Hey all, I’m back.
Last Night’s Winning Mega Ball Numbers
16-22-29-39-42, and the Mega Ball was 20
Why I Don’t Buy Lottery Tickets
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 176 million.
And The Saddest Fact
The odds of me getting laid this year are about 1 in 175 million.
Back On Track, Also Back Off Tracks
I took Marta to work four out of the last five work days (on the day I drove in I took Marta from work to the High Museum and back). Yesterday I pulled a Marta “three-way” by running an errand at Colony Square on my way home. I’d definitely say that I used my seven-day pass efficiently.
My trips were not without their issues. At least two times I saw a train travel from my view as I reached the platform and on more than one occasion the trips were plagued with mechanical problems which brought travel to a screeching halt.
Today I drove to work. I have my reasons…

I like this for its odd, painting-like quality. When (and if) I ever get a release of Photoshop (or Elements) that will run natively on an Intel Mac I will fix the shadowing problem on the train railing.
I Got People
This is a new brilliant marketing slogan from the people at H&R Block. I almost want to get my taxes done by them because if they so willingly bastardize our language then they must crunch numbers like nobody’s fucking business.
What I have is slow people; people who make me thankful that I procrastinate. Or have they trained me to procrastinate?
Yesterday I received some critical tax-related paperwork which will impact my 2006 taxes. Thankfully I have not yet filed otherwise I would now be trying to figure out how to file amended taxes.
It’s Like A Movie, But It’s Performed On Stage
While at an Oscar party a couple of Sundays ago I realized that I hadn’t seen a single movie in the theaters in 2006 (nor have I yet in 2007). However I did see plays in theaters last year, something that many other people cannot say.
Tonight I’ll be seeing my second play of ’07. I will once again be inhabiting the Horizon Theater (hopefully I will be receiving my membership documentation soon) this time to see the play “Almost Maine.”
Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
If It’s Called “Quicktime” Why Is It So Slow?
Apple released an update for iTunes and Quicktime this week. I once again hoped that this download would fix the problem I have on my Windows laptop which makes it impossible for me to watch videos via iTunes. I click “Play” and nothing happens. Nothing. No video, no error message, nothing. I’ve had this problem for a while I keep thinking that the next release of iTunes and Quicktime will contain the solution to this problem. If the CD player hadn’t died back when I ripped all of my music a year or so ago I’d wipe the hard drive and start all over again. I’ve not done this because I am not certain that I can reload Windows via a USB CD player (I seriously doubt that I can).
Thankfully the Video Lan Client has no such issues.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – slow and bloated, time to rekindle the exercise fire
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Billy Bragg — (don’t know, the artist/title information is not being updated)
Website Of The Day – Get Rich Slowly — it’s not a popular concept in this country but your odds of succeeding are much greater than winning the lottery.
Exercise (b)Log – none
March Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs?)
2) Run no fewer than thirty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
4) Finish February’s book and read at least one more.
5) Take Marta to work at least ten times.
6) File my Income Taxes.
7) Wear “nicer” clothes to work at least one day a week.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
First of all that is the second time in as many weeks you’ve used the term 3-way (something on your mind)??
I ran (yes ran) by your house last night, I was going to grab you and make you run with me. Alas, you were not home yet, you got lucky. Next time!
Yes I keep thinking “three-way” in hopes that I will have to lower my standards and complete a “two-way” first. Too much time only completing “one-ways” is about as exciting as playing tennis against a wall.
Running? I’ve heard of this activity. Perhaps you can run to my house, and stop in for a beer. Then we both will run to your house, and stop in for a beer. Then I will run back to my house. 🙂
Not only are you going to another play tonight, but dude! Don’t forget a brisket sandwich beforehand! I woke up craving the delectable brisket sandwich so, unfortunately, I’m quite certain it will be plaguing my thoughts all day.
if they so willingly bastardize our language they must crunch numbers like nobody’s fucking business.
This is got to be one of the funniest things you’ve ever written. I snorted coffee up my nose reading it. Which, incidentally, is FAR different than snorting coke up my nose reading it, which was also another viable option as it’s sitting open here on my desk as well. Coke of the diet liquid variety, of course.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm brisket….
brisket. Brisket. BRISKET!!! WooHoo! 🙂
Stacy, at first I thought you were going to correct my own bastardization (which I have since corrected). I omitted the word “then” in that sentence. Whoops.
Actually, the “then” is not even needed – in an “if-then” clause it’s assumed and completely fine to leave it out of the sentence. 🙂 It may seem grammatically sloppy, but it’s still acceptable to write it the way you originally did. So there! You are correct both ways! Woo! Brisket!
If that is what it takes, so be it, I will have a beer (or two) with you. Anything for a friend! 🙂
I bow in the general direction of the Grammar Goddess. 🙂
The phrase “MARTA three-way” reminds me to pack my hand sanitizer. Thanks.
They were having major issues with the Southbound trains when I was at Five Points yesterday. There was one out-of-service train going Eastbound, but I got home just fine.
I just missed the Candler Park train on my way home. It took nearly twenty minutes to get from Five Points to my car because of this.
I hate that, happened to me twice last week. At least you have the option of taking either train.
So which establishment serves this brisket sandwich you talk so much about??
By the way, that bike ride to the capital seemed pretty damn hilly, but that may be because I’m way out of shape. I’m kind of glad the ALS ride isn’t happening, I would die on Wolfpen. At least it was a beautiful day.
I wondered how you fared yesterday. Did Dean set up a pub crawl?
I too am glad that ALS is not happening now. I’d never be able to finish (again).
ALS was supposed to be 4/14, right? Come play at Pine Lake Hash that day instead — I’ll be your
briskethare!Barb – said piece of heaven can be found at the Euclid St. Yacht Club in Little 5. I don’t know what it is, but the brisket sandwich apparently made a lasting impression on me there. (ya think?) 🙂 Actually, a lot of people say it so it must not be just that I had a lot of beers or something. Apparently their Brunswick Stew is supposed to be amazing too. Huh! Whooda thunk?
Re:3-way’s–Tonight I learned a new term, ‘Dirty Sanchez.’ I was RIGHT in that it involves doo doo, but missed in the ‘real’ definition.
I first thought you, “blow†in the face of the ‘grammar goddess,’ but you only bow…I like men who blow,,,gutter,,,again….signing off….
aye carumba!
