I Let It Fall Apart

While I don’t believe in “jinxing” I think that I jinxed my secret plan. The secret plan was to drive to Montgomery, AL on Saturday afternoon, finally take in a Montgomery Biscuits ballgame, stay overnight at a hotel, and return on Sunday to run the Black Sheep Hash.

When I woke up Saturday morning I was tired and sore (and hadn’t worked out), made it out to take some rather unspectacular photos at the Race For The Cure, and then returned home where I decided that I just wasn’t up for another excursion and didn’t feel like dropping $150 in the process. At this time I doubt that I’ll ever make it to Montgomery for a Biscuits’ baseball game. 🙁

A Night At The Gallery
Friday night’s gallery exhibit was a success, even though I did not sell a single piece. Pity, as I did see people looking at my work in my bin. Perhaps I’ve priced my work too high, I’ll reconsider my pricing if nothing sells again this Friday night when the gallery is part of the Castleberry Hill Art Stroll.

All Decked Out
The deck is stained, and looks really nice.
Stained And Ready
All that’s left to do is return the bench to its proper corner, though having it in its current place is starting to grow on me. The bench is heavy as a sonnabitch, which is why I’ve not moved it back already. I figured that I’d destroy the stain job if I dragged the bench back to its original place.

If you need any work done at your place, you may want to get a quote from Seth Grad Home Improvement, LLC. (btw, I get nothing from endorsing his work, I was just pleased enough with the job that I want to do so.)

On Saturday morning I made it out to the Susan G Komen “Race For The Cure 5k.” I thought that this was going to be a great people-shooting outing for me, but alas my inability to feel comfortable shooting strangers made the outing rather fruitless.
And They're Off!
And WTF was with all of the dudes running the race? I understand that guys have friends and relatives who’ve suffered from breast cancer, but I really thought that this was a female-only race.

RealiTV Update: The Amazing Rage — First Class FTW
If you haven’t figured out that there are SPOILERS ENCLOSED, you haven’t been paying attention.

My title today refers to the seat position in a plane over the moral character of those who finished first.

For the longest time last night I thought we were being teased into believing that Team Thing One, Thing Gay One were going to land on the Pit Stop mat only to have their hearts broken when Phil levied a time penalty on them for flying first class. With Team Brokeback so close, this obviously would have given them the win. I was aghast when this didn’t happen.

It wasn’t until this morning that I scoured the internets for the reason that Team Thing One, Thing Gay One weren’t punished:

Teams are required to purchase economy class airfare when they fly, using the credit card provided by the show. Teams may ask the airlines to upgrade their tickets to first or business class as long as they only pay economy fare. Teams may be forbidden from flying on certain airlines or restricted to specific airlines in some cases.

Team Thing One, Thing Gay One were certainly within the rules to move up to first class, however I thought the whole “I put my backpack in front of you, therefore I’m ahead of you in line.” was a classless act; this shady move was the reason I was disappointed that they won.

I was not disappointed to see Team Model Citizens fall way behind and not be a factor in the outcome. The exchange between Brandy of Team LezBeFriends and Caite made me realy uncomfortable; I could feel the vile bitterness spewing from Brandy’s mouth right through my television! Imagine if Team Model Citizens had won it all…

It’s a pity that such a decent season had such childish behavior.

Trying To Take A Shine To Chrome
Today’s blog post is not being written via my iPad, instead it’s being on my MacBook using Google’s Chrome browser. I’ve been a big fan of Firefox since its initial release years ago. However, over the past few releases I’ve been less and less enamored, and like any technology magpie I’ve been distracted by the shiny new Chrome (sorry, that pun could not be avoided).

Also, I’m making inroads into shifting my password management from 1Password to LastPass. While I love the functionality of 1Password, I’m a little perturbed that I have to pay $15 for their iPhone/iPad application when I’ve already paid $40 for the Mac application. I’m a developer, so I know that making apps for the other platforms is not free, however it still bugs me. Instead I’ve chosen to pay $12/year to LastPass and use their functionality on the iPhone/iPad for free. Another reason for my switching is that 1Password doesn’t have an extension for Chrome because the browser is still in beta.

I think you now have to throw a party to christen the deck. Seems like the only reason to have the deck cleaned, as far as I’m concerned.

    Deck does look good.

I really wish that the Cowboys would have done something in the airport, but like they said, you gotta be careful in airports with all the security. I don’t think it would have mattered in the end, they still would have managed to get moved to first class either way. I think only 1 team could do that climb up the building at a time, so to me, that wasn’t all that fair for the final leg.

and – let me know if David says anything to you about seeing us at the lake, it started off a little weird, he had parked in the spot for our campsite, and I asked him/told him to move his car. I thought he looked familiar, but it was he that asked me if I knew you a few hours later.

  3. Steve says:

I thought I noticed multiple sets of rigging on Coit Tower… that would have been a fun one… I have no fear of heights.

  4. There may be a party in the future Steve. I’ve done crazier things.

The space is line did not affect the outcome as much as getting up into first class. I just thought that it was a shitty move. I think you are right about the climbing, otherwise Jet/Cord would have started before the other team finished. I too think that it stinks for the final round. Oddly even with my fear of heights I think I could have done that challenge — it has to do with starting at a sensible level and once I’m up there I’m comfortable with the harness keeping me safe.

I also knew that once there was a memory component that Team Thing One, Thing Gay One would be all over that challenge since Thing Gay One was such a student of the show.

Barb, that’s too funny. Should I bust his chops, or do you want me to be silent and let him say something to me?

  5. Barb says:

as for David – since I don’t think I’ll be seeing him any time soon….. say what you want. I just thought it was really weird/rude to park at a site with a tent on it – there seemed to be plenty of other places to park. Another sailing club member/camper told me that “all those Georgia Tech people are idiots” about the parking thing. That totally made me laugh.

  6. bob says:

I did not want team “you got it bro” to win either. I got a chuckle out of team Clouseau (sp) who was wearing a “what goes around comes around Karma” t-shirt.

Also, you think guys running the race for the cure was bad? When Laura ran the Princess half marathon at Disney, there were at least 100 dudes running. This race even marketed itself as a women only race. The crowd yelling “Go Princess” at them was pretty funny though.

  7. Andrew says:

1password does have an extension for Chrome but it’s only in alpha/beta (and it’s not very good). The cost of the iphone/ipad app is annoying and the app…. (a) it requires me to enter my password every time I open it (b) it doesn’t work as well as I would like as it doesn’t really integrate with safari on the iphonepad. I understand their concerns about leaving my passwords unprotected if I don’t lock the app, but they’re MY passwords. Let me manage my life as I see fit. That, and it would be easier to simply trace a pattern on the screen then enter a password on a keyboard.

How’s lastpass? can it fill forms?

  8. So far I’m not overly-thrilled with LastPass. It’s interface is not nearly as polished as 1Password’s and I’m trying to learn how to use it effectively. If I decide to “endorse” it, I’ll let you know.

  9. Andrew says:

fyi, the chrome extension: http://aws.cachefly.net/aws/chrome/O…rome-0.6.2.crx enter in the url box.
