That’s how I spent the majority of the weekend. The drink was my friend and enemy this weekend, and I think the pollen finally hit me as well.
If I Seem Quiet
My day is completely scheduled today. I am involved with college recruit interviews so I will be away from my keyboard.
ITP Flickr Pic
I took a lot of good pictures of my friend Betsy on Saturday, but she has yet to give me the permission to post any. Other than that there is nothing new to display. I have been extremely lazy and need to snap out of it.
Because I Didn’t Remind You, And No One Reminded Me
Funny how some things happen. Normally around Daylight Savings’ beginning and/or end I make a mention for people to check the batteries in their smoke detectors. I didn’t do that last week when the time sprung forward. Yesterday morning I heard the faint chirp of a battery on its last leg. After a few moments of waiting I pinpointed the chirp and replaced the battery. In all honesty I actually forgot that there was a smoke detector in the room where I found the dying battery, so the chirping was a real useful notification.
A Tale Of Two Brackets
I filled out two NCAA brackets this year. The two brackets were filled out about twelve hours apart. To prove the somewhat random nature of my selections the brackets are not identical (not intentionally).
I one contest I am in first place.
In the other contest I am tied for twenty-sixth place.
How about them apples? Sadly, I am in first for the contest that has not prize money. Not that it matters much, I seriously don’t think that I will be on top come the end of next week.
Both brackets do have the Florida Gators winning it all, so at least if that happens I’ll be pleased.
The Amazingly Late, The Amazingly Annoying Race
Was it basketball? Was it golf? I don’t know. All I know was that Amazing Race started about forty-five minutes late.
And so began the post Rob and Amber era of this Amazing Race.
How was it possible for a team to be so far behind mid-show, and then finish first?
How was it possible for a team to not read their clue, go right past the thing they needed to complete a task, and then finish second?
I was so ready to see Mirna and Chmirna get bounced from the race, but nooooo they finished first. I really, really don’t like them.
And then to top things off this was not an elimination leg.
Meh!
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – crummy because I feel like ass
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Neutral Milk Hotel — “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea”
Website Of The Day – Since I borrowed their naming convention the least I can do is show a little link love to the Product (RED) Foundation.
Exercise (b)Log – none, guess I might not be running a half marathon next weekend.
March Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs?)
2) Run no fewer than thirty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
4) Finish February’s book and read at least one more.
5) Take Marta to work at least ten times.
6) File my Income Taxes.
7) Wear “nicer” clothes to work at least one day a week.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Okay, that does it. I think I’m done Racing this year.
First, losing Rob & Amber was a big blow to continuted viewership to begin with (at least MY continued viewership). But I thought I’d give it another shot. 45 minutes late?! For real? See, when your life is ruled by the DVR (as mine is), that’s unacceptable! And this always always happends with Amazing Race. Always! It’s how I got tuned out in the past. I wish the stupid system would actually record the stupid show instead of the stupid time slot. Or whatever it’s doing. Grrrr….
How many months ’til Big Brother? Oh yeah, too many.
Congrats on the pool, by the way. I’m sucking big time.
I have yet to review the post-Guinness pix you shot–thank you for interrupting your drinking schedule for doing this! Next time, let’s shoot first, drink later.
And I’ll give you permission to post any of them right now provided you can assure me I look like Kate Winslet. Somewhat. Kate Winslet on an off day?
Sigh.
the KEY to the DVR, always season pass (with repeats) the show right after Amazing Race (or Survivor, or whatever crazy reality show you like). I’ve found this comes in quite handy, and sometimes I even watch Cold Case. But then I have to record Without A Trace, and then the news after, if I keep watching. It is a vicious circle……..
Come on – get on the Danny & Oswald bandwagon with me, the best scene ever was Danny chasing Phil to hug him when he was all dirty. How can you not love those two.
Basketball, schmasketball. How about that soccer game yesterday? Oh yeah, Arsenal lost…cider heals all wounds :)!
I LOVE Team ChaChaCha! You should read Josh Wolk’s blog on EW.com about The Amazing Race…it’s awesome. Totally love this season…Rob and Amber should be spokespeople for tourism to the PhillipINES!
Lunch Break:
Sorry that I didn’t have much time to go into the weekend details.
@Stacy:I turned on 60 Minutes for its final five minutes and saw that they were nowhere near their end. I muted the tv and surfed the internet until Amazing Race started.
@Betsy: You look great. Any imperfections in the photo were my errors.
@Barb: I laughed when Phil was being chased around. It was even funny when he made a mention that he was surprised that Danny & Oswald went for the coal over the nail painting. I like them very much but there are few others on the show that make me happy.
I can’t wait to see why Mr. Perfect and Blondie get pull off an airplane. Anyone else think that Eric is a dick because he whined about Danielle not beating the Guidos in a footrace?
@Terri: The footy action was good. The food, beer and company were better. I wish I could have done a better Pat impersonation, but that whole reading thing, even if it is the NY Times, just isn’t for me.
