The Price Of Poker

Oh, I didn’t lose; just the opposite. I won a few bucks last night. However, I did get home at 12:45am causing me to sleep later than normal, which in turn means that this is being published later than normal…

I Thought Marta Was Da Bomb
Today I took the Doraville train from Five Points to the Lindbergh. Normally, I’d let the Doraville train pass and wait for the North Springs train and ride it all the way to Dunwoody. Since I seemed to be the only one without a jacket (I missed the cold weather memo) I thought I should really be different today.

My experimentation almost really paid off when I saw a guy waiving his arm and the Marta police running toward him. The three men stopped at a cluster of luggage. They looked at the luggage for a minute, the non-police participant walked away, and the police took the luggage. For a second I thought (and maybe so did they) that Marta was having a bomb scare.

“Are” R.I.P
What did the word “are” do to people? Why do people feel that “is” should be used even when the subject is plural? I just don’t understand.

Don’t believe me? Listen to people and you will notice that they say things like “There’s two ways of doing this.”

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – I think that I am depressed
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Ravonettes — “My Boyfriend’s Back” (holy crap I hate that song)
Website Of The Day – My English is not perfect, that’s why I cannot live without Dictionary.com.

If you ever want a quick glance of the sites I’ve picked for my Websites Of The Day, you can check them out on del.icio.us, my user name is InsideThePerimeter (go figure), and they are all tagged as “blogged.”

Exercise (b)Log – nothing

Cheers!

  2. Paulie says:

Oh I don’t. I can’t really spell well, so I like the suggested spellings that the online dictionary provides

  3. Maybe the is/are gaffe is a form of verbal synesis:

As in “For the wages of sin is death. [Romans 6:23]”

The wages of sin *are* death, you morons! Wait, that doesn’t sound right …

  4. J. Sykes says:

Marta is horrible…being forced to ride it at school is…well as close to hell as you can get sometimes.

  5. Paulie says:

Marta has more downs than ups. But at least I know that it is saving my sanity (rather than commuting to Perimeter Mall area) and hopefully some money as well.

Re: the song du jour, some bunch of a**hles have redone some of the songs that are on the Stand By Me soundtrack, like “Lollipop.” I don’t know who they are, but I want to kill them.
