Late Nights Lead To Late Mornings

I can’t party like the twenty-something I once was. Hell, I can barely keep up the pace that I had in my thirties. When I returned home from The EARL around 1:30am and then watched last night’s episode of Big Brother 8 there was no way in hell that I was going to keep my normal routine.

The EARL May No Longer Have Corndog-A-Rama, But It Can Still Host A Sausage Festival
To say last night’s Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit concert was “male dominated” is a bit of an understatement. There were some women in attendance, many quite attractive even, almost all of whom were on the arm of their boyfriend all night long.

Isbell, the former guitarist for Drive By Truckers, was celebrating the release of his new CD (overlooked in my reviews yesterday). The show was sold out, the band was tight, and they put on a long show making sure that no one left the building feeling cheated.

While I had heard nothing of the new disc (remember, I didn’t even know that it dropped yesterday) and do not declare that I am a huge Drive By Truckers fan, I enjoyed the band’s efforts greatly. I was further pleased when they covered Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer” and then ended the show with Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak”.

It was good to be out at a show again. However, I still have a hard time coming to grips with all of the cigarette smoking, and the annoyance of people holding conversations at elevated volumes while songs are being played.

I’m still digging through some Peachtree pics.

A Tribute To Fallen Fire Fighters

I tried a photoshoot prior to heading out to The EARL last night and was seriously frustrated. Tonight I am going to make my first attempt at sensor cleaning. I figure that if I fuck up my camera I’ll just have to buy myself an early birthday gift.

Me-Gifting
My birthday is a week from this coming Sunday and Christmas is still in December. Is it wrong that I think that I already know what I am going to buy myself for these occasions?

For my birthday, in addition to the vacation I’ll be taking soon, I am either going to buy myself a “serious” telephoto lens or a new camera body.

Come Christmas I think that there will be a new Mac laptop in my future. I have priced a new keyboard for the iBook (anywhere between $75 and $115) and that combined with the red stripe on the screen I mighty be persuaded to upgrade.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – alright
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Peter Bjorn and John — “Amsterdam”
Website Of The Day – The good folks at Zoho are trying to provide an online alternative to Microsoft Office products. Cool.
Exercise (b)Log – none
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car

July Goals
0) Celebrate my 42nd birthday
1) Get my first Ruby / Ruby on Rails program written
2) Get my photoblog up and running

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Is it sad that when I don’t see a blog from you by 9am I worry? Okay, we did have BB exchange, so I wasn’t THAT worried, but still.

And NO, it is not sad to have your “me presents” picked out. I get myself a “me present” every birthday and holiday and significant event (like new job = iPod) whenever I’m not dating anyone and justify it as one of the bonuses (boni? haha) to being single. [oh heck, maybe even when I am dating someone too.]

At least you’re trying with the photo strolls! I have one for myself planned next week but I’m trying not to tell a soul about it until I put up the pics. 🙂 I do think you, Screams and I need to get back out again though!

wow, Big Brother must be a way too addicting show if you watched it AFTER you got home from the Earl…… since I’m not allowed to watch, I just watched the Tour De France late.
In case you were wondering, Versus (formerly OLN) plays it at least 16 hours each day. I knew you all cared, that is why I thought I’d mention it.

  3. It’s not that BB is so addicting (at least to me), it’s that I knew that I would hear all about it, so I wanted to be caught up.

I attempted to watch Pirate Master as well, but fell asleep doing so.

Luckily for me I have a tv on my desk (it is part of my job after all) so I have Vs. on each morning now.

  4. Stacy says:

Oh, he lies! BB *IS* that addicting. Why are you not allowed to watch, Barb? Come on…come on over to the Dark Side with us….

  5. Barb says:

I told you, Allan has said I can’t…….. And he really did, but it isn’t like I’d actually listen to him, I just decided to not watch it. Why start at 8, when I missed the first 7 seasons. Plus, now I can watch The Singing Bee and realize I don’t know any lyrics of songs. What a silly show…..

  6. Stacy says:

Oh, don’t tell me you watch that Bee thing, Barb! Only because I’m actually thinking of watching it too and I don’t need a bad influence! 🙂

  7. Steve says:

I would have hoped they would have found people that can actually sing… I was wrong. We just watched it for a few minutes.. I wasn’t impressed.

FP, brought back bad memories of past Tacky Light Tours? 🙂

  9. Barb says:

I watched a few minutes of the other Lyrics show last night (with Wayne Brady) – they totally make the people sing a bunch of the song. Ouch……. that girl was terrible. I think I’ll stick with the Singing Bee, they don’t sing as much. And Joey Fatone is too cute.

Thanks for featuring Zoho as the site of the day, Paulie 🙂
