So Long And Thanks For All The Fish

Fret not, I’m not going anywhere yet.

While driving home last night I heard the news that Steve Jobs had resigned his position as CEO of Apple — after the stock market had closed. The first thing I did this morning was place a sell order on a portion of my AAPL even though I lost over $20/share in the “after hours” between the stock market’s closing yesterday and its opening this morning. I don’t consider a sell now panicking, I consider it hedging my bets (investments).

You won’t believe me when I say this (because I’m really not sure that I believe it myself) but I need to start turning some of the profits earned since I purchased Apple a few years ago into repairs at the ITP Estate.

Welcome To East Atlanta, Monday Night Brewing
Last night I met up with ITP-Readers Betsy, Terri, and Pat at East Atlanta’s The Midway Pub. The occasion was the launch of Monday Night Brewing into the neighborhood. After stalking their beer for nearly three weeks I finally got to meet some of the men behind the brewing — Jonathan and Jeff. The brewers were nice enough but I didn’t get the opportunity to start my efforts to barter photography services for beer.

ITP Flickr Pic
I could have taken another photo of ITP-Reader Steve, this time wearing a sport jacket, but I’ll let him start his own blog in order to have his photo on the internet every day. 🙂

Instead here is a photo of my first Monday Night Brewing beer consumed at The Midway Pub last night.

Hoping To Hit The Farmers Market
I’m hoping to get out of work early enough to get back down to East Atlanta in time to shop the farmers market. I have no preconceived shopping list in mind, but I could certainly stand for buying some in-season vegetables, a loaf of artisan bread, and if his stand is around a King of Pops popsicle.

With any luck I’ll also get home in time to start doing some of my weekend chores on Thursday night. There are so many to tackle — kitchen cleaning, basement clean out, electronics/networking reconfiguration, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, organizing — in addition to getting my mountain bike ready for a Saturday morning biking/photographing outing.

  1. Nice ride by Georgie yesterday. Everybody says that Georgie is from “Queens, NY” that’s like saying people are from “DeKalb, GA.” Anyone know from where in Queens George hails?

I wish I had gone to Colorado to see the inaugural event. I’ll be keeping my eyes open next year to see if I can make a combined USA Pro Cycling Challenge (Tour of Colorado) / Colorado InviHash trip in 2012.

  2. Barb says:

I was happy to see George win. I didn’t watch the whole stage – just not enough hours in the days these days. I had no idea they were riding dirt roads for some of this, that was kind of cool.

And – note for in a day or two – they are going thru Heeney, CO (pop. maybe 70 where Allan’s aunt has a lake house) – and they will ride right past Master Bait & Tackle, one of Allan’s favorite tshirts. Allan’s mom is considering going & standing on the side of the road to cheer in Heeney……. she thinks she will be abouthte only one.

  3. Because of the length of the ride (five hours?) only the final climb was covered — and then some of that lost with the plane’s need to de-ice. I had no idea they’d be riding dirt roads either, that was kind of cool.

Hahaha. That’s funny about Heeney. I hope Allan’s mother is out there cheering.

About the title of your blog today: With the earthquakes and the impending hurricane, I thought you might know something about the future of the planet that the rest of us are not yet privy to…. 😉

  5. Well, the world is supposed to end in 2012.

  6. Jenka says:

Paulie, you will be so proud of me: I lost my Taco Mac virginity today! It was my assistant’s pick for lunch. I had a delicious taco salad!

In other news, I notice Martha hasn’t commented yet today. She took a spectacular fall this morning at Crossfit. Sending her some healing wishes!

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    Proud of you indeed!

    Hoping Martha wasn’t badly hurt…

  8. Steve says:

Well, lookie here. I’m finally able to comment- for some reason my blackberry is freaking out every time I pull up the blog… maybe time to archive some?

It has been a fairly stress free week, except for the MF camera bike that won the sprint and blocked our view. Yesterday was fun, except for having to pass THROUGH the peloton after picking the early sprint. The riders were not pleased, but there was nothing I could do except get the hell out of there as fast as I could- and not run over anyone! After picking the KOM on Independance Pass, there was a gap in the stream of riders and I got into it, not knowing that a lot of the favorites were right behind… I was drilling it down the other side, with wet roads, but they were still on me after a while. I drove the “bad” line to give the good line to the riders and just waved them by. Then it was a pleasure to watch them decend- from a safe distance.

Today I spent baking in the sun at the midway timing point. No cover and no enough sunscreen- I look a bit lobster-ish.

Tomorrow is from Avon to Steamboat. Barb, I’ll keep and eye out for Mary in Heeney. Might have to stop and get a T-shirt.

    Martha??? You OK?
