For the next twelve days I will give you the item for that day from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas†along with the gift I would like to receive. You will see quickly that mine may not always be material, but are just as strange…

Paulie: to repair all the things wrong with my house
Playing The Game Differently
I am doing something today that I have never done since graduating college. Today I am taking a day off from work without pay. Normally you would assume that the reason I’d do something this outrageous is because I am hungover, but I am not. I’ll admit that beer was a large influence on this decision, but was not the sole influencer.
Both the pub crawl I did on Saturday and the hours I spent drinking beer with friends yesterday consumed a lot of the weekend and turned me once again into a negligent homeowner. While I was able to fill twenty bags of leaves that had covered my front lawn prior to Saturday I still didn’t complete all of my chores.
But don’t cry for me and my lost income, it’s supposed to be 70+ degrees on a December day and I am comfortable with my decision.
Today I am the dog and not the snowman.
Yul Be Happy, Not Sorry
If you watched Survivor: Cook Islands last night you know that Yul was the winner. If you didn’t watch last night’s episode, you now know that Yul was the winner by beating out Ozzy by one vote.
I have some mixed feelings about this season. Unlike other seasons I was pleased to see two of the strongest players make it in to the final voting and I really didn’t like having three people in the jury vote (although there really weren’t three possible winners, were there?). It was abundantly clear that neither Sundra nor Becky were worthy of being in the finals when neither could start a fire after an hour, and then it took them at least another thirty minutes when they were provided with matches! I nearly peed my pants at the expressions of everyone watching them trying to build a fire however…
Unfortunately I didn’t catch the the majority of the reunion show because I thought I was all set up to record it when I left my friends’ house last night, but I was wrong. What did I miss? Did Billy get asked about his love for CandyAss? Did Adam and CandyAss get all smoochy? When does Survivor: Fiji start?
Have My Short-Lived Winning Ways Ended?
This past weekend was a tough one for me. Most of the few things that had been going well have started to turn back around, and I’ve lost some of the big conveniences that I’ve had over the past half-dozen years (I am being vague on purpose because it deals with work — sorry).
However, one thing looks like it may still be marching forward — the East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads! Going in to tonight’s Monday Night Football game I am three points behind my opponent and I have Reggie Wayne and Adam Vinateri in the game while my opponent has no one playing. If these two vital cogs in the Colts’ offensive machine can’t muster up three points then I don’t deserve to win. If my boys can eek out this win then they will play for the League Championship next week. Who woulda thunk it!?!
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – I really don’t know
Current Music – listening to the Coverville podcast
Website Of The Day – The Ten Least Successful Holiday Specials of All Time is a very funny read. [thanks Barb for the link]
Exercise (b)Log – running, 2.7 miles which felt much longer… plus I filled twenty leaf bags
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
isn’t this weather great! I’m ‘working’ from home today which has allowed me the opprotunity to enjoy the day more than I could out at the office.
You should have stuck around a little longer yesterday, I ran home to get more beer and the leftovers from the night before and the girls ran out for chicken wings.
Oh I am laughing so hard right now….
pssst – Martha I was there when you got back with the beer, and skewered pork and helped devour the chicken wings as well. 🙂
I fell asleep about 20 minutes into the reunion show. 🙁 Jeff did ask Becky/Yul about a possible romance, which I was happy to see. Other than that, I don’t know much of what happened.
Weird that this was the first season with no car reward challenge–therefore no “curse of the car winner.” I’m sure they must have discussed that.
What did Becky/Yul say?
I didn’t even think about the car challenge curse. I wish they would do away with the “we remember our fallen brethen by burning their torches” nonsense next.
They just said they were too focused on the game–they weren’t going to let anything, like romance, get in the way of that. I see that the Reunion show is available on the CBS website to view “Full Episode,” so I’ll probably watch it one of these days.
I got up and watched it this morning. 🙂 Watch it, actually. It’s very cute.
Another “love connection” type thing: Nate admitted to Jeff that he had had feelings for Poverty [sic]. Huh! And poor Billy…yes, he was questioned about Candyass, and seriously, his answer was cute. Something about, “yeah, well hasn’t everyone put their foot in their mouth at some point in their life? Unfortunately, I had to do it on national TV.” Kudos to him for that.
Ozzy got a new car; apparently there was some website vote on who you wanted them to give a car. Who knew? (other than the 2 million people who voted, I guess)
Huh, I thought I saw an inkling of interest between Nate and Parvati a few episodes back.
When I went to the website today I saw that Ozzy won a car. Two Million people? I wonder if there was a cost to vote?
Ah, I was kidding about the 2 million. I have no idea how many voted. I’m just surprised — I had no idea there was even a vote going on.
Well, then I guess the car curse lives on!
Ha! I guess it does…
