m glad it seems the pilot figured it out, or was doing some sort of training.

      • Steve says:

One of our hunt friends is a hobby pilot. I was just talking to him Saturday at lunch and said any time he wanted a co-pilot to call me. Now that I suspect him of practicing dead stick flying, I might have to rethink that!

And Paulie, what Tuesday night ride has BS hashers?

    • The Tuesday night ride from Melton’s. Lawn Cut Dong, and Long and Red are regulars. BWANA has been showing up for about as long as I have. And Fresh Fish and Trader Dix show up occasionally.

On most rides hashers make up at least half of the (admittedly small) pack.

  4. Will someone explain today’s Strands to me? I have yet to figure out a single word without failing multiple times to get hints, and I am just not seeing it.

    Back from camping.
When we got there it was really wet, (& cold) so 1st night was spent at Mills River brewery.

Sunday we did a walkabout the campground, it was spread out enough that we walked 3.4 miles. Cool section of glamping tents that will be opening soon for the season.
Very breezy, so we went to Brevard to check out Kat & Mango’s new house, then to Ecusta brewery for a beer (& meet up with our camping friend Dana’s mom)
Went back to camp, still very breezy, so we decided to have a “progressive” dinner inside our 2 campers.

Monday we went to Sierra Nevada for lunch & a tour. Interesting information on how it all started in the early 80s. Huge facility.

Finally nice enough to have a campfire that night. Allan brought his new projector so we watched a movie outside.

Thought about staying an extra night, & actually going into Asheville, but decided to just come home. I was enough beered out that it wouldn’t have been as fun it should be.

  6. What to do today? Still haven’t showered, and it’s my turn for food so I need to hit a grocery store, so there are two things to do…

And for you old Atlantans… I think today is the 31st anniversary of the blizzard of ’93. Wow.. hard to believe.

Remember how I told you that we thought some of us had gotten food poisoning from dinner on Friday night? Saturday night 5 out of the 9 of us started throwing up. Sunday night 2 more went down. Well, last night Kevin threw up while we were at dinner, fortunately we hadn’t ordered yet. I am the last man standing! Now we are thinking it might be some sort of virus, because I don’t think it’s likely that Kevin could succumb to food poisoning 4 days later.

    • WOW.

You should go to Goodwill and buy a secondhand trophy to award yourself as last man standing! Or buy a lottery ticket. I don’t know, I’m just an Idea Man. 🙂

Yesterday would’ve been my mother’s 75th birthday. I marco-ed my brother and he didn’t even remember. I mean, she was a terrible person so I can’t blame him.

  10. Back from a short walk during which I picked up trash. Yeah, I still need more exercise but I’m pretty pleased with myself for doing something for my community.

  11. Just read an article that said Apple may follow Amazon’s lead of charging more for an ad free video experience. I will hate to stop giving them mode for AppleTV+, but I will if they enact this.

Back from Florida with another punch on my Florida man card. Good times were had, nephew’s wedding was super fun and nice to hang out with the family again. St Augustine is nice but it is such a tourist trap, all the cheesy souvenir shops and wall to wall people. We climbed to the top of a lighthouse and toured the Castillo de San Marcos fortress. Some really cool history around there.
I was able to get in a bike ride, 28 miles around a huge lake in Sanford. Most of the ride was on a path so it was quite enjoyable. Bike week was wrapping up too, so many motorcycles out riding the whole time we were there, really cool to see so many.

Fun times but now catching up on work, thankfully only 3 days this week 🙂

Cardiologist says I don’t think you were having heart issues, but just to be safe, let’s run a stress test on you. At 3 this afternoon.

All I can think about is the treadmill scene from “American Flyers”!!

  14. I think I just saw a haw fly into a tree carrying a hawk in its talons. I wasn’t wearing my glasses, but it definitely looked like it was carrying a furry tail…

  15. Warning NYT Mini Crossword Spoiler:

Today’s Puzzle used the word “zhuzh”. FFS! The day that this is the Wordle solution is the day I quit Wordle.
