For the next twelve days I will give you the item for that day from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas†along with the gift I would like to receive. You will see quickly that mine may not always be material, but are just as strange…
Song: Two Turtle Doves.
Paulie: I wish that people would blog like it’s 2005. I used to read so many cool blogs and one-by-one they started disappearing this year. I guess that these people either ran out of things to say or went out and got a “better” life. I lived vicariously through a lot of them, I sure miss them.
I’m Definitely Not Making A List And Checking It Twice
Thanks to my new lunch buddy, Zippy McZiploc, I was starving on my way home from work last night so I conjured up a plan to make some Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya. This plan seemed perfect because it would not only provide me with dinner for the night it would also provide a few more meals for later in the week.
I had about half of the ingredients for the recipe at home, but needed to pick up some andouille sausage, chicken, a green pepper and some green onions in order to complete the meal. In addition to the food items I planned to pick up a package of Ziploc containers the same size as Zippy so that I could easily portion meals that were no larger than the largest I am allowing myself.
Not only did I forget the containers, I also forgot the chicken which as you might imagine is one of the main ingredients in “Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya.” I wound up eating a cheese and sausage quesadilla; it was very good but not quite what I was expecting to eat. Aye Carumba!
Overseen In East Lake
Also whilst in Publix I witnessed the young couple behind me buying two items
1) bottle of red wine
2) box of condoms
I wonder what they were planning to do? Didn’t they know that condoms filled with red wine instead of white would leave incredible stains all over the walls and carpets? Kids today… At least they were being responsible.
ITP Fickr Pic
Now seriously, if you were going to start a farm would you name it Bland Farms? I don’t think that I would…
[I need to correct the white balance on this. It was taken under compact fluorescent lights and while the onion has yellow overtones, the wall behind it is nowhere near that color.]
Conditioned For All To See
I have a condition, it’s not as serious as a disease which is why I refer to it as a “condition.” I’m sure this condition has a technical name, but for the purposes of this blog let’s just call it “The Difference Condition.”
I blame my affliction with The Difference Condition on those pictures you’d see in the Sunday Funnies (or “Comics” depending on from which part of the country you hail) in which you have to figure out the differences between the two pictures. As a child I did these a lot, and got rather good at them. Slowly the condition became ingrained in my psyche such that when things changed in the “real world” I would notice, and try to figure out what has changed.
The condition has struck twice in the past week, both times thanks to the folks at Turner. On Saturday I noticed that they had covered up the space on their building which used to be occupied by the sign for the now-defunct Turner South. Yesterday I noticed that the cover had been removed and that in that space now stands a sign for CourtTV.
This is minor shit I know, but believe it or not this condition has changed my life on more than one occasion; not always for the good however.
I Broke Down And Watched The Finale
In an effort to clean stuff off the DVR, and because I was doing chores around the house last night I finally got around to watching the finale of this season’s Amazing Race. Because I already knew the outcome there was very little suspense for me, but I felt I needed the closure to see how the season ended.
Who would have guessed that the male models would be able to stitch up a jacket so quickly?
I loved the line that Phil uttered about Kimberly expecting a big rock, and her response that Rob will just have to work for it now. Fantastic! I hope that when they get married their friends start a pool for guessing how long it will take before they get a divorce.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – Angry. Let’s just say that I woke up on the wrong side of the couch today.
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Yeah Yeah Yeahs — “Cheated Hearts”
Website Of The Day – I don’t care how cute you think the Energizer Bunny is, batteries are bad for our environment. To help reduce the impact you may want to check out Call 2 Recycle to see where you can recycle your old batteries. (Just keep putting them into a grocery sack — you know like the type that won’t biodegrade — until it’s full and then make one trip to the recycling center. Do it in the name of Good Karma.)
Training Target – starting over this Sunday
Exercise (b)Log – see above
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Not that I’m picky, but you realize the 12 days of Christmas are the days AFTER Christmas? It is from the 25th to the 6th of January, otherwise known as the Feast of the Epiphany (or the day the wise men show up).
And who said a Catholic education was a waste?
-FP
Who brings gifts AFTER Christmas? What, did these cheap bastards go out and scoop up all of the twelve day’s worth of stuff at 50% off?
I had 12 years of Catholic education, and I didn’t know that. Or actually, I bet I did learn it at some point, but I think I have managed to forgot most of what I learned in those religion classes.
