Seems The April Showers Are Arriving Early This Year

Another boring weekend around the ITP Estate. Poor weather and trying health conditions kept me inside for most of the weekend. I tried to do some software development, but it never got off the ground. While I did manage to get some things done, most of what I accomplished was not on my “to do” list.

Megamind Was Mega-Awesome
On Saturday night I stayed in, a Saturday night tradition since the weekend of the accident. This weekend I decided to finally get around to watching Megamind and absolutely loved it, even if it did constantly remind me of a lost love.

I will say that I was rather disappointed with the extras, or rather the lack thereof, on the Megamind DVD. There was a lousy “Meet the Cast” short and one questionable deleted scene. Perhaps they put the good stuff on the Blu-Ray release to sucker more people into buying that?

I’ve been holding off on buying a Blu-Ray disc player mostly because I got burned by purchasing the HD-DVD module for an XBOX360 (another burn in my book) and I’m not trying to purchase any physical media. However, I’ve because I liked Megamind and Up I’ve started thinking about buying them on Blu-Ray disc, which may finally change my mind.

ITP Flickr Pic Scans
One of the few “on the to do list” things I did this weekend was hook up my scanner and scan in the medals I’ve earned over the past dozen years.
Days Gone By #1
Days Gone By #2
I’m finally getting around to mailing off those medals to Metals4Mettle. These scanned images will be reminder enough for me as time goes on.

Next up on the donation list is to take some of my old prescription eyeglasses to Pearl Vision so that they can be donated to people who can use them via OneSight.

The Butler Did It
I am not a basketball fan, but I’ve been following the progress of my Florida Gators throughout this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. With the “big guns” gone in their bracket I thought a trip to the Final Four was all but certain for my Gators. Apparently they did as well because Butler came into the game, stayed close, and bested them in overtime. Congratulations to Butler and any ITP-Reading Butler fans out there.

RealiTV Update : The Amazing Race – Not For All The Tea In China
At first I was going to complain that Team Daddy, Daddy, Daddy had the upper-hand by being able to talk to the tea server in Chinese and find out the formula of the tea they were drinking, but then each team was told that the tea they drank in China contained papaya and mango. Then to my surprise Ron was able to sniff out the proper cup in no time; I guess all of his eating in the past has paid off.

If last night’s The Amazing Race had been a Top Chef then the first part of the episode would have been sponsored by Snapple. Wait a minute, it was sponsored by Snapple!

It figured that Team Goths Gone Wild would paint the elephant.

Meanwhile Lule can’t find the right tea to save his life…

And somehow Team Daddyรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs Little Miss America finished in first place? How the hell did that happen?

It seemed that last night’s episode was all about making mistakes. Team Trotter had much difficulty finding the right tea, and then Flight Time went and kicked the bucket of brown paint onto their elephant. Whoopsie.

And in the end Luke’s tastebuds let him down, and Margie and Luke were eliminated. They’re ousted too soon for my liking, but at least it was their own mistakes which did them in and not bad luck.

Until the Twitter account for The Amazing Race (@AmazingRace_CBS) tweeted that the basketball had run over by seventeen minutes I was contemplating starting a website called “AtWhatTimeDid60MinutesStart” in order to alert The Amazing Race viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones how long into The Amazing Race’s 8-9pm time slot 60 Minutes would run. Another million-dollar idea down the drain…

No The Amazing Race next week thanks to basketball and Country Music Awards.

here’s my two cents (or shall I say scents) about that tea challenge, when people started sniffing the teas, and then getting out of there, wouldn’t that make you think to try that too? The teas obviously had some smell, and since Luke is deaf, shouldn’t his sense of smell be better? (and – at least we didn’t have to see people puking) And all those indian guys hugging Luke at the end when he finally got it, that was too funny in a sad, sick sort of way.

I just have to guess & say traffic/cab driver made the difference for annoying little miss america who actually has a pretty cool dad team.

I grew tired of Luke’s whining. The amazing race challenges are hard, they are designed that way. Suck it up and just work it out.

The spring rains have just started and I already want them gone, I have a bike ride to train for.

The rain held off for Wheelhopper yesterday which made for an awesome trail. Maybe when you get healed up we can get you back on your Mountain bike Paulie. There are no cars in the woods to hit you ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Little Miss America appeared to smell the tea in China, which is why I was surprised that she did so poorly in India.

I thought the Indian dudes hugging him was odd too.

There may be no cars but there are plenty of limbs and rocks. I’ll have to be really certain that I am back to complete health prior to doing any actual mountain biking on my mountain bike.

and- I really wished you watched Celebrity Apprentice – we could have so much fun disecting that show – some of the celebs are so crazy.

  5. Martha says:

“stiff, sore, and walking”, that describes me this morning.

You don’t need to be completely healthy to get on the bike. Take it out on some easy trails like Yellow River.

The rain was good to me this weekend, it held off Saturday morning until after the 5k (I’ve done better, I’ve done worse, pretty much a middle of the road finish) and it stopped by the time we got out to Sweetwater for the long run. Anybody know about the hiking/mountain bike trails, south of the park?

Once Purdue is out of the tournament I become a Butler fan. Butler was my second choice (behind Purdue) for undergrad, I just didn’t want to write the stupid essay. It would be easier to just start with Butler.

  6. I want to be certain that if I need my right leg and hip to stop a fall that I am not going to damage myself further. Right now I am not near that point, as I find out each time I misstep and wince.

Where is Butler? I know that I could easily look it up, but I’m lazy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Martha says:

It’s on the near-north side of Indy (about 5 miles from downtown and about 60 miles from where I went to high school).

Yeah, my physical therapist wasn’t thrilled to hear I was mt. biking while still in PT, I had to promise her I wouldn’t let both wheels leave the ground ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. Steve says:

If Kansas could have bought some free throws yesterday, they could have given Virgin. Common. a run for her money…

A bit of exercise for me Sunday when I wasn’t trying to cough up a lung.. I thought it was allergies, but I think it’s been just a chest cold. I remember being a kid and trying to hang off the bed with my head on the floor to get the crap to drain out of my lungs… the bed is too far off the floor now.

I’m still rooting for the Team Noun or the Trotters.

Barb – I watch it, I watch it!! But I usually watch it OnDemand (since I’m recording other shows at the time…including the ones *behind* Amazing Race because of the abnormal start schedule)! So we totally need to dis on them.

I’m all for Team Noun. There’s just something about them that’s so likeable. Little Miss America don’t bother me much: at least she can laugh at herself. I love that scene where everyone was: “run run! get it! quick! sign in – it’s over there!” and she realizes way late she was the butt of the joke. And she totally took it in stride. Kudos for her for that; anyone else would have become a bitch on wheels.

  10. Barb says:

Stacy – email me once you watched this week’s episode, it was pretty good. NExt week should be even better from the previews.

And yes, Little Miss America could be a lot more annoying, and I do have to give her props for having a sense of humor. I just like her dad (compared to the Chinese dad) so I have to root for them to stay in.

  11. Stacy Fox says:

Yeah, Team Chinese can go as far as I’m concerned. There’s really nothing likeable about them. And will do on the CA show, Barb! I’m all caught up except for last night. I still think it’s absolutely hysterical that Gary Busey can lead a team and still win.

  12. I’m not a big fan of Team Daddy, Daddy, Daddy (Team Chinese) or Team Goth Gone Wild. I wasn’t a fan of Team Sista Sista during their first appearance, but this time around they’ve done nothing for me to dislike.

I’m finding it neat that CBS occasionally flashes back to the past seasons like they did last night when Team Trotters reflected on getting booted in Russia when taking the penalty during the telephone Detour. My memory is not so good these days. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. debbie says:

If Luke hadn’t stopped to cry so often, he may have been done sooner. I thought the hugs from all the guys at the end was heart warming – what a kind gesture.

I’m all for Team Noun to win. Team Goth and Team Daddy, Daddy need to go and quick.

  14. Vic says:

Hey! I’ve got that 2005 CMM 1/2 Medal too!
