It wasn’t that I missed meat, it’s that the food which sounded best at lunch and dinner contained meat. At lunch I ate a Korean hot pot at the food court inside the Super-H Mart on Peachtree Industrial. The meal was amazing except for the fact that I got a couple of red spot stains on my beige shirt. I wish food stains were the new black this season. At dinner the Roswell Photographic Society crew tried a new restaurant in Roswell called Lucky’s Burgers and Brew where I ate a delicious (fried) chicken sandwich.
It Might Be Time For A Change
I’ve been going to Roswell Photographic Society meetings for a few years now, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it may not be for me. I have a great group of friends who attend, which may be the reason I continue to show, but there are never any young single women in attendance, and I’m finding myself conflicted with the “critiques” which are rarely more than photography reviews due to the number of photos submitted.
Last night’s reviewer picked a couple of clichรยฉ shots — under a pier at sunrise, down a spiraling staircase, — which, while the were fine photos, introduced nothing new and I’m frustrated that this subject matter continues to get accolades. Let it be known that I never submitted a photo last night so I had no dog in the hunt, so I’m not bitter that these photos bested mine.

Um yeah, about my photography… Ugh.
It’s Now A SkypePad
Last night I called my mother using Skype running on my iPad. Using the Apple iPad Connection Kit (so that I had an available USB port) and my headset I was able to call my mother and conduct a twenty-minute conversation using my WiFi connection.
There is a certain nugget of humor in the fact that I finally figured out how to use Skype for my long distance calls after I had AT&T U-Verse installed which provides me unlimited long-distance calling within the US and to Canada.
Breaking Up Won’t Be Hard To Do
Tonight I will probably wind my way into Decatur to meet up at The Marlay with a group of folks who plan to chat over beers as we all throw some chlorine into our Social Networking pools. What does that mean? Well, we’ve all come to realize that we have many extraneous Twitter / Facebook / LinkedIn “relationships” and that it may be time to return some sanity to our live by eliminating some of them. What better way to do that than over beer? (Seriously, there is little in my life that isn’t improved by the addition of beer.)

Happy Birthday Sal!!! You are an amazing athlete and person, I’m very honored to know you.
Paulie…are you going to ‘throw’ some chlorine…otherwise, I don’t get it?
If food stains become the new black, you and Jerry will be cutting edge!
“Through” should be “throw” (and will be in a minute). Thanks. ๐
Happy Birthday Sally!!! Hope you have a great day.
Paulie – I think you should give up Twitter, I’ve never quite gotten it and found it the most annoying of the social networks I participate in because of the sheer volume of usual crap people Tweet. That’s my .02 which you got for nuthin’. ๐
I have all-but given up Twitter. I’ve tweeted only three times in the past two weeks and I’ve not been reading people’s updates.
I am considering keeping Twitter for business updates / correspondences but that’s it.
I think the name says it all.. Twit.
Glad to be back at work getting some rest.

Happy Birthday Sal (though I’m not sure if she is reading this blog this week – she is up in WV hanging with Marty)
We were right down the street from where you were having dinner last night. We were at El Zorrito (or so I thought, now it is El Zapata). Met up with some friends I haven’t seen since their wedding in 1997 (they moved to Vegas) – thanks to FB we are in contact again. It is wild trying to catch up after so many years.
I never got on the Twitter bandwagon, I just don’t want to take the time.
Groupon zipline offer today up at the Ocoee…… it’s off to the side on the email – good for a year – I see some camping & mountain biking in our future.
West Virginia? How selfish! ๐
Barb, have you ever eaten at The Counter in Roswell?
Zipline Groupon purchased. Come watch me pee my shorts as I zipline some time next year.
I’ll go ziplining with you Paulie. I would prefer to be in front of you if you are going to pee your pants.
No, never even heard of The Counter until yesterday – I saw that Groupon it, but was debating on buying it but decided not to so far. Looks like an excellent over priced burger joint.
I’m thinking a spring time camping/biking/zipline outing……..
I grabbed two zip-line deals as well, not sure about the camping…well you know.
Today’s ScoutMob is for Cafe Circa in Old Fourth Ward…is it bad that I was immediately turn off the place when I went to the web site and was assaulted by music…I really hate that. The menu looks interesting.
Parks Edge was pretty good. I had the snapper, it was a little salty, I don’t think they took into account the olives when the seasoned the fish. The veggies were a little over cooked, Jerry’s lamb was nice. Good service, nice setting…but not too nice that I felt uncomfortable.
Debbie, did you buy 2?
I haven’t bought any yet, but I will get 2.
I see a camping trip in our future.. Farley has to have his own tent.
I never have done Twitter. I deactivated FB a couple of weeks ago. I’ve only had the shakes a little.
I bought a zipline Groupon awhile back and we’re going next month. I hope they have a heavy-duty line because I’m fat enough to break something…
I’ve considered deleting my Facebook account on many occasions. The reason I’ve not is because it is the only link I have with many of my oldest friends and some family members. However, I have stripped my personal information to the bone.
hey Vic – the weight limit is 250 (or 275) depending on where you go, but I’m pretty sure that those cables can hold a whole lot more weight than that.
Martha – they have cabins up that way too for weenie boy.
250? Holy crap, I’ll need to start dieting so I can ride the zipline…
if it can hold Allan, I think you will be just fine Paulie.
Re: Skyping using your iPad, do I understand it right that you didn’t use a webcam, just spoke through your headset? I ask because I really want to get an iPad for Skyping (with video) with my in-laws in the UK, but I don’t think iPads come with either webcams installed or USB ports for external cams. Am I right?
No cameras exist in the current iteration of the iPad. My call was audio only. The camera connection kit only provides a single USB port so I don’t know if it’s possible to hack in a webcam.
Aha! So I would just need the camera connection kit plus a webcam that also had audio. Or just wait until they come out with an iPad with webcam pre-installed. Heh.
Yeah, you should probably wait. Given Apple’s pushing of their FaceTime video chatting application I wouldn’t be surprised if the next iPad had a front-facing camera to be used for video conferencing.
Thanks Barb!
Thanks for mentioning me in your blog today and for all the birthday wishes!!
