If you had told me two weeks ago that the seemingly forgettable “bite” on my toe would be causing me pain and suffering almost two weeks later I would have scoffed at the idea. But it is. And because of my toe I will be missing out on the funner parts of the Lake Hartwell experience — hashing, bike riding, and consumption of mass quantities of beer — because none of these will help me heal. In fact, were it not for the $50 worth of food I have packed into coolers so that I can help cook for the masses tomorrow night I’d probably have bagged the idea of going up to Hartwell this year. This sucks.

Another from the recent archives. What is it? Lettering on a window, though I have no recollection about what word this was a part of.
RealiTV Update: Hell’s Kitchen Is Back Already?
I doubt that Gordon Ramsay is spending much time in kitchens cooking these days, he’s too busy making television shows. I was informed that another season of Hell’s Kitchen started on Wednesday night. Given that the last (and rather forgettable) Hell’s Kitchen wrapped in late July and that Fox followed that up with an even more forgettable Ramsay vehicle called Master Chef which wrapped in early September, I was rather surprised to see a new Hell’s Kitchen pop up so soon.
Another season, another round of annoying cooks. This season may also include the most clueless cook, a 50 year-old man named Raj, as well as the most stunningly beautiful cook, a 22 year-old woman name Sabrina — who inexplicably wears nerd glasses and a pink calculator watch, and has already worn out every last nerve in my body. But I’m hooked again.
In case you didn’t know, Fox has the show available online (with commercial interruptions of course) if you are thinking of catching up.

I don’t know what that is a picture of but it reminds me of the graphics on an ’80s teen mag.
For me the best part of Hartwell is hanging out on the lake…just floating and relaxing. I’m going to miss it this year, I’d come up for the day but I know me…I’d start relaxing, then drinking and be there too long.
So I guess I’ll go for a long run tomorrow, maybe check out the Grant Park Tour of Homes (I’ve never been, I’d love to see some of the chicken coops), and Sunday some of us are heading to Kennesaw Mt for a little run. After seeing the pictures from the weekend, I was reminded that I need to get in shape.
Maybe if it’s raining, I can get more pictures scanned too.
I was thinking about Hartwell for the day as well, but I’m like Martha – probably would start drinking, etc. And – it is a friend’s birthday, so I sort of was told I have to do something with her (she knows Allan is working).
Just got a bunch of drywall & plywood delivered (nice to live 5 minutes from teh house)- now we have to get the plywood up in the attic (to make a floor) & then insulate & drywall that upper part & drywall the lower part. I think I have convinced Allan that this might be a good thing to hire out. We’d really like it done sooner than later, and it will be later if we (okay he, I’m some help but not much) tries to do it himself.
There shall be no talk of rain… 3 Gap will be difficult enough for us non-climbers without adding that aspect.
And since it will happen on a day when this oracle is not produced, a very happy birthday Sunday to Debbie!!

Since the forklift that delivered the drywall was able to fit into the garage mahal & put it under cover, it will not rain. If he had to leave the drywall outside, yes, it would have rained soon.
So – my forecast is – it will not rain.
Steve – you will do fine on 3 Gap – wish I could be there, but I have not ridden anywhere near enough this year to attempt it. Plus, I see more work in the garage happening (now that we have this delivery)
and – shameless plug for Who Flung Doo’s new bbq joint – any one not going to Hartwell should come to H5 tonight Billy Jack’s BBQ & Shrimp – it’s on Collier near Howell Mill. He still doesn’t have a liquor license, so it is BYOB. The ribs were fantastic last time we were there.
and – trivia is going to start there next Tuesday at 7:30.
Martha – want to revive some of the old team?
I would be happy if it would just rain on my yard. I finally went out yesterday and watered a few, desperate plants (I mean really, how much could it add to my $8000 water bill). For the most part I have just given up for the year, I’m hoping for a damp fall, I need to get some grass growing in the back.
I might be able to make trivia from time to time…7:30 is late for me these days. I bet if I brought rib home with me, Jerry wouldn’t mind either. I’m playing the part of a single lady tonight, maybe I’ll swing by and say hello.
Happy Early BDay Debbie, I’m sure I’ll catch up with you on FB.
Yikes, first break of my day and I only have about 25 minutes before I have to sit in on another interview.
I want to thank you all for commenting and not needing my assistance to keep things fresh. 🙂
oh yeah – happy early birthday Debbie!
Martha – I think (can’t remember for sure) they might have wings on the menu too – so Jerry will be extra happy.
If I can convince Allan not to play electrician all evening, we will both be at H5, I’m hoping the stuff that needs to be done tonight is something quick. (he’s got all day Sunday to get it done…..)
Quick reprieve from interview…
Debbie will get proper a birthday shout-out on Monday, as will the person whose birthday is actually on Monday (or so I believe). Tune in then, won’t you?
