I wrote some code? Sure did! Yesterday I finally sat my ass down and started writing my Wordle clone app. I wrote the code that evaluates a guess made by the user versus the unknown target word of the day. This app won’t impress many employers, but it will get me back on the right track.
I made soup? Sure did! And, it contained leeks from WLF!!! This is the first time I have ever grown leeks, or even cooked with them. Last night I made a variation on a leek and potato soup. Since I didn’t have any edible potatoes remaining from WLF I made the walk to Publix to buy some. I should have bought some heavy cream for the soup too, but forgot. In the place of heavy cream I used a small can of coconut milk that I had on hand. I have to say, the soup was delicious.
My knee was feeling better, not 100%, but as long as I am mindful of the activities I am doing I think I will be all right soon.
In addition to the potatoes I bought a bottle of red wine to drink with dinner. Well, I drank half of the bottle of wine and I thought it was quite delicious as well.
Yesterday the Post Office delivered a lot of mail to my mailbox, all of which was addressed to my next door neighbors. WTF, USPS? At least the (finally) delivered my COVID tests to me on Monday.
In the afternoon I saw that my greenhouse radishes have started to germinate, which is quite exciting for me. Now I just need to get them to create nice, edible bulbs for future salads. Hopefully today I will plant the two raspberry plants that I bought from Lowe’s recently.
Last night I caught up on “The Amazing Race”. Can we please stop having non-elimination legs FFS?!?! Let’s get rid of some of these unworthy teams already! I would love to have done that water challenge in the sixth episode.
I have a full agenda this afternoon. At 4pm I have a Jackson survey in Sandy Springs. In order to,avoid some traffic I will start making my journey that way after lunch, stopping at Harbor Freight, Goodwill, Dollar Tree, and Lowe’s beforehand, and Home Depot on Ponce on my way home. I just need to be back in the ‘hood before 6:30pm so that I can head over to Betsy’s tonight. It’s Betsy’s turn to provide food, so all I have to do is show up.
Hope your world is remaining on track and that you are feeling well.
I solved today’s Wordle on my sixth, and final, guess.
A weird day yesterday. Someone decided they would burn down our building and started with 2 gas cans at the front door. As there isn’t anyone at the front door, it might have taken a minute for someone to react, but the perp was nabbed and hopefully taken for evaluation. Meanwhile, in Miami, our explosives canine alerted on an armored car with a suspicious scent. They closed 5 blocks of NW36th St. (a fairly busy road) while the bomb squad responded. I hope it wasn’t a false positive.
A half hour of run/walk followed by a dinner of butternut squash ravioli with sautéed spinach. It needed a little more flavor- I thought some bacon in the sauce would have helped.

Thought about you when I saw the news Steve. Throwing gas on a building made of stone and trying to burn it probably won’t have the result you are looking for.
Another strike against our scientific educational system…
Did not see any news yesterday, I’ll have to ask Allan if he heard this story.
He gets to go to corrections today to teach them how to do the covid testing & how to use the app & website for recording. I guess AFR is done with testing the police & corrections.
Started my vitamin gummies- this time only 2 days worth.
Orange – #1 was tasty.
Went & saw Death on the Nile last night – $5 on Tuesdays. Excellent movie, that is of course if you like Agatha Christie & murder mystery.
Funny, a couple of weeks ago I finished a Christie book. It was a collection of Poirot stories, perhaps not her best, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Allan told me last night there are 90 Agatha Christie books. (and of course we have all of them)
I had no idea there were so many.
Still looking for income opportunities. Except for this afternoon no surveys that I can take are on my calendar.
I don’t think surveys are the way to actually make money, its play money for the stupid stuff for me. But- that being said, talk to Davey, he does a lot of them with a lot of different companies.
Fair. With my current savings I’m trying to stop the hemorrhaging of money through making a few bucks here and there. I failed to get into the company Davey suggested to me last week, pity as it would allowed me to earn money from home.
And someone stole a semi-tractor and drove it up 85 with half of the Coweta sheriff’s department in pursuit. Apparently it did not end well for the perp. Or anyone else who was stuck while they closed 85 North but a lot worse for the perp.
Geez, quite the day for nefarious activity. Full moon? Planets in retrograde?
Day after VD? I’ll alert you if I hear details…
Well my grand plan to visit all the Sandy Springs places I listed has gone to shit, all because I can’t trust the USPS. I am hoping the post arrives prior to the latest time I can leave to drive to Sandy Springs, but I doubt that it will.
I think you need a PO box and stop worrying about someone stealing your mail at home.
Just back from the hunt “breakfast” where Debbie and her pals were the hosts. They ordered way more food than was required and I’ll be eating beef with broccoli for a month.
