If you are accustom to “getting” videos on the internets you are familiar with the naming scheme SxEy where “S” represents “Season” and “E” represents “Episode”. Given that Amazon Prime streams almost all episodes of most of the seasons of The Amazing Race there is no need for me to download anything illegally. The first missing season on Amazon is season nine, which I’ve found out that I watched (and somewhat reviewed in this space) waaaaay back in early ’06.
My ninety minutes on the trainer this morning got me through the first episode of season four of The Amazing Race, which was ninety minutes itself when it aired in 2003, and about half of the second. I am certain that I have never seen this season because it contains a team consisting of two wives of (then) Atlanta Falcons players — Ashley Ambrose and Ray Buchanan — if the numbers on the jerseys worn by the women in the first episode were accurate for 2002. Each of these players played through the 2004 season, and since I know that no all-female team won The Amazing Race until a later season, I hope that they made prudent investments with their earnings.
My Monday Night German Class Will Make Or Break Me
“Intense” is the wrong word for this course, but having only three students in the class requires a lot more participation than I have normally been required to do. I think this will benefit me, at least I still hope that it will. If nothing else I’ve given it a good effort.
Come Ride With Me
I’ve added another riding event to my schedule, the GA400 Century, though I’ve registered for the metric century. This event will be held on Sunday July 10th, but if you register before February 29th the entrance fee is only $30, plus a service charge.
So far I have the following cycling events on my calendar for this year:
BRAG Spring Tune-Up
GA400 (Metric) Century
Vermont Brewery & Bike Tour
and I am contemplating a multi-day bike ride in Germany while I am there in June.
Now you understand why I am on the trainer as much as I am these days.
If you have signed up for an event, and would like company, please let me know what it is and I will consult my schedule. BRAG is most likely off the table since I will be getting ready for, if not en route to, Germany that week.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
I gave my trainer a solid half hour of power intervals last night while the rain poured down. As Debbie wasn’t feeling great, I told her I would bring the horses in after my ride. About halfway through, I see them coming in, despite the rain. She said she started feeling guilty.
In what little slack time I had yesterday, I called Loews about getting a receipt from March of last year. The telephone tree even has a listing for receipt replacement. The lady said it might be 5 days before it is emailed, but an hour or so later I got a call from the store. She explained that she didn’t think the system would go back that far, and it didn’t, but she tried. This was great customer service, IMHO.
Could it please stop raining?

Steve – what do you need the receipt for? Can’t you just get a store credit? If you are like us, you will use that credit soon enough.
We chilled last night – made some mexican crock pot chicken to go along with National Margarita Day. Tonight’s project is making enchiladas with the leftovers – and figuring out some mac & cheese recipe for Mac & Cheese party Wed. night at Bone Hole & Blue Ball’s.
We only have BRAG Spring Tune up on the calendar – found out the Spanish Groves are thinking about being here in the first half of August – so we need to figure out, possibly rearrange vacation days.
I think the rain is suppose to stop Thursday. I guess that we are still getting El Niño weather?
Don’t know why, but the term “Spanish Groves” made me chuckle.
It’s a warranty service, so not a return to the store. Again, Poulan CS was pretty good. I explained I didn’t have an actual receipt showing the purchase, but he said a bank statement would suffice. Hopefully, the repair won’t take long.
I read something recently about someone looking for a M&C recipe and someone called out Alton Brown. Worth a look.
I like that term, Spanish Groves.
There is a remote possibility that I tested Alton’s M&C recipe back in the day. Don’t remember completely though.
I think we may try a crock pot version – just because of the distance to drive there, and I don’t really want it to be cold.
Spanish Groves made me chuckle too. 🙂 And, for some reason, made me think of olives.
Stacy a return to trivia Thursday night? I got ahead of myself and almost typed “tomorrow” instead of “Thursday”. 🙂
Yes on Thursday trivia! And reminder: we have $60 to spend! 😀
