A Fitting End To Yesterday
It was fitting that my dinner was had at a restaurant called No Mas since I was crying “No Mas! Cantina” all day yesterday.
Instead of doing laundry I chose to meet up with friends ITP-Reader Maigh and Frank at No Mas! prior to spending a little time at Elliott Street Pub. At No Mas! I consumed a few beers along with a vegetarian burrito (note that I currently have more vegetarian days than carnivorous days this month). The food was good, but typical Mexican — at least what I ate.
ITP Flickr Pic
This is the photo that failed to upload yesterday.
As it turned out, it was taking the long road to Flickr because our office’s internet connection has been crappy lately.
My Day Sucked, But I Know Of Someone Who Had A Worse Day
About a week ago an ITP-Reader’s husband was mugged at gunpoint in East Atlanta, not four blocks from my home. While this was certainly horrible news, the asshats put a good scare into him and stole his wallet. Thankfully he was not hurt.
This morning I read that last night she and her husband were held up at gunpoint again this time about four blocks closer to their home while they were walking home from the village a little before 10pm. These criminals are so low that they even stole the couple’s wedding rings last night.
I am certainly sorry to hear friends of mine become victims once, never mind more than once.
As I’ve chronicled in this blog I’ve been the victim of crime twice while living in East Atlanta. Having one of those incidents involve having guns pointed at me I understand the fear and anger that accompanies this sort of violation.
This is not about the economy, this is about low moral standards and a society that allows the innocent to be punished while the criminals get away with a slap on the wrist. This is not a society in which I desire to live.

Is is safe for me to come ITP for some Fox Bros.?
Sal I can say with 90% certainty that all will be okay.
1) You will be three miles from the Center of Terrorist Activity (aka East Atlanta)
2) You will be escorted to your car, even if parked in Fox Bros BBQ’s parking lot, by more than one of your friends.
3) I have a feeling you could deliver a quick kick to someone’s nuts and be able to outrun any 16 year-old thug most likely wearing pants which show off his underwear.
good answers Paulie!
BTW – are you in Dekalb, so you didn’t get to vote for mayor?
I can’t believe there was only a 20% turnout to vote for mayor? What is wrong with the people in the City of Atlanta?
Maybe the thugs kept people away from the polling places.
I am a City of Atlanta resident. I am part of the “problem”.
1) I was not up to date on the candidates, so I felt unprepared to vote.
2) I was running late for work so I couldn’t vote in the morning.
3) I had a lousy day, so by day’s end I was thinking more about leaving Atlanta than I was voting for its next Mayor.
I also contend that if we gave a shit about elections then Election Day should be a mandatory paid holiday, or at least half-day.
Barb, Paulie is in the strange little no man’s land of COA in DeKalb (as is all of EAV) so he did, and apparently will again, get to vote for Mayor.
The only time I’m out at night is when I’m walking Nibbles or going for a run, knock on wood, my dressing like a hobo seems to be keeping the baddies away. I don’t even want to tell Jerry, he worries about me too much as it is…
More than once I’ve responded to the thug wannabes that ask is they can ‘run with me’ that they will have to pull up their pants if they want any chance of keeping up.
How could you not be up to date? You didn’t listen to all those phone calls? 😉
I’m not up to date either (since I don’t live in the City), but Mary Norwood was endorsed by the Fire Dept., and she has always supported them while being on the City Council, so to protect Allan’s job, that is how I would have voted if I had been able to. I’m not totally sure about Kasim Reed, but he seems to have some good ideas too, and he is all about the safety of the city. Dec. 1st is the runoff…… put it on the calendar now.
Can’t run, can’t fight pants is what the fire dept. calls them.
To say that I’ve lost all confidence in the City of Atlanta is an understatement. Norwood appears to be batshit crazy and Reed has Franklin’s “endorsement” — which is exactly what I don’t want to hear. Both candidates are “pro-safety” because that’s what voters want to hear. Politicians kiss your ass in order to distract you from their pickpocketing.
Cynical much? Yep!
I just might vote for a politician who’d guarantee an end to RoboCalling.
just so you know, I’m feeling a little snarky today……..
Mary Norwood has most of your “requirements” for a woman – she’s petite, and had a short haircut. Just cuz she is a little older, come on….. you should like her. Isn’t that how most people determine how to vote? (just had a crazy conversation here with idiot co-workers about voting)
Looking forward to Fox Bros. tomorrow night too!
Kudos to you Barb. You’ve made me uncontrollably smile for the first time in days.
I like today’s pic… although it would have been more fun if the speedometer needle had been on, say, 100 😉
Of course, I have to admit that I appreciate the fact that you either pulled over or timed it just right to capture the even 100K.
I’m not that good. I pulled off the road to make sure I got the shot.
