Not Quite What I Had Hoped
At lunch yesterday I meandered over to Target to pick up some more clothes for working out. While there I also picked up a copy of the new Thom Yorke album “The Eraser.” Let’s just say that it’s a little too electronica for my tastes and the only thing it erased was $10 out of my wallet. I guess I should have spent the $13 to buy my pick of the week instead…
This Is Your Brain On Hashing
Want to see what happens when you become a hasher?
You walk out of your office building and you see blobs of flour which go unnoticed by others in the Universe. Not only that, you also get a sudden urge to follow the flour “just to see where the trail went.”
Furthermore, if you live in Atlanta you log on to the Atlanta Hash website to see which one of the many hashes used the territory near your office without you even knowing until you walked out the door on your way to get lunch.
On-on!
Not Quite What I Had Hoped< Part 2
A group of my friends met up as scheduled last night at The Highlander. The premise was to have a nerd session about blogging, laptops were brought and relatively quickly put away due to bandwidth and lack of electrical outlet issues, causing the event to become a social. Don’t get me wrong, I love sitting around and drinking, but I was hoping to get more out of this gathering than I did. Oh well, it was a nice try.
I guess it’s back to my old school methods for learning, reading books and stealing from the Internets. No worries, I’ve got sometime because I don’t have much going on.
The Corned Beef Never Disappoints!
I thought I had missed it because Corned Beef Sunday is usually the first Sunday of the month. However, last night I received an email alerting me that this Sunday will be a Corned Beef Sunday at Twain’s in Decatur. You know I’ll be there, won’t you join me? Be forewarned the that email also stated that there will be no Corned Beef Sunday in August (I guess that they will be vacationing in the Catskills that month), so your next shot at the meat will be in September.
Baby (Elephant) Steps
From my office I’ve mapped out a nice, somewhat hilly, somewhat scary because of traffic, four-mile loop for running. Yesterday I laced up the sneakers at about 4:30pm and struggled mightily. I don’t know if it was heat, humidity, smog, lack of running, being sick the day before, carrying too much weight, or some combination there of, but I felt awful.
I seem to have difficulties taking deep breaths, it’s like I always have a loogie lodged within my throat. I am seriously considering seeing a Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist to see if my concerns are warranted. Anyone in the Atlanta blogosphere have a recommendation for a doctor? I’d appreciated it.
I’ll be giving it all another shot tonight at George’s. Yes, two consecutive days of exercise!!! Remember that even the longest journey begins with one step…
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – steaming
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing !!! — “Hello? Is This Thing On?” (sort of the ITP.com theme song)
Website Of The Day – When the rail fails we will turn them into trails. Want to know where this is occurring? Look at Rails To Trails to find out.
If you ever want a quick glance of the sites I’ve picked for my Websites Of The Day, you can check them out on del.icio.us, my user name is InsideThePerimeter (go figure), and they are all tagged as “blogged.”
Exercise (b)Log – walking/running, approximately 4 miles
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
So, did you figure out which hash it was? A non hasher friend of mine that lives in Dunwoody came across the BN while out walking, she was asking what it meant. she knew it was a hasher mark………
It was Sunday’s SOB. I followed trail toward Target and gave up when I got there.
If you want to hear Tom Yorke explain why his CD is so electronica, you can catch him on Fresh Air today on NPR – yes, I am now at the age where NPR is what I listen to on the radio – well, that and the fact that Raleigh radio stations leave a lot to be desired…
YIW and I were doing some retail therapy at Perimeter and saw flour by the deck. Started to follow, but quickly lost interest. Had we only know the start was the Firestone, we would have certainly tried harder.
4:30 afternoon runs near the center of traffic hell? Pass. Certainly there is a neighborhood up there… maybe ITP that might have a couple miles of traffic/crud free roads. Maybe near Tricks M&Ds?

Re: Feeling awful/running – It was probably a combination of all those things. Are you drinking lots of water during the day? At least you got out there – that’s 80% of it.
I had some breathing problems last summer, seemed like sinus issues for me. I don’t know what the difference is this year, but it hasn’t been bothering me yet. I’ll see if I can find the name of the ENT I went to last year – he was over near Northside Hospital.
I know that the chosen area is awful, but it keepsme from sitting in said traffic, and I have a shower at the end of my run.
Susan, if you can find the name that would be great. Thanks! I drink water through the day but most likely not nearly enough.
I’ll have to look for that Fresh Air episode online now. Sorry for the delay in response Randy, for some reason your comment was captured by my new spam filter. I’ve told it that you’re cool, so maybe it’ll let you through next time. 🙂
