I have huge plans for this weekend, not meet nor propose to the woman of my dreams huge, but huge in my current life’s state way. I hesitate, and probably won’t disclose them all here today as to not jinx myself…
I can say that I’m starting the weekend off by taking the day off from work. W00t! For the third, and final, day Seth is coming over to work on my deck. Today’s work is the second, and final, coat of stain. I must say that it looks great and that I am happy with the job. If the stain lasts as long as it should, and I can figure out a way to rid myself of the carpenter bees who continually drill 3/8″ holes into the wood leaving little piles of sawdust in their wake, I’ll be completely pleased.
Farm Burger — Sloppy, But Delicious
I met up with some friends last night at Farm Burger at 8:30pm for dinner. I normally don’t wait that late to eat, but knowing that Farm Burger is new and popular we knew the place would be packed at an earlier time. We were right. In fact, the place was rather crowded at 8:30pm and it took us about ten or so minutes to make it through the line to order at the counter.
(as a side note, last night’s random hasher sighting was “Dead Root”)
Farm Burger is a “build your own burger” place; you start with a basic ($6) grass-fed beef burger and then add toppings, some of which are free, and some of which are available at a nominal charge, to make the burger your own. Sides of fries and onion rings are available for purchase as well. For the vegetarians out there Farm Burger sells a veggie burger. Oh, they also serve alcohol. 😉
Unlike many burger joints Farm Burger “gets” how to cook meat. At the counter the guy taking my order warned me that all burgers are cooked “medium” unless you specify to have them cook it to “well done.” I was a bit skeptical as I’ve been to many places which have asked my how I want my burger cooked, and regardless of my request have received a well-done burger. Not at Farm Burger! I ordered, and happily (and sloppily) consumed, a burger that was cooked to medium.
If you go, be prepared to wait in line to order, to hope that by the time you are through the line a table in the somewhat small establishment is available, and be ready to take in the plethora of pretty people who are eating at Decatur’s newest restaurant.

It’s An Art Stroll After All
Tonight I have a photo hanging in the in the Granite Room in Castleberry Hill as part of the Atlanta Photography Exhibit’s “Southern Fried Photographers” exhibit.

Tomorrow Morning Is All About The Breasts
Tomorrow morning I’ll be hanging around Atlantic Station taking photos of the women running the annual “Race For The Cure” women’s 5k. I’ll be using the opportunity to attempt to get a “People” photograph which I can submit for this month’s Roswell Photographic Society critique.

On Sunday I’ll be attending the Black Sheep Hash‘s ninth annual “Stinko de Mayo” hash.
According to the weather nerds this heat is supposed to break tonight and the weekend’s weather is going to be beautiful. I’m looking forward to what should be a challenging, yet enjoyable hash in some place known as “Austell.”
Making More Investments In Myself
With my day off from work I think I’m going to sign up for one month’s worth of online training from Lynda.com. For my $25 I’m going to try and take in as many iPhone and Photoshop tutorials as I can over the next month. Hell, if I think that I am getting value for my subscription I may even keep paying into the future.
Has anyone out there used Lynda.com before?

Yeah for the boobies!!
I will start the weekend off by getting my body fat measured Saturday morning and if I’m not suicidal after that the rest of the this weekend is going to be all about yard work.
I can’t see Nibbles when she goes into the back yard at this point. I did manage to (FINALLY) get my new raised garden bed assembled last night and a few veggies in the ground. I still need more dirt and a few more things to plant. Then I need to mulch all the flower beds, a trip to Lowe’s for an Escape full of wood chips will have to come first.
I ate my first home grown strawberry this morning as well, I love walking out my door and finding food 😉 Now if I could just convince Jerry that backyard chickens and a goat are a good idea.
I’m so glad this week is coming to a close. Work has been just CRAZY, I was even working on my days off…I see a real day off for next week.
Martha, if you get chickens I want dibs on the extra eggs. 🙂

I know where your art exhibit is, it is not to far from Fire Station #1 (where we park for Falcons/Thrasher games). That area has really changed, but I don’t see where everyone parks???
We will be up at Lake Lanier this weekend for a 40th Pirate themed birthday party. Gotta love the Parrotheads that like to have costume parties. And – we will be camping over night at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club, so we can maybe drink a bunch of the rum that will be provided. I will even manage to get some exercise too, since we are so close to the Chicopee mountain bike trails in Gainesville, we will go get some riding in.
Overpriced, but I’d rather eat it over any fast-food burger (with the exception of Five Guys).
Since you know the fire station in Castleberry Hill have you and Allan ever gone into the Elliott Street Pub? It’s quite good, and they make tasty sandwiches.
Funny story about Elliott Street Pub. I had a really hard time locating it the first time I went there, but knew that it was next to a fire station. As I was driving around wondering why my map-book kept lying to me, I saw a fire truck and followed it “home” in order to get to Elliott Street.
They’re yours (if I ever get chickens)! I keep telling him, if I had a goat it would really cut down on the amount of time I spend mowing the yard. Plus just think how much fun it would be to see Nibbles interact with both.
Actually, now that the berries are starting to ripen I need to get some sort of net or wire to keep away the birds and such. I planted more strawberries, so maybe I’ll have some to share next year.
I also need to get some stuff for my compost pile, are you aware there is a fine line between rotting heap of food scraps and composting? Guess which one I have.
Last year I really neglected the yard and I’m paying for it this year.
I’m with you on rather eating it over fast food, I love a good burger, it just bothers me to pay $10, but I will.
But – why would you want roasted bone marrow on a burger? I can’t figure out that ingredient.
We have walked past the Elliot Street Pub, but haven’t gone in. Usually in a hurry to get to CNN for a big beer, or just to get to the football game. Allan’s old firehouse #7 was just south of Castleberry Hill in West End, so they went to plenty of calls up that way when station #1 was busy or they needed more than one engine. He knows the neighborhood pretty well.
Oh yeah, I forgot how close Allan’s old firehouse was to that one.
I have no idea why I’d want bone marrow on a burger, but I think that it’s neat that you can get it. Actually, the beef they use along with not cooking the burger to death made me start to wonder if I’d add many toppings next time.
While I too like a good burger, $10 does seem just a tad high. The attraction is certainly the grass fed beef. We grilled grass fed steaks last summer and they were outstanding.
The couple of times I’ve eaten at 5 Guys, I haven’t been that impressed. Georges does a much better burger.

Steve, you may be the first non-vegetarian I’ve met who doesn’t like Five Guys’ burgers. I agree that George’s makes a tasty burger. Some day I might even return on a Wednesday night to have one.
I think I may have to go get a burger for lunch today, with all this burger talk.

Would you all stop talking about food. I always bring my lunch to work but we were all suppose to go out for a farewell lunch for our guest who is leaving today…it’s beenbeen canceled and I have nothing to eat 🙁

Barb and Steve, yes exactly the point I was trying to make to these (this) crazy person. I’m a bit suspicious on the report that Homeland Security actually responded, I mean these guys should know better, right?
His latest response:
“Frequency” or “how harmless” it may seem is no excuse. When your actions trouble people enough to take animals to vets and call Homeland Security, which in turn calls the FBI out, I think your actions are dumb and inconsiderate.
Rather than freaking out next time Mrs. Kravitz, how about actually getting involved and ask them what they’re doing. And you can save yourself the time and energy of calling out the National Guard.
