Snow Today? Not Likely.

Perhaps the only thing that irks me more than the collective-shudder that occurs in Atlanta when snow is predicted is the amount of tweets I see that say “SNOW!” or “OMG It’s SNOWING in [insert nearby city name here]” as if the frozen water has never graced our environs. Lighten up people, it’s not that dramatic, not to mention that we’ve already had two snow events here this year so snow is not even that novel.

Another Night, Well Evening, In Roswell
I met up with the usual gang of Roswell Photographic Society attendees at the Moe’s on Roswell Road at Abernathy (aka “Believe it or not, where I lived for nearly two years when I first moved to Atlanta”) before taking the three mile trek up Roswell Road for the RPS meeting.

Last night was a “Speaker Night” where a local photographer comes in to talk about photography. The speaker last night was a Roswell portrait photographer; she was also a Canon shooter (I’m starting to get a bit of a complex as a Nikon shooter in this town). While the speaker was entertaining and informative, her speech went on forever. By the time she finished and turned the presentation over to her husband it was 8:50pm and we are supposed to vacate the space at 9:00pm. At promptly 9:00pm I decided that I had enough and knowing I had at least a 35-minute drive ahead of me I quietly exited the building and drove home.

Call Me Crazy, I Have Signed Up For Black Rock Again
For a while the Black Sheep Hash Black Rock Camp Out was a constant in my life. Last year’s decision to “change things up” combined with the heinous weather that occurred the weekend the Black Sheep Hash’s Black Rock Tugaloo Camp Out led me to skip the event.

Well, I’m headed back.

The camp out is March 12th-14th in the northeastern corner up in the southern part of the Appalachian mountains. The weather could be cold and miserable! What the hell am I thinking!!!

Come on and play with me! For your $50 you’ll get some food, a lot of beer, and ridiculous stories that you can tell for a lifetime.

Mode Of Transportation To Work – my car
Exercise (b)Log – Stair Climbing, 12 floors

Watched Amazing Race last night, sorry, they are just Team Cowboy Hat to me. I actually like them, & not sure why, but Team Father/Daughter (I don’t even know their names, because they’ve gotten zero air time)

Sorry -no Black Rock for us, we will be in Northern CA that weekend barrel tasting wine.

It is snowing pretty good her in Marietta right now, it may even stick on the asphalt pretty soon.

  2. I like the cowboys and the father/daughter team (whose names I don’t know either) as well.

It appears to be snowing around Perimeter Mall as well. It may accumulate some, but not nearly enough will fall to cause the near pandemonium that accompanies snow in Atlanta. I’m more worried about ice storms because they do real damage.

I’m was pretty sure I was going to do Black Rock, this trip to Indiana tomorrow puts a wrinlke in the plan. Now I’m going to spend this weekend catching up on things I didn’t do this week…you know what I’m talking about.

It was snowing pretty hard (but not sticking) on the drive into work. It was enough of a distraction for some folks to cause a 4 car pile up that pretty much shut down 85 north.

Your “Deal of the Day” has boots for $29.90 each? So like $60 for a pair?

  4. Well, it looks like my weather prediction is about as accurate as the ones the “professionals” normally produce.

Bummer that you can’t make it to Black Rock, Martha. I’m sure Jerry is gutted by this. 🙂

I love that the AJC reported the shutting of I-85 SOUTHBOUND as “Breaking News” only to have to correct themselves when finding out that it was I-85 Northbound.

No silly, this Amazon deal is only meant for people with one leg.

  5. Martha says:

I’m going to still try to make it to Black Rock…we will see (either way, Jerry will not be there).

Speaking of one leg (well really no legs or arms), I saw this guy, Kyle Maynard, competing at the Crossfit Sectional this weekend. I will have to think of him next time I think its too cold out or I’m to sore to work out. He runs a crossfit gym in Suwanee, amazing guy (sorry for all the links).

Call me a typical Southerner, but as often as we’ve seen it this year, and even after spending a week in the stuff, I still love to see it SNOW!!!!

You Yankees can take you hard, snow-covered hearts somewhere else!

  7. I never said that I was against snow, although admittedly it’s not my favorite weather. I am tired of people acting amazed as if it had never snowed in Atlanta before. I do believe that it’s snowed every month in Atlanta thus far this year.

  8. Barb says:

here is why I don’t like snow……… cuz I can’t go skiing in it!

And – half my office has to leave, daycare closing, fear that roads will be bad, whine, whine, whine……. but I’m really ready for them to be gone, they are driving me insane with the discussions.

But is it very pretty out right now…. I have no problem with that outside my window.

  9. Jenka says:

Martha, you’re going to Indiana tomorrow? I guess that means you won’t be at yoga. Boo! I can give Sharon a ride if she needs it.

  10. Martha says:

Yeah, I was getting ready to FB you…Sharon said she has been feeling a little under the weather so you might want to check with her is she’s going.

Believe me, I’d much rather be going to yoga then make this drive.
