The East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads Are Back!
After laundry last night I spent the majority of the night in front of my computer drafting the 2009 version of the East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads. I can say with confidence that had little idea what I was doing this year so I won’t be too surprised if my team is terrible. That being said, they can’t be much worse than the 2008 version of the Double D’s who were auto-drafted since I was in Colorado, and managed to win but one game.
I had the seventh pick (of twelve teams) and I decided to focus on running backs. With my first two picks I chose Frank Gore and Ronnie Brown, before then selecting Dallas quarterback Tony Romo in the third round.
Catching Up With Michael Palin
Once the draft completed I decided to watch the final episodes from 1991’s Michael Palin: Pole To Pole.
Palin, who is probably best-known for his work with Monty Python back in the 1970s, has done four travel series for the BBC during the late-1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
During the first series, Michael Palin: Around The World In Eighty Days Palin and his crew attempted to recreate Fineus Foggs’ journey around the world in eighty days.
During the “Pole To Pole” series Palin and his crew started at the North Pole and traversed their way along the 30º Longitude line to the South Pole (with one excursion to Chile because it was the only way that they could get to the South Pole). The series was an interesting look back to a period of my life that I remember well, and Palin traversed through grounds whose histories changed dramatically during that time period.

One More Day Of Knee Rest
I would have loved to strap the Red Rocket onto the Jackmobile today. However, my knees are still a bit tender so I’ve decided to give them one more night of rest and return to the saddle tomorrow night — weather permitting.

I wanted to ride yesterday but rain crappy day at work= cold beer. Today will be different, I will ride at least 20.
It didn’t rain anywhere near me yesterday. I must say that I am currently confused however because most of the weather reports I saw for today said that it was going to be nice, but yet it’s currently very crappy.
Strange, it rained all day at my house. And I’m with you on today, it’s supposed to be nice but it looks pretty crappy now.

I finally got a ride in last night and plan to tonight and tomorrow as well. The ground was still so wet last night that the horse kept losing his backend on the turns — think cyclo-cross with a pissy bike.
I think the crappy is supposed to burn away, but it’s sure taking its time about it.

Thanks everyone, so far so good, I haven’t fallen apart yet.
I rode this morning (first time on the bike since the tri-incident), it was almost chilly with a misty rain, sort of a nice change of pace. It was starting to get a little slick on the roads, just as we were finishing up.
Just picking on you Bob! You were actually low by 300 lbs and he’s not fat; he’s substantial!
You won’t believe how much time I had to spend convincing Steve that he needed a new road bike last night… and I wasn’t even trying to wrangle another horse or dog out of the deal. He ain’t right.
BTW, you left the bowl that your good and good for us potato salad came in. Let me know how to get it to you. I can send it with Steve tomorrow, who can pass it to ???

Steve, we need to talk. When the wife says “you need a new road bike” you don’t argue, you say “yes dear, great idea! I’ll start shopping”. You have enough connections to get a good deal too. Jump on it!
Hmm….my soon to be famous potato salad bowl, I thought I forgot something. May be a good excuse to go to George’s tomorrow. I’ll let you know if I get the OK from the wife.
Well that was easier than I thought it would be. Looks like the Knoll family will be at George’s tomorrow night. Yay!
I try not to get bike fever… working the big races, it can be an easy thing to do- I keep thinking I would like to play at cyclocross… it’s very low key and looks like a lot of fun. I also like to think I’m earning a new bike by riding a lot, which is something I haven’t had time to do lately. I could always take a helmet and shoes next week and borrow a neutral bike from Mavic. It was odd in Greenville- Mavic has had their car sponsorship pulled, so they are working out of rental cars- which aren’t screaming Mavic yellow.

Ah that’s right… Barb said TJ would be coming back from Mountain Bike Worlds in Austrailia on Monday and would not be at ToM. There goes my plan…
