NBC Universal did me two favors this weekend.

On Saturday they plastered the screen of the soccer match I was watching with ads (apparently something they are entirely comfortable doing since they did it again during Sunday’s match) frustrating me to the point of turning off the match. One of the reasons I enjoy watching soccer is the constant flow of play not interrupted by advertisements.

Yesterday they didn’t show the match I wanted to watch on Peacock, so I couldn’t sit to watch it. In each instance I got off the couch and did something physical.

Thanks for being greedy shitheads, NBC Universal.

Oh, yesterday I failed at Wordle. D’Oh! However I’m not in the camp that believes CYBER is a word on its own.

Wordle: four, my starter was DAILY

  1. I just realized that last year marked the 30th anniversary of the album “Throwing Copper” by the band Live. Yeah, and all other grungy albums released that year. Thirty years? Crap, I didn’t think it possible to feel older than I am, but I do.

  2. and I just discovered a spelling error in today’s post. I can’t tell you how angry I get because I can no longer edit posts using my iPhone. When the text is longer than a dozen lines I am unable to scroll to the bottom and type. It’s not like the iPhone is some goddamn obscure platform, wtf can’t the WordPress developers (oh which I have no desire to join) fix this shit?!?!

    Wordle in 4.

A busy weekend- rescued hounds from inside the Girl Scout camp on Saturday. Dinner with Meg Saturday evening and picked up her late dad’s recliner.

Looked at another LQ trailer in BFE Alabama. The lady said, “the driveway is off a gravel road and a mile long”- no kidding!! Talk about off the radar! Still fully loaded with her stuff, but we saw enough to pull the trigger and will pick it up next weekend if the weather holds and she can clear out of it. And I’ll be glad to turn OFF all the trailer groups on FB.

Birthday Dunch at Tomo on the way home from trailer buying. Really tasty!! So nice to get birthday wishes from all over the place yesterday. 66 and counting.

Wordle in 2 today starting with TIRED. Connections Y, B, G, P. I would never have gotten purple. It was a stupid category.

On Saturday, I ran the Polar Opposite. The same course as the Peachtree but in reverse. It was a well organized event and a lot of fun. Parked at Dip Stick’s house at the start so I had to run back from Lenox making it a 12 mile day. Dip was on his trainer getting in some miles when I arrived back. I managed to get a 1st AG award. Yesterday was the GUTS Fat Ass 25k/50k at Sweet Water State Park. I arrived at 6:30 to help set up and do number pick-up and was home by 5:30 after the clean-up and packing up all the equipment. In between I managed to get in 20 miles.

So much rain last night. Supposed to be windy today. I don’t like the combination of saturated ground, wind and big trees. Makes me a bit nervous.

Excited for the Lions. They actually played pretty good last night.

Happy 1st Monday of the new year. The official everyone goes back to work day!

Workers are here starting on all the peeling soffits, fascia, & whatever all needs to be repaired before we get the metal roof in February. They have plenty to do, but the weather wont work for painting for at least a week – so this may take a while to get completed.

Weekend was busy enough – spent the day on Saturday over in Chamblee, we did a walkabout, then ended up at 4 different places for beverages. But – we took a while doing it, so wasn’t really any worry about being drunk driving home.

Sunday we went to Home Depot to buy all the stuff Allan needs to re-route the vents in the attic to the sides – so we won’t have any extrusions in the metal roof. Also decided we needed a new battery in the Subaru – damn those things are expensive. I laughed when I look at the receipt – the guy said he’d give us a 10% discount (wasn’t sure why, but was happy to get it) – it said Senior discount.

  6. Today has turned into a cleanup day. I have been cooking/baking a lot the past two days, so I’ve made a lot of dirty dishes and utensils; going to take all day to clean that up. Working on updating/cleaning my Mac. Hoping the rain/wind won’t generate much more for me to clean.

Cleaned up 5 blow down trees on the Hooligan trail network on Saturday, after the rain last night and the predicted winds I’m betting there will be more.
Dropped off my truck for transmission rebuild, I will be truckless for 2 weeks! I’m able to borrow my niece’s car since she is currently in Germany for college so at least I will have wheels.
This year is starting off expensive, hopefully that changes soon.

    • Barb says:

I think we may beat you Bob on expensive start to the year – this roof, and then sometime in the not too distant future – a new truck.

Glad you had a car to borrow – or – you could have just used Travis’s? 😉

      • Bob says:

You definitely have me on expenses, I can’t imagine what that roof costs. Although long term it will be cheaper since there is no need to replace. I don’t need to imagine about the truck, I know what those go for, Yikes!
For transportation I can also ride “Travis’s” motorcycle 🙂

        • Barb says:

yep -its pretty crazy, but – as Allan says – we will never have to deal with it again.

All the soffit/fascia work is going to be interesting -as this house was built in 1958 & it was never vented or whatever properly, so they are having to do a lot of replace/repair work.

    • I hope I come nowhere near either of you, even if I get some necessary work done on the ITP Estate.

Envious of your niece. I wish I had the opportunity and desire to have gone to Germany when I was young.

      • Bob says:

She is going to Smith and this is her semester abroad (or full year, I’m not really sure). I’m envious too as she is having a great time and going on all sorts of adventures.

        • Barb says:

I wish I had known about a semester abroad when I went to school – but did they even do those sorts of things way back when ?

          • Jenka says:

They absolutely did in the ’90s when I was in college. I was all set to do one when my financial aid fell through.

  8. Steve says:

Bitter out. And it ain’t really cold- yet. Now the horses have their blankets on…

    • Just came back from a brisk three-mile walk. That’s not to say I walked quickly, but rather that it’s cold and windy out there.

      • Barb says:

its cold out – if it wasn’t so breezy, it might not be so awful. I wanted to go for a walk, not sure I can convince myself to go today.

  9. Jenka says:

Hi friends — I’m back at work but have been too busy to read all the back posts. I will get caught up at some point!
