Wow! What! A! Game!

Is it evident that I didn’t watch any of the Super Bowl? It was the first time in years I wish that I had been invited to a Super Bowl party so that I could go to someone’s house and eat $100 worth of deviled eggs.

On Saturday I ran into an old acquaintance, Clarissa, who twenty years ago used to write a blog called “Romanlilly”. That was one of the blogs which inspired this space, and may have been the source of my fake German word “Dangen”. Running into her made the insanity of going to Your Dekalb Farmers Market on a Saturday, and the Saturday prior to Super Bowl Sunday, okay.

    Wordle FAIL!

Saturday was a bad day. After an easy half day in the office, I came home to take a brief nap before my planned ride. Unfortunately, we found Cash had run into “something”
and had torn himself open at the shoulder. We were able to get him loaded and off to the clinic. The vet took almost 2 hours to clean, prepare and sew up the wound. He may be at the vet all week to be cared for. We did find the source of his injury- a corner gate post with the threaded rod of the hinge sticking out. Debbie wondered if he had been excited by the hounds, as they were nearby during Saturday’s hunt.

The Superb Owl was a waste. I didn’t have a dog in the fight, but sorta was rooting for the Eagles. Who was the halftime “entertainment”?

Everyone complaining about Kendrick Lamar is cracking me up. If you don’t like rap, then you think it was the worst? I mean, I’m a white girl from Iowa, I am not interested in rap, but still – was he good,? Ask the people that like his music. I have no idea. Getting Serena Williams to do a cameo to dis Drake (his arch enemy in the rap world) was brilliant.

But – if you get a county star, do all the people that like rap say it’s the worst? Maybe, I don’t pay attention.

It was good to see you this weekend, and to out myself as an ITP lurker this weekend by the fancy cheeses. The loyalty of your readers continues to impress 🙂

Very quiet weekend. Friday we went to Wisteria. Saturday we went to lunch at the Albert and then met some friends at Brew Dog on the Beltline. That section of the Beltline, and the type of venue that Brew Dog is — open, lots of games, lots of people — on a beautiful sunny Saturday is SO PACKED. It’s not my scene and we only stayed an hour. Sat on my back porch instead and listened to nature. Sunday we did absolutely nothing.

I really didn’t care who won the game, but I did want it to be a GOOD game. It was not.

    Dad & I didn’t do much all weekend –
watched a lot of sports – Waste Mgmt Phoenix golf tournament is a trip, they have made it a party atmosphere – #16 has grandstands completely around the par 3 hole, and the fans boo bad shots, cheer, do the wave, etc. Watched some random basketball games, and of course, the Super Bowl.

We did go to a nail salon to get his fingernails trimmed & cleaned up.
I went grocery shopping for a few minutes – Dad doesn’t eat much, so I don’t have to cook much.
My idiot cellar dwelling brother brought home some farm fresh eggs, so I made 2 quiches (pie crusts come in 2s) and gave him one.

It’s been cold – I went for a short walk with the next door neighbor – 1.5 miles was plenty – phone said feels like 15 degrees.

  6. After consulting the week’s weather forecast I decided to do some Wee Little Farming this morning.

Back from a weekend in Asheville with the neighborhood dads. We had a group of 15 drinking our way across as many breweries as we could for 2 days. Good times and plenty of shenanigans ensued.
Asheville is back open for business and everybody was really happy we were there and spending money, some places are hanging on by a string since the hurricane. One of my favorite breweries was barely spared, Wedge brewing in the River Arts District said they had about 3 feet of water in the building but was able to save all their beer.

  8. My stupid eyelid has created a chalazion. I will live with it for awhile, annoyingly so, until I feel like paying for its removal and the hours of pain that occur once the local anesthetic wears off.
