Today’s Daily Challenge
Lie face-up with a towel in your hands, lift your shoulders off the ground, and repeat four times.
Can you feel your abdominals working? This challenge calls on the muscles in your core in order to lift your upper body off the floor. Strong core muscles are an important part of good posture, balance, and stability; they are also necessary for everyday activities like bending and lifting. Finally, a strong core contributes to a healthy, injury-free back.
I Don’t Know When To Say When
Last night a group of “adults” went out for dinner and drinks. We started the night at Pasta da Pulcinella because I thought that would offer a fair amount of vegetarian fare (I was not so right about that) but no one went hungry, nor anyone complain to me, so I guess we did alright.
In the growing cold we wandered to some bar in midtown which turned out to allow smoking, so we wandered further and landed at Ri Ra, which turns out to be a much larger Irish bar than I imagined, and was having “live band karaoke” last night. I’d tell you all about the karaoke but in the two hours we sat drinking the band did little more than set up for their gig. I was feeling no pain at the time, but I wasn’t quite drunk enough to either sing karaoke, or talk to any of the women I thought were attractive. While at the bar we endlessly discussed the history of Cheddarhead, much to the chagrin of ITP-Reader Randy’s brother Kevin, a hasher who has no interest in hashing. We never did figure out the proper order for the past six years; turns out the Atlanta Hash’s Cheddarhead History page was last updated in 2008.

“What, You Don’t Own Corduroy Chucks?”
They scream “2009” (I bought them in 2010 and finally started wearing them last year — go figure) but I love them.
The Most Inane Television I Have Ever Watched
After returning from our night our we went to Sanitary’s house (Randy’s mother’s house) and had a final nightcap. While doing so Randy and I watched what is perhaps the most brain-dead tv I have ever seen — TruTV’s “Guinness Book of World Records Unleashed”. One the show we watched the following Guinness Book of World Records be attempted:
- a dog removing socks off of people’s feet
- a woman eating an entire pizza, using only one hand, in under two minutes
- a guy breaking plates by serving tennis balls, blindfolded
- a guy trying to be launched further than anyone else via an inflated bladder by having three friends jump from a platform and landing on the opposite end
This is what “American television” has become.
Perhaps we watched it because it went with our Irish bar theme, or perhaps we were just too tired and sloshed to change the channel.
I arrived home some time after 1:00am (which explains why this blog post is late).
Slowing Down
I’m taking this weekend for myself, no drinking, no carousing, nothing. I need a break.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and will catch up again on Monday.

Books I’ve Read/Heard In 2013
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Here’s what we figured out in regards to Cheddarhead:
2014 – Primer / Service
2013 – Afterbirth
2012 – Primer / Service
2011 – Little Willy
2010 – Robin Red Breast (I had the stomach flu and started trail but did not finish)
2009 – ???
2008 – Rat’s Ass
2007 – Surly’s mom
2006 – Yeast Infection
2005 – Sanitary / Bunny (I was at a wedding in Boston)
2004 – Bagless
2003 – Fag Pipes (wow, that’s a long time ago!)
2002 – Primer / Service (I was at a birthday party trying to get laid — and failed)
2001 – Condo’s parent’s
2000 – Erection Master’s parent’s
the rest is “pre-Wee Little Bit”
What frustrates me is that I read my blog post from 1/2009 and I neither specifically mention either the ending nor the bowling alley at which we bowled. 🙁
I remember Condo’s parents only because it was snowing! I do remember hosting at the “Bluebird” house, but just barely.
A lovely dinner last night by my charming bride (we are hosting Ella and Alex while their mom Meg is working) consisting of pork lion, collards and English peas. The collards are straight out of the can and while I’m not a greens eater, these are really good.
While I’m supposed to have today off, my coworker Sam decided he wanted today off, so I’m somewhat on call. A little work, and then off to do some errands.
And Paulie, I think you might have lost your “instructor” status… drunk on a weeknight? Really.
Ri Ra is just down the street from the office and I’ve never been in it. Maybe it would be too tempting to have a delicious libation at lunch.

Paulie I have seen you more the last week than in the last 2 months. Good to hang out with you and the Bebe’s, Laura and I had fun last night.
This morning was spent at the DMV, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to renew my license in 1 hour. However, I could only get a 5 year license because of the motorcycle endorsement. I found that sort of odd.
This afternoon I will be spending some time at the doctors office having my hand looked at. It still hurts like a mutha so want to have it looked at to make sure there is no permanent damage.
Steve, I’m a “functional” drunk. 😉
I think you’d like Ri Ra for lunch, if you can avoid the temptation.
Oddly I remember a snapshot of all of the Cheddarheads I’ve attended. The one that ended at Steve’s house was the year I brought Jeannie and her friend Amy. The real humor in the Cheddarhead conversation was the types of life events that helped people remember where they were; I listed mine in the first comment, Lisa was talking about kids throwing up while Laura was using pink-eye and being on bed rest as milestones. LOL.
The way you were bowling I’d never know your hand hurt at all, Bob. Hope things check out well.
I’m sure I was there in 2009, I’ll check my flick account, see if there are any clues…looks like the start was at Northeast Plaza. That may have been the year it was held at a non-hasher house (seem to remember some large communal back yard with a trampoline)??
I’d just like to say, f’ it’s cold outside. The trip to the gym was quite unpleasant this morning. So much so, I ended up taking a nap when I got back…only made me about 45 minutes late for work. I’m going to miss these holiday commutes.
Oh yeah, mark your calendars for January 11th (a week from tomorrow). HOCKEY IN GWINNETT!
And I just checked Flickr — I got nothing….
I too believe it started at Northeast Plaza and I think it’s the last time I saw “Rogue Anus” at a hash.
Okay, a little more investigation (am I supposed to work today?) yielded a definite start at Northeast Plaza and what appears to be an ending in Afterbirth’s back yard.
So, our systems are completely down again today. I went home at lunch & am using my hotspot & my iPad for some entertainment.
Sorry I missed out last night, but I was tired & really felt like I needed a down night (and I wanted to go to yoga).
It wasn’t Afterbirth’s house I think, but someone he knew, or very nearby, the house was empty. I just had lunch (by accident) with Enema, he came into Doc Greens 5 minutes after I got there. I’d call him & ask, but I don’t feel I want to put that much effort into it.
And, now if feel like I need to contact Amy……
And, I like the Chucks.
