As I awoke from a restless night of sleep with a sore back, shoulder and elbow this morning I remembered three things:
1) I bowled terribly yesterday. I thought that I found my groove at one point but that passed quickly.
2) When I got home I ate two pieces of pizza that I had in the freezer.
3) I had a great time at Cheddarhead, even if my night apparently ended with tweeting the full blown version of the hash’s favorite saying “FYYFF”.
I don’t remember much else.
Cheddarhead, Oh Cheddarhead
This year marks my tenth year of hashing. In those years I missed the annual Cheddarhead Hash twice — once because some friends of mine got married in Boston on January 1st, and once because I was attending a January 1st birthday party for someone with whom I was trying to make inroads (I got nowhere, I should have gone to Cheddarhead).
By and large the organizers of Cheddarhead have orchestrated a great event. During the years of my attendance we’ve had snow once, otherwise the weather has been fantastic. Yesterday’s weather was nearly perfect, and did not deter approximately 190 people to come out and celebrate the day.
The trail was a typical Cheddarhead affair. It had a little shiggy, a great Wisconsin beer stop, and then an easy trail to the end. What makes Cheddarhead is the ending however. I gorged on fried cheese curds, poutine, a Johnsonville brat, and beer. I’d blame the food intake for my poor bowling, but I consumed the same fare prior to my two bowling wins.
Overall the day was filled with fun and seeing a bunch of people that I haven’t see in a long time.

The other night I joined a friend for dinner and a little walkabout the Jesus Junction portion of Buckhead.
I don’t shoot night photography often. However, when I do I enjoy playing around with longer exposures.
I’ve Only Fifteen Days Of Vacation, Today Would Be One Used
I’m using one of my precious paid vacation days today. For a four-day weekend (albeit the weather is not going to cooperate much) I think it’s a PDO well spent.
I am going to attempt to be productive today, but I’m not going to beat myself up if I am not. In the queue are eating at some point, doing some reading (just look at those goals!), and a continuation of cleaning my dining room. I also will try to determine the fate of my xbox360 after making confirmation that its hard drive had indeed died.

Cheers,

I didn’t even break 100 on my 2/3 of a bowling game yesterday, but I’m blaming that on Lisa.
It was a good time yesterday, saw so many people I haven’t seen since last Cheddarhead, but I never got any cheese curds. I just never got around to waiting in line, and then, they were gone.
and – you don’t remember what provoked the FYYFF last night?
I haven’t missed a Cheddarhead since I started hashing, yesterday was #5. I ate almost nothing yesterday, GE shared his cheese curds with me, to be honest they weren’t as good as years past.
I think I broke 100 on both games but I won’t swear to it, the end of the last game was a little blurry.
So who’s going down to the Day Spa Sunday? Tom and I will be there.
I’m thinking Nick’s for a late lunch/dinner today, depending on when I get my run in, if you’re interested. Though it isn’t much of a day for a picnic.
I have little recollection of the evening. I never saw either final score, mostly because I knew they weren’t that good and I have absolutely no idea why I FFYFF’ed. In fact, I didn’t remember doing it! I woke up to a text message asking me if I was okay, and a Facebook comment saying “Now that’s the Paulie I remember.” HAHAHAHA!
I’m going down to the Day Spa on Sunday. I’m hoping for beautiful weather because my plan is to go down early and seek out some free-standing hearths.
I’m meeting up with the North Carolinians for dinner so I can’t do Nick’s (and I ate a very late breakfast by my standards). Next time.
I did not bowl…didn’t want to take the chance of dropping a bowling ball on my foot just when I have been given permission to start walking again!
I did eat cheese curds (both fired and raw) and the brats! Went home fat and happy.
We will not be going to the day spa. It’s the annual GUTS Fat Ass 50k on Sunday and I plan on trying to walk one of the loops. And since I am one of the organizers I am there to the bitter end….helping with clean up. We did score a keg of Sweetwater 420 so I’ll have a few in Steve’s honor. Will be drinking beer and eating chili.
Happy birthday Steve and welcome to my decade!
I figured that’s why I didn’t see you at the bowling alley Sal.
If memory serves me well then Dipstick and Skin Flute Pie were this year’s bowling champions.
We considered coming out to the Cheddarhead, but got busy setting the burn pile on fire and other chores, so stayed home. We celebrated New Years with collards, black eyed peas and corn bread- no brats.
Thanks for all the good wishes!!

Yours and Debbie’s absence was noticed. Glad I’ll get to see you both on Sunday however.
Allan & I (& TJ & Mary) will be there on Sunday. Mary has been wracking her brain on what to bring, since she has been told no gifts……. so Steve look out, you just never know if she has come up with something, shall I say, interesting.
I think I’ve missed maybe 2 Cheddarheads in 14 years of hashing, I’ll have to look at the list to see if I”m guessing right.
If anyone out there *is* seeing that fancy-pants Amazon widget please let me know. I’m not seeing it and I have no idea why I am not.
Yet another great time at Chedderhead! I too have only missed a couple over my 10 years of hashing. I just could not pull it together while bowling though, oh well there is always next year.
Great seeing everybody too! It’s really cool to see all the old time hashers come out from under the rocks they have been hiding.
Who else is “working” today? I can’t believe I didn’t take this day off.
I see it
Huh, I wonder why I am not? I’m not blocking ads or anything, so I should still be seeing it. Meh, that’s a problem for another time. 🙂 Thanks for the reply Martha.
I see the widget too. I’m at work, just got back from lunch, and will spend all afternoon wasting time reading crap on the internets……….
Paul, check the link in your 2k9 goals for your smugmug page. It’s got an extra “”” on the end of the URL that’s messing it up.
Thanks Barb and Rich.
Okay, the Amazon widget was a complete user error. Once I realized that it was showing using Safari then I knew that I had a Firefox anomaly. Then I saw that I was blocking ads on my site through Firefox after all.
Paulie,
I had a great time in ATL this past weekend. Paulie, I enjoyed our conversation. I really enjoyed seeing all these other readers of this blog. To all of you of folks, should you pass through Greensboro please give me call, I have space for you.Dogs and kids are welcome.
It was great to see you too Whiner. Glad you had fun and you can guarantee that I’ll be up to Greensboro this summer.
