Because I needed to swing by my tax preparer’s office near Decatur this morning I decided to try a different routine. Today I drove over to the LA Fitness in midtown and did my hour of treadmill (Galloway Method) there. For the record, I can’t imagine anyone running outside with this pollen; the air was literally grossly yellow/green with the stuff as I drove in to work.
This year’s taxes provided an unusually “good” result; yes I know getting money back from taxes is giving the Government an interest-free loan. This comes at an especially good time as I continue to look into the cost of repairing the ITP Estate.
Today’s Daily Challenge
Stand with your fingers on the back of your head, lower your upper body into a squat, and jump.
This challenge calls on the power of your quads (the large muscles on the front of your thighs) and your calves to propel you upward as you jump. The short, quick jumps also get your heart pumping and inject a bit of energy into your day.
Taking The Long Way Around
After consulting Google Maps I decided to head out of work “early” (read “5:10pm”)so that I could make it downtown comfortably for my theatre outing. This is not to say that I didn’t experience heavy traffic on my circuitous route around 285 to 20, but I was able to make it downtown in time to eat dinner at the Landmark(?) diner near Theatrical Outfit and then go see “The Fabulous Lipitones.”
“The Fabulous Lipitones” was fabulously funny and entertaining, this coming from someone who really doesn’t care much for Barbershop Quartet singing. I’ll implore you to go see it, but hurry because its run ends at the end of next week.

“Not Part Of A Healthy Diet”
I love biscuits, even when they are Pillsbury frozen ones, that I slather with butter.
My waistline is skeptical of my brain’s love for this as “breakfast.”
Hey Nerd, How’s The Art?
Tonight I plan to attend a Tweetup (oh, I remember the ones Maigh used to organize, including the one at The Original El Taco where I think I blew it with two women in whom I had interest dating…) at the High Museum of Art. I believe that some of my tweeting coworkers will be joining me so that I don’t look and feel like a complete loser; nope I just found out that they are bailing on me. I hope to see some of the Freida & Diego exhibit followed by a beer and dinner.
Today’s Personal Project
Pay for my tax preparation; be productive at work; get down to midtown for the tweetup.

I ran yesterday morning, my lungs didn’t really feel it but my black shorts had streaks of yellow by the time I returned home. Saturday was much worse, only because I was out in it for 9 hours…
I got money back this year, it along with my small bonus from work are just sitting in my savings account, waiting for word from the contactor and bank. We’re getting closer, should have the final plans very soon.
Traffic hasn’t been bad this week, I think APS is on spring break which helps.
I think you are correct about spring break. However, for some reason traffic in and out of the Perimeter Mall area keeps getting effed. This morning the cause of grief was an accident 285 Westbound near Peachtree/Dunwoody.
I think going 285 to 20 to get downtown is always going to take you longer to than going 400 to the connector. Unless the interstate in completely blocked & stopped, it would be faster to go thru town. I think you just like to drive around sometimes. Glad the show was good.
I get to pay the Federal Govt on monday – Turbo tax has it all set – I just need to be sure I have plenty of money in my account.
Anybody got any suggestions on what I should make for dinner tonight? I didn’t take anything out of the freezer, so I’ll be going shopping at lunch of after work.
Google Maps showed red heading south from the Grady all the way to Buckhead. I’m not saying that Google Maps is perfect, but I think in this case my long route was the better option.
Hmmm, if I were going to the store for food tonight I would probably make the Confetti Stuffed Burritos I linked to two days ago.
Which Midtown LA Fitness do you go to? I’ll need to keep an eye out for you!
I’m actually going to take a tip from you too. You always seem to be doing something fun: a concert or play or tweetup or whatever. I’ve fallen into a rut of not doing much lately. Please keep the tips coming with “recommend this!”/”don’t bother with this”….this ITP reader is going to use them!
I’m going to run outside after work tonight. Pollen doesn’t really bother me. I do hope it rains, though, so my car gets washed off!
I do my taxes in January. Without fail, every year when people talk about doing their taxes in April I think tax season has come around AGAIN. Boy, that year went by fast! Heh.
Will do Stacy. I went to the one on 5th Street.
Good on ya, Jenka. You do your taxes before getting your W2? Impressive!
Yes, while I can’t file my taxes until I get all my forms, you can have a majority of the work done, then just fill in the blanks (I use TurboTax so it is all right there). All the information on you W-2 is on the last paycheck of the year as well.
The skies are getting pretty overcast on this side of town…wont be long now.
When I worked off Chamblee-Tucker, I would take I285 to 20 home everynight. It was usually faster than the connector but I think having to drive through the I85/I285 junction would void any other gains made.
I think dinner tonight will be pan fried tilapi, I have no idea what we will have with it.
Since I am going to the High for the Tweetup tonight my dinner will most likely be consumed at a restaurant. I’m thinking of giving Tap another go (haven’t been back since my ill-fated last date seven months or so a go.)
I’ve come to the point in my life where it is “easier” for me to collect all of the paperwork and turn it over to a professional to do my taxes. For her my taxes, especially this year, are probably super-simple, but it avoids me having to reread all of the boring instructions each year.
My W2 is available online pretty much immediately. I also use TurboTax and it takes me less than 30 minutes all told. Sometimes I have to wait a few weeks for all the mortgage/student loan interest forms. But still done by the end of Jan!
I had pan fried tilapia on Tuesday. Tonight I think I’m going to make Italian meatballs (sans flour, of course).
hmmmm – maybe some fish tacos…. I guess I’ll go to the store & see what I can find.
