Waking up at 2:00am and then working for two hours because my brain was clear and ready to work certainly did not help in my effort to get up at a reasonable hour this morning. Because of this I didn’t get out of be until around 7:00m, which meant my commute this morning was less than efficient.
My late arrival means that I have to peck this blog post out while sitting in a meeting.
Good Night Of Laundry
The laundromat was fairly empty last night, which is always a welcome sight for me. After getting my laundry done I walked up to El Pollo Norteño, and instead of having my “usual” meal of wood-grilled chicken I tried their steak burrito. While tasty, I intend to return to my old order the next time I go there.
After getting home I did the unenviable task of putting away the clean clothes, before taking a subset of them out again. Once this task was done I laid down to do some of my reading chores before allowing myself to watch one of last year’s Top Chef Duels. I’ve previously watched the first four episodes, and have decided to watch those again prior to watching the ones I’ve yet to see. When I woke up the winner of the penultimate duel was being crowned. By my calculation I was asleep for a good three hours before waking up to this. At least I didn’t wake up to finding out who the overall winner was.
M6’s Maiden Voyage
After work tonight I will be taking the M6 on its maiden voyage. Together we’ll be driving to stay overnight near Valdosta, GA. Tomorrow morning we’ll make the remainder of the trip to my mother’s house where I will be spending the weekend.
I’m kind of excited about this trip. First, I will be getting to see my mother again for the first time since February 2014. And, this will be the first car trip I’ve taken on a couple of years that I’ve not had to rent a car for the journey.
To 6 Or Not To 6?
I’m considering tempting my luck today by buying an iPhone 6. The reason for the urgency is that Target has a sale on iPhones until Saturday (I think it’s 10% off), will give me a $50 gift card for buying one with a 2-year commitment to a US cell carrier, and said they will pay up to $325 for a working used cell phone (I’m sure my old iPhone 5 wouldn’t get nearly that much but if they offer my $100 or more I’d be thrilled.). The risk in all this is that since I am taking off for Florida today I may not have a completely configure cell phone for the journey. I should have taken care of this yesterday but I didn’t have the time in my schedule to do so. What do you think?
There will be a blog tomorrow, hopefully mentioning how uneventful my trip to Valdosta has been.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Debbie and I finished up getting out of the house last night about 7 o’clock. It was a long struggle and is still not yet completed as we’re just unloading things into the carport and only getting essentials into the house at this point.
We are continuing with the man cave and have 75% of its contents done. With the hot tub on a little 4 by 8 trailer a friend lent us we decided to punt, and call a wrecker service to get it all the way down to the house. The little trailer while doing its best, we think is over taxed for the job.
So the second pod unit almost made it to the new house last night. We met him on the road to the house broken down on the side with a flat tire. after 2 hours and still no pod I took him dinner and found that the whole rig was going to get towed to the yard for repair. We expect pod number 2 sometime this morning.
Anyone interested in some extra credit on Saturday would be welcomed.

Busy morning, then had a lunch outing for work.
Have a fun trip south – tell mom we all said hi! Win some money playing bingo!
I didn’t realize how much having guests exhausted me, I was asleep by 10pm last night, I rarely go to sleep before 11.
Just heard that Frankie’s in Rockmart is closing 3/28, we might have to do a little bike ride on SCT out there, just to do it. I’ve never stopped to eat there, I feel like I should.
Found out from my insurance company that *I* was supposed to report the sale of my car to the State. What a bunch of bullshit. I see no reason why the car dealer from which I purchased the M6 should not have reported that they also received the Jackmobile as part of the deal to the State, thus absolving me of having to prove that I no longer owned the car when its liability insurance expired.
did you call the dealership? that’s crazy.
Nah, I had the proof of trade in so I made copies of the paperwork and mailed it (certified) to the State at lunch.
Mental crisis averted. It appears (and don’t tell me if I am wrong) that the iPhones on sale at Target are the 16GB models. I need to move up from my current 16GB to a 64GB one, so there is no need for me to buy today.
