I had half of a really good day yesterday, spending the morning choring in WLF. I burned some branches, cleared more grass and weeds, and continued to clean up. And then, after lunch the hammer fell and I started sneezing violently and had a runny nose. I popped an allergy pill to no avail, and, combined with the news that my healthcare plan is going up $300/month if I don’t find a new (and let’s be honest, worse) plan, my day and night were ruined. Unfortunately I have awoken with a stuffed up nose. I can only hope that things get better today.

Halloween is but a week away? Wow.

I believe it was Confucius who said “He who struggles with Connections will triumph at Wordle, and vice versa”

I had a fattening weekend that has pushed me over the edge. While I got some exercise during the beautiful weather, it was not enough to overcome the massive amount of calories I consumed.

I was fixated on, and then defeated by, the Purple category.

Yet another day on the farm, this time listening and watching the crew fell the tall tree across the street.

I baked a pizza from Aldi last night. They no longer sell the inexpensive, yet delicious pizzas I used to purchase so I bought the larger cheese pizza that is priced as the others. This was a mistake, as its flavor was only saved by topping it with WLF peppers.

It look as as if the Atlanta metro will lose another brewery soon. Pontoon Brewing will close its two locations at the end of this month. The owners are looking for a buyer for their business, which I have my doubts will occur.

I’ve done a poor job of decluttering recently. Today I will attempt to clean/organize (some of) the ITP Estate and restart that effort.

Thought I had things to say today, but I can’t think of anything at the moment.

Fair day yesterday. Made one repair to my house that I am hoping doesn’t cause a new issue to arise, time will tell.

I received my new bike light in the mail yesterday. I guess that’s why I decided to go riding last night. It was a fast night (for us), and I struggled to keep up. My health/fitness was part of my problem, but also my chain skipped about six times when I got out of the saddle to pedal. My bike definitely needs new bar tape, and after last night May also need a new chain? It might be time to schedule an appointment with my Marietta Mechanic, aka Allan.

I did something yesterday I haven’t done in a very long time. No, not that, i listened (streamed) an entire album front to back. While slowly solving a jigsaw puzzle I listened to Soundgarden’s “Superunknown”. Highly recommend doing this with an album you used to listen to often, but have not done so in awhile.

No Betsy dinner tonight, so I am flying solo. I wonder what I will make…

Yesterday I kicked around the ITP Estate all day. Today I intend to do the same. With darkness and colder weather tonight I am not sure that I will be riding; I might be the definition of a “fair weather cyclist”.

Though I have some regrets, I just wasn’t in the mood to attend Oakhurst Porchfest on Saturday, even though the weather turned perfect. I’m realizing that my desire to do certain things has wained in the past eighteen months. A lot of this has to do with reasons, some of it has to do with Florida, and some of if has to do with my health. It’s a confluence of crap with which I am dealing, and need to crack sooner rather than later.

Now that I have lost two of my British game shows I have returned to another, who has decided to upload their full episodes to YouTube on their official channel. I have returned to watching Taskmaster, a show I discovered in 2020 when people were uploading it to YouTube. It appears I made a good decision to binge watch “The Great American Baking Show”, the videos uploaded to YouTube have since been removed.

Though the balls of my feet still hurt me, yesterday I went on a four-mile hike with Barb and Kevin, at a much more sane pace than I hiked last weekend. We hiked up at Allatoona Pass. After the hike Barb and I tried the new Tasty China location. The game has unfortunately changed, most of the people working at the restaurant are not Asian, the food prices have risen, and the portions have shrunk. Pity. Barb and I then watched the first three episodes of this season’s Survivor.

Sometimes I have bad luck, and sometimes I am dumb. In my travels yesterday I went to Ollie’s on Buford Highway. I purchased along with other things, a jigsaw puzzle for $5. While I was sitting in the bar with Hank yesterday I received an email from Ollie’s to receive 15% off my next purchase; this is bad luck since I just made a purchase. When I returned home I discovered that I purchased a second copy of the same jigsaw puzzle; this is me being dumb since I couldn’t recall which puzzle I had purchased previously. Yes, I could return the puzzle, hell I could return and repurchase everything (except the jigsaw puzzle obviously) to get my 15% discount, but Ollie’s is far enough away to where I may spend more in gas returning than I would save.

Unlike many months recently I have been chowing down on meat in October. Yesterday I ate chicken wings, and ground pork at lunch. And then, I returned home to eat sweet and sour chicken for dinner. I have no regrets for either meal because it was all delicious.

Dangen, some of my favorite British game shows on YouTube are being blocked by the content owners. If there were a way to watch this content legally I’d be doing that, but the shortsightedness of network suits has driven me to YouTube to watch them. Sadly however, ability to watch these showed which helped me get through the rough times of the pandemic has been squashed.

Given that there is a weird, water-like substance falling from the sky, I spent time yesterday afternoon tearing out some warm weather plants and replacing them with colder weather crops like lettuce and kale.

My go to iOS weather app, CARROT Weather, has been letting me down of late. I reported an issue to the developer, whose response was “Yeah, it’s an issue, update to iOS 17 to fix it.” Um, requiring an OS update is a really shitty way to handle a problem. What if my device was unable to update? This is an app for which I pay a subscription as well, though that might not be the case if I can find a new app to replace it.

Did you know that there is a new series of “The Great American Baking Show”? Did you know that there is a service called “The Roku Channel”, on which this program is shown? I didn’t either until last night. Sadly there is no “The Roku Channel” tvOS app, so the only way I can watch the programming on my tv is to play it on my iPad and cast it to my tv.

It was a busy day yesterday, culminated with a delicious creamy gnocchi dish using this Creamy Spinach Gnocchi recipe made by yours truly.

Amazon Prime Big Deal Days are over, and my sprinklers never went back on sale so I didn’t buy any. During the past two days I bought some small sheet pans with racks, a new cycling light, and some toothbrush heads for my electric toothbrush.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was TRUNK. Even though yesterday’s solution was SKUNK, I took my chances that Wordle wouldn’t start with an S three consecutive days.

Well shit, I think I have a critter (probably a squirrel) that has worked its way into my attic. When I was working in the yard I thought I heard noise which I initially thought was a woodpecker working in a dead branch. It wasn’t until I stopped to listen that I determined the source of the noise was coming from the eaves of the ITP Estate. The ITP Estate has some rotting eaves, and I was hoping to get through another winter without any animal penetrating the attic. Next year I expect to bite the bullet and get the roof replaced, eaves repaired and painted, and perhaps even new gutters. Why yes, that will be expensive. In the meanwhile I have scheduled a company to come out to look into trapping the critter, and helping me assess the situation.

Because I’ve not been feeling great this week I decided to skip riding last night. I did go out to join the gang for a couple of beers, mostly because I wanted to deliver the bike stand.

I wonder if I will ever be healthy and happy again?
