A New Month, A Partially New Set Of Goals
Two months are in the books and let’s face it, I’ve done a shitty job accomplishing my goals. So this month I’m taking a slightly different approach. Read on…

1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs?)
I should have stepped on to the scale this morning, but didn’t. Therefore I will to do so tomorrow and update the starting weight. Christ I hope it’s no higher than 205.

2) Run no fewer than thirty miles.
I’ve not come close to doing fifty miles in either January or February so I’ve knocked this down. I am hoping with warmer weather I’ll desire to run more as well, as long as my body can handle it.

3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
I think that the problems I’ve had with this one in the past two months is that I’ve not scheduled when it should occur. In March I will think “hey, it’s Monday, I’m supposed to be doing push-ups and sit-ups.” We’ll see how well that> works.

4) Finish February’s book and read at least one more.
This is kind of self-explanatory.

5) Take Marta to work at least ten times.
I succeeded at “one time a week” in February, now I want to increase my ridership. I’ve started the month holding a seven-day pass which should encourage me to ride more often.

6) File my Income Taxes.
My taxes are more complex this year than ever before. I will have take a stab at them soon, and if I can’t complete them hunt down a tax specialist to do the deed. I expect this goal to be a slam dunk.

7) Wear “nicer” clothes to work at least one day a week.
I have a closet full of clothes which are nicer than jeans and t-shirts. Admittedly many of those don’t fit my current body. I have never been a slave to fashion, but it certainly can’t hurt my desire to meet women if I stopped dressing like a slob.

I walked over to Target at lunch yesterday with $100 to spend and this is what I walked out with

Last Day Of Flexible Medical Spending

And this is how close I came to hitting my $100 target (no pun intended). Not bad, it was as if I was on a game show!

And I Had $100 To Spend...

Effectively I lost $1.17, but I can live with that. This assumes that I get reimbursed for everything I purchased of course.

A Man About Town — High Society
Tonight I’ll be hobnobbing at the High Museum with the other Splenda Mommas and Daddies (those who desire to be Sugar Mommas and Daddies but don’t have the income) of Atlanta. The event tonight is a preview of what’s to come next with the Louvre exhibit for Contributing members of the High Museum. I’m really just going to see who else is foolish enough to be a Contributing member of the High.

Because of today’s awful weather forecast I am trying something a little different today. I’ve driven in to work and then will Marta to the High after work. By the time I Marta back to my car I expect that tonight’s traffic snarl will have subsided. Find out tomorrow if I was right.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – indecisive
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Pulp — “Do You Remember The First Time”
Website Of The Day – The Weather Channel has recently changed the weather radar they show on their website and I hate it. I’ve since changed allegiances and find myself going to the National Weather Service for my weather information.
Exercise (b)Log – none, I met up with my buddy Darren at George’s. Funny though once we got there we started talking to different groups of hashers and didn’t talk to each other the entire evening.

March Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs?)
2) Run no fewer than thirty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
4) Finish February’s book and read at least one more.
5) Take Marta to work at least ten times.
6) File my Income Taxes.
7) Wear “nicer” clothes to work at least one day a week.

  1. Steve says:

I hoped you dressed up for the visit to the High tonight. I would think that would be a good opportunity to meet women in a low stress situation.

    I’m just sayin..

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    but of course…

  3. betsy says:

And while at the High, try to avoid mention of your recent Target purchases, specifically the Imodium tablets and the Burt’s Bees essential body kits.

    I’m just sayin…

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Missed you at George’s last night Betsy.

I’ll agree with the Immodium, but wouldn’t the use of Burt’s Bees products be a good thing? 🙂

  5. Barb says:

damn – that Burt’s Bees stuff is expensive. I never thought to add sunscreen to the list, I might have to remember that.

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’ll let you know whether or not I get compensated for those. I bought them as a gamble.

  7. Sarah says:

I completely agree … the new radar on weather.com sux. It’s completely useless. I use Radar In Motion widget for Mac OSX. Currently have a weather channel feed on that. Hope it doesn’t change, too.

  8. Gentri says:

    Yo Paulie,
yeah, that was kind of funny last night! Have to choose somewhere in the EAV next time so we actually remember to talk to one another!

Talk to Doggy Style re: taxes. I’ve used him the last 3 years and am NEVER doing my own again as long as I have a rental. He found stuff to take off that I would have never thought to!

I have to agree with you about dressing up. As someone who got out of the habit of shopping at A&F, Banana Republic, long ago, and started (shall I even admit to this?) getting clothes from…. samsclub (insert horror movie scream here), I can’t say that I tear up the fashion scene either…. assuming I could even FIND that scene.

They do say that clothes make the man….

    They’re just sayin’….
