Know that I am in pain.
Know that I cannot discuss my pain with you.
Know that my pain most likely does not relate to anything about which you are thinking.
Know that there is nothing you can do to alleviate my pain.
Know that this pain may never go away.
And you will understand me.
Read Along With Me
Today’s passage from Notes To Myself.
The question I could ask myself after receiving criticism is, “Does his statement give me any insight into myself?” not “Is it true?” If I say “That’s true,” those words really mean “I think about myself in the same way.” No one knows whether or not it is true.
To all who have helped me — Thanks.
My Car WTF’s Me!
After forking over $640 (can’t forget the taxes!) I drove the Jackmobile home. I almost didn’t make it all the way home, however. About a mile from the house I heard an awful metal-on-metal or metal-on-ground noise which made me pull over. I thought for sure that I was dragging something on the ground. Inspection under the car revealed nothing. As I pulled slowly forward the noise continued and then stopped. I drove it home, around the block a few times, and then in to work this morning with the windows open and heard nothing (unusual). I am really fucking confused.
Meet Me At The Midway
Upon reaching the house I was overdue for a beer. Fortunately just as I pulled into the drive Martha (aka Laura) was running by on her Monday night run. We agreed to meet up at East Atlanta’s newest hotspot The Midway Pub. I chose The Midway for a few reasons, one of which was because it is a block closer to my house than the other bars in the village. What the hell, if I am not going to run I might as well be all-out lazy.
At The Midway I consumed chicken tenders (which were good), tater tots (which were very good), edamame (which was very good), and a couple of Lagunitas Censored (which were great).

My photos of Dead Confederate are getting little love on Flickr
So I’ll pimp them here.
I Wonder If I Could Paint That Too
Last night I got around to watching My Kid Could Paint That. The film which is a documentary that came out last year follows the story of a four-year girl name Marla Olmstead who took the art world by storm by producing incredibly popular abstract paintings. However, all is not rosy for the Olmstead family when an art expert being interviewed for a 60 Minutes segment concludes that there is no way the young girl could have produced the artwork. At that point many conclude that the girl’s father is the real painter and he is peddling off the work, and fantastic prices I might add, as his daughters. All attempts to capture the painting process fail, although the parents produce a DVD of footage that they produced which show young Marla painting a piece to be known as “Ocean.” In the end no real conclusions are drawn — the parents maintain that all of the work is their daughter’s but doubts still loom.
In reading a user review I see that I should have watched the DVD extras before sending it back to Netflix. Oh well, maybe I’ll re-add it to my queue.
CD Pick Of The Week
There are actually a few discs which intrigue me today, although I’ll be honest to let you know that I’ve heard nothing from any of them.
- Joseph Arthur (solo?) has a EP that Metacritic calls “[Title TBA]”. I have a hard time believing that this is the real title however.
- Death Cab For Cutie return with “Narrow Stairs”
- Old 97’s return with “Blame It On Gravity”
Do any of these tickle your fancy? If not what does?
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – depressed
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Black Keys — “Your Touch”
Website Of The Day – I need some humor in my day so I will steal Terri’s suggestion from yesterday Homestar Runner.

Monthly Foot Mileage – 6 miles
Monthly Wheel Mileage – 25 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car (listening intently for noises)
Monthly Marta Rides – 9
Consecutive Days Of Bed-Making (Longest Streak) – 43 (43)
May Goals
1) Run no fewer than 75 miles
2) Ride no fewer than 100 road miles

5) Make my bed every day
Cheers,

So have you called the Honda place back and let them know something aitn’t right? Operators are standing by!!

I called them on my way home last night. I’ve not had the opportunity to get in touch with them today (and frustratingly they have not returned last night’s message). With the car *not* making noises today I don’t really know what to tell them.
Sounds as if someone left a tool hanging around that finally fell out… I hope.

I thought that too but didn’t see anything. I just talked to Curry and am taking it back in for another look this morning.
My guy didn’t call me because he is not scheduled to work today.
There’s the problem….you took it to a dealer!!!!
Been taking it there since Day 1 (not the dealer from which I bought it because they were way out near Six Flags). Curry was the dealer which resurrected it post-carjacking.
The dealer costs more, but also offers shuttle service. For me, as a singleton, this is an amazing perk because I never have to “find” a ride.
I agree, shuttle service is a very nice perk. But, I still love my vietnamese mechanic over in Chambodia, he is the best. So totally inconvenient now that I live in Marietta, but my car has over 160,000 miles on it now, and he is only one I’ve ever had work on it. I can’t mess with that karma.
that reminds me, I’m about due for an oil change…..
Back from second look, nothing found. Now the game begins!
