Each Winter deciduous trees drop a portion of their past and generate anew each Spring. I am trying to do the same. It’s time for me to shed some of my past and concentrate on generating something new.
I’m Contemplating The Separation Of Twitter And Facebook
I’m finding that following the actions of so many people, many of whom are on both Twitter and Facebook, has been chewing up a lot of my time. I’ve decided that I do not wish to spend so much of my time pursuing both of these endeavors and am contemplating dropping people in Twitter who I also have as Facebook friends. This seems like a severe severance of ties but may be the only way that I can effectively use both tools.
Have you encountered this problem? What was your solution.

I May Be Falling For Baseball Again
And the iPhone may be playing the roll of Cupid.
For part of my drive home yesterday I listened to the afternoon baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sadly the LA Dodgers play-by-play was not being done by Vince Scully when I was listening and the audio dropped out when I entered an area only served by AT&T‘s EDGE network, but while I was listening all was magical and it was like being a kid all over again.

Yeah, baseball actually lost two legends yesterday — longtime Phillies’ announcer Harry Kalas, who I had the pleasure hearing call a few games because the Phillies have Spring Training in Clearwater, and flash-in-the-pan Mark “The Bird” Fidrych.
All trees seem to be fine in my part of Atlanta, but there seemed to be many a downed tree elsewhere. It’s weird, but good, that Moreland didn’t experience the wind.
Ormewood and Grant Park looked good yesterday when I went for a run. Decatur and Oakhurst were another story. At least three roads in Oakhurst were closed because of downed tress and there were a few stop lights out in Decatur yesterday evening when I went to pick Haley up from the vet.
One of my GFs (Slopes) was told she wouldn’t have power back until tomorrow.
Paulie if this was facebook i would have tagged your opening line with an “i like this”, inspite you using the word anew? 😉
What’s wrong with “anew?” It’s a word, and I think I may have even used it in the proper context. 🙂
Does Slopes not live in the hood any longer? I’ve really lost touch since I stopped living on The EAV Buzz.
I did see some outages of stop lights along my travels yesterday, but thankfully no tree damage.
Nope Slopes moved over to the Decatur area. She wasn’t really on the buzz much, that was more RP’s domain, I doubt you would have found it out there anyway.
She stopped coming on Mondays, that’s how I found out. Not sure what happend, haven’t had a chance to catch up with her in awhile.

We’ve got tons of trees in our yard up here in Marietta, but not one came down, and we did have some awesome wind yesterday morning. A few branches here and there are lying around. Luckily we have until 4/30 to burn them, but we need to get to it soon, I need to get my garden planted, and that is where the huge burn pile is.
I can’t burn where I plan to put my “garden.” Well, I could but then I’d have to hire someone to come out and build another deck.
wait- Paulie – are you going to plant a garden? really?
I’m planning on growing some tomatoes and perhaps peppers this year.
Little known Paulie facts:
1) As a child I always had a small garden, whether we lived in New York or Florida. Mind you, I never ate what I grew then, but I enjoyed gardening.
2) I have always wanted to start a Square Foot Garden in my current yard, but have been far too lazy.
Will you go get a topsy turvy tomato plant? I have no where to hang one, but I want to know if they really work. Yes, occasionally I do watch commercials.
Yay for gardens. Steve built two fantastic raised garden beds for me and I planted one over the weekend and will do the other next weekend. I’m so excited about my little gardens. We may go crazy with these beds if I have as much fun with the first two as I think I will. So far I have tomatos, peppers, lettuce, herbs and a lone squash plant. Next up beans and another squash.
Paulie – Steve’s an expert at building raised beds now if you need help getting that Square Foot Garden going…

My parents have the topsy turvy tomato going. I’ll report. I don’t really have a place to hang it for full sun… and certainly no lack of ground.
Paulie, thanks for the good wishes last week. I’m catching up with ITP after being on paternity leave last week (I would complain about it lasting only a week, but I know that’s better than most companies). Nolan has been a fantastic addition to the Beebe family, usually only waking up once or twice a night so far. He seems pretty laid back – I hope that continues for the next 20 years 😉
With any luck, I’ll have more pictures on the blog later this week.

I got a few plants in the ground on Sunday. Peppers, tomatoes, basil and some onions. Plus broccoli and carrot seedlings and lettuce are coming along on the deck. I have a few raised beds, I’ve been wanting to put another large one by the fence/gate but just haven’t gotten around to it, I will pay much beer for anyone that wants to help out. While you are at it I could use a tressle for some beans and cukes also 😉

All we need is someone to start raising chickens, so we can get some fresh eggs. We almost ran over some crossing the road on the Wheelhopper Sunday, Doo Doo stopped to ask them why they were crossing, but they didn’t seem to want to answer him.
Well I did hear some roosters on Saturday morning near Cabbagetown.
I would LOVE to have a couple of chickens in the back yard…it is legal to keep them within the City of Atlanta….anyone want to build a chicken coop also?
When I lived in Grant Park I would see a roster walking around Boulevard every morning when I would walk the dogs. There use to be one a few houses away from me, but I haven’t heard him in a long time. Chickens are cool in town, roosters not so much.

I think Nibbles would make a fine chicken hearding dog (do chickens need to be hearded? Doesn’t matter, it would be fun to watch).
