I Take The Fifth

I should probably just be quiet today because I know that anything I say today can and will be held against me in the future.

I spent almost the entirety of my night at Taco Mac. Yes, I know. Hey, at least I’m still making my bed on a daily basis.

Why I Think That Microsoft Is Stupid
Yesterday I had Microsoft Visio loaded on to my Windows computer at work. Visio is a flowcharting / graph-making application which I’ve succombed to use since the app I really want to use — OmniGraffle on the Mac is $100 for the “standard” version and $200 for the “pro” version (the only version that matters to me), and $50(!) for the iPad version — and in case you hadn’t heard, Sharpened Stone is not exactly making any money at the moment so I can’t justify such extravagances.

But back to Microsoft. When I first launched Visio yesterday I noticed that Microsoft Outlook (Microsoft’s email application) hung and virtually crashed. WTF? After rebooting twice I relaunched Outlook and it spent a good two minutes “configuring Visio and gathering information.”

Seriously? Is it just me? I know that Visio and Outlook are both part of Microsoft’s Office Suite, but should the two applications be so intertwined?

I went to lunch yesterday at a different Las Tortas Locas, specifically the one on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. The storefront next to that Las Tortas Locas used to house a Clear store which has all but been emptied out except for this half-eaten bag of pretzel sticks.
Sticking It To The Man
I wonder how hard it would be to start a company called “Mister Salty” today. Who would fund a venture with such a name these days?

I Don’t Know If The Gods Are Crazy But I Know That I Am
I’ve packed a running bag for this afternoon. Have you seen the weather forecast? I’m planning on getting in 3.5 miles in this crap (I don’t do treadmills). I have to get my run and shower done early enough so that I can head over to the Northlake area by 7:15pm and play Team Trivia tonight at Mellow Mushroom. Before you say anything, tonight’s meal will be light and alcohol free. I told you that I was crazy.

WARNING: If There Is A Blog Tomorrow It Shall Be Brief
I’ll be waking very early to drive Clemson, SC through the shitty weather that is predicted to hit us tonight and tomorrow. Tomorrow is Clemson University’s career fair. Further, I have no plan to bring my laptop so this will be an iOS only business trip for me. Wish me luck. 🙂

Tell Katherine I say Hi! I’m guessing you are playing with them. Who else plays trivia at that Mellow Mushroom?
We might, I say might, go to Billy Jack’s tonight, but I really don’t want to eat there (nothing against the food at all, just trying not to eat out so much, trying to have a month without my credit card bill total be so shocking). So, maybe we will eat first & then go over there. Maybe……

Was this Las Tortas Locas as good as the other one?

BTW – I do need to get my oil changed sometime in the not to distant future, my brake light came on one day in the cold, but then went back off, my check engine light came on, but then went back off, so I haven’t been in a rush to get over to Chambodia.

  2. I am indeed. I’ll say hello to her for you.

I’m paying and quickly forgetting this month’s round of credit cards.

While the food is nearly identical I like the Las Tortas Locas near Lam’s better. The one on Roswell Rd is across from the old American Pie and as anyone who has ever driven around there knows, the traffic is horrendous.

I was going to try and get an oil change before tomorrow, but that’s not going to happen. Maybe next Monday? I fly to Raleigh next Tuesday.

One of the things Debbie and I miss is doing trivia on Tuesday nights. I would like to make it up on Thursdays to Raging Burito on the Square if you are still playing there sometime.

Running? At lunch? In the rain? I’m impressed. Really.

I’ll be heading up to Ohio on Thursday, I’m hoping to be back Sunday night, Monday at the lastest. Let me know when you think you will be over this way.

I skipped the gym yesterday morning, I was so tired and the thought of 150 wall balls was just too much. I brought my stuff and was planning on hitting the treadmill/elipical at work…but I’m coming down with something and went straight home after work instead.

I’m thinking Las Tortas Locas sounds good, I can’t have a torta but could grab a few tacos. I might have to get the chicken soup at Matador for dinner tonight.

  5. Barb says:

Steve – let’s plan a trivia night – but not in Decatur 😉

Martha – can’t have a torta? are you still doing the no gluten thing?

  6. Barb says:

oh yeah – Zipline thing we bought up at the Ocoee……. some parrothead friends are talking about Saturday April 30th – that weekend works for us too – any of you free that weekend? They are looking into rentinga cabin, but there are tons of campgrounds around too…..

  7. Steve says:

I have a niece getting married that day, so I’ll have to think about it 🙂

Barb, we’re not good at trivia, but I think we’d be game.

  8. Martha says:

I thought I would give gluten free another week. I think I’m seeing some improvement but I’m not sure. I bought a loaf of GF bread last night, anyone need a door stop??? I doubt I will go GF long term but if cutting back on it will reduce some of my symptoms I might go that route.

Remind me in a couple of weeks about Ocoee, once we get stuff sorted out in Cincy we can start making plans. I think it will do Jerry good to get away for a long weekend.

  9. Vic says:

We streamed “Exit Through the Gift Shop” this weekend. It was really good. I’m still thinking about that one…

  10. I’ll consult my calendar, but I am fairly certain that I am free that weekend.

Not running at lunch, food being brought in for me today(!), but I do plan to run around 16:00 -16:30 so that I can shower and fight traffic to Northlake.

We’ve not done Thursday night trivia in some time. I’d like to get out and do trivia more often if a convenient night/location can be found.

  11. Jenka says:

    I love trivia!

You should not feel bad for going back to Taco Mac if that place makes you feel comfortable. I like the feeling of knowing the servers, bartenders and owners. Being a regular has its benefits! These days you can find David and me at either Six Feet Under or the Shed on pretty much any weeknight.

I’d like the record to show that even though Paulie was unable to post an entry, we were here.

  13. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Duly noted. I’m setting up in Clemson currently.

  14. Barb says:

okay- 2nd day without a blog by 9am? What’s up with that?

Another day when the bill-paying job took priority. :^/
