We didn’t have many April showers. Will we also be deprived of May flowers?
Happy Smog Season
Welcome to smog season, Atlanta. If weather predictions are correct and it’s another dry year then we should have a bumper crop of smog this year.
Whether we travel near or far
Atlantans love to use their car
We drive at night, and during days
Creating a filthy, brown, auto-produced haze
Don’t fool yourself and call it “fog”
But rather deadly, lung-polluting smogHappy Smog Season, Atlanta!
Feel free to pilfer that if you wish, Hallmark.

I found this doing yard work.
Yes, I occasionally do yard work. No, I have not taken down those monstrosities I call “bushes” at the end of my driveway.
Movie Review: Idiocracy
Congratulations to me, I finally used my Netflix membership. Unfortunately I wasted eighty-four minutes of my life watching Idiocracy. In the end I was the idiot for sticking with it.
If you’ve not seen this movie, and I will obviously attempt to steer you from doing so, let me sum it up. Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph are deemed to be “average” Americans in the year 2005 and are chosen to become subjects for a deep-freeze project which is to last one year. Whackiness ensues and instead they are frozen for five hundred years, and when they awake they are geniuses compared to the general populous. In fact, when Wilson takes and IQ test it is deemed that he is the smartest person in the world and appointed to solve all of the countries woes by being named Secretary of the Interior. He successfully gets crops to grow by substituting water for and electrolytic drink which has taken the place of water and becomes president with Rudolph becoming his First Lady.
How does this shit get produced? I know that Mike Judge has had success (“Beavis and Butthead”, “King of the Hill”) but this movie is complete and utter crap!
Finding Yourself Craving Vista?
The Big Boy from Redmond released a long-overdue operating system earlier this year. As for me I hope never to run it any time soon, but I know that there are some of you out there who have been craving a little Vista in your life. If you live near one of the CompUSA’s which are destined to close any day now you can run to one and pick up a copy of Vista for 40-50% off the original price. Have fun. Let me know what issues are having. If you are a Mac user, let me know how it plays in Parallels or Boot Camp.
It also may be an opportunity to pick up some flash memory, although the deal isn’t nearly as good as the Vista deal.
Month #5
With the coming of the month with the fewest number of letters I have decided to scale back my goals. This month I am making as many goals as letters in the word “May.”
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight 200 lbs)
2) Exercise at least five days per week
3) Read two books, specifically
3a) “722 Miles: The Building of the Subways and How They Transformed New York”
3b) “The Evolution Of Useful Things…”
I am hoping that this month I can actually accomplish these…
CD Pick Of The Week
I have to pick between two CDs today, neither of them being from a band whose name rhymes with “Mush”. One of the bands is Old School indie rock (Dinosaur Jr.) and one is New School indie rock (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).
Seeing how I’ve had more contact with BRMC in the past few years I’ll have to pick their release of “Baby 81” as this week’s CD Pick Of The Week even though Dinosaur Jr’s release of “Beyond” is getting slightly better critical reviews. Oddly both of these releases are getting much better reviews from users compared to critics over at Metacritic.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – okay, but not great
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Built to Spill — “The Weather”
Website Of The Day – File Under: “Huh?” Nikon (my favorite camera manufacturer) has introduced a bizarre flash animation called UniverScale. If I didn’t feel like an insignificant piece of shit then I certainly do now…
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Mode Of Transportation To Work – Marta
May Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight 200 lbs)
2) Exercise at least five days per week
3) Read two books, specifically
3a) “722 Miles: The Building of the Subways and How They Transformed New York”
3b) “The Evolution Of Useful Things…”
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
If my calculations are correct, you did lose 2 lbs last month. So, that was a goal completed.
True, but weight can fluctuate on any given day so I am not completely confident that I succeeded.
If you ended the month 2 pounds down than you started, you indeed succeeded. After all, it could have been in flux that day too and you could have actually lost *3*!!
I disagree with you on Idiocracy. Although the movie did fall down in execution, the overall theme was pretty good. All the stupid people ARE breeding.
