I am very thankful to not be a Florida homeowner. I don’t know what my mother’s neighborhood is like this morning, but from the news I’ve seen a lot of the area experienced flooding.

As I write this it’s nearly 6am and it appears Atlanta is being spared. Another 1.5″ of rain should fall this morning, however all WLF water buckets are filled to the brim so I can’t save any of it. I do have a few empty water bottles that I will fill from some buckets today, but by and large my water catchment is at 100%. Now I need to use this water in lieu of turning on my spigot, which costs me money.

Let’s talk about something other than the weather.

Fortunately I was able to get a haircut and visit the Total Wine on Cobb Parkway before learning of the dinner cancellation, so my trip was not for naught. I had intended to also purchase gas while up that way, but the traffic headed home was already getting snarled so I returned to the ITP Estate toot sweet. Upon returning home I reheated some tofu tikka masala I had in the refrigerator, and turned in for the evening.

In hindsight I should have filled up the tank of the M6 yesterday.

I have owned my new iPhone for about a week and each day something “new” arises. On Tuesday I had difficulty pairing it to the M6’s entertainment system. On Wednesday I discovered that Siri listening for my commands is not turned on by default. What?!?! And yesterday I was unable to pay for my beer purchase using my Apple Watch because apparently there is no seamless cutover when one buys a new iPhone, so I had to relearn how to add a credit card to my watch. What will happen today…

The East Atlanta Strut is tomorrow.

Wordle: two, my starter was SUITE

  1. And even though the worst of the storm appears to be bypassing us I just made a run to Kroger and filled the M6’s gas tank. Better prepared than sorry.

I’m sitting in dark. Trees still standing. Our fellow Hooligan, Steve in Thomson, lost 50% of their trees but they are okay. Sara and Cameron with house damage due to a tree in their living room! Send positive vibes. My mom’s house should be okay since it sits inland. So much rain and still raining. Hope my trees remain upright. Hope everyone else is okay.

    • Oh no! I had no idea that I it was so bad in Thomson! I guess that the storm’s eastern swerve put them in the bands of high wind.

      Hope your power returns soon.

Hope that everyone else is okay as well.

  3. East Atlanta is nearly through it all. Currently winds have completed subsided, and rain is light.

    Wordle in 3.

I think I slept through most of it. I heard wind a couple times, but nothing that went bump in the night. Debbie said there’s a little more rain in the gauge, but not much.

Other that that, is was a boring evening watching a knockoff Weather Channel. I did manage a half hour on the trainer.

Today we get to put vehicles back in their normal location and maybe I’ll tackle the air bags on the truck. But first I have to get out of bed.

See some folks Sunday at TC? 6pm?

  5. Quick look around the ITP Estate ans WLF confirms that all is okay for now. Sure tree limbs and power loss are still possible, but I may have been spared.

  6. I should probably have gone to Lowe’s and bought my new locking mailbox. Today would be a really good day to dig a hole and cement in a pole.

    • Guess I should heed the flash flood warning and stay home. At least I was able to fill the gas tank earlier.

We keep talking about flash flooding. You know what makes flash flooding worse? Developing tracts of land, removing areas that could absorb water, and draining all the runoff into creeks and streams via concrete drains. I know, I’m a hippie tree hugger…

  7. Barb says:

I have power – good ole Cobb EMC I guess is better than Marietta Power over at Sally’s.
Looked outside – I don’t see any tree limbs down – that’s amazing.

  8. Barb says:

BTW – Reveille wasn’t played until 0805 this morning – even Dobbins is running behind today.

  9. And now for something completely different…

Registration for BRAG Spring Tune Up, and Big BRAG is open! Now all I have to do is convince the powers that be that Eeyore is a valuable addition to the Chattahooligans. 😀

    Wordle is 3 starting with RAINY. Connections: Y, X, X, B, X, P, G.

  11. Good morning to go out to pull weeds, even if your body produces painful abnormalities on your widening torso making it more difficult to do so. 🙁

  12. On Tuesday night there was strong talk of doing Critical Mass tonight. I wonder if the past two days of weather has changed this attitude.

  13. Bob says:

So far so good here, nothing down at my house. My inlaws are a different story though, no power and a tree in their driveway. Gonna head down there in a few to rescue them.

I may have some logistical backflips to do on BRAG, Metallica is going to be in Atlanta on June 3rd and I really want to see them. I’ll have to figure out a plan or miss the concert. I wonder if Franklin would give me the route early? LOL

  14. Steve says:

Finally out of bed. The stove said power came on around 5:20- no clue how long it might or might not have been off. A few limbs down, with one particularly dead one must have been hung up and finally made it to ground. Minnie Pearl is walking around. She is the likely one to go AWOL if the fence had been breached.

  15. Contemplating another attempt at trainer in order to get some exercise this morning, even though my body hurts more than a 59 y/o man’s body should.

  16. Listening to The Hold Steady’s “Separation Sunday” album on a stereo speaker system. Joy!

Wish I could go to the three-day The Hold Steady weekend coming soon, but it’s sold out. I really wanted to be at the show at The EARL, but maybe I’ll go to one of the two shows at Variety Playhouse.

  17. Fuck, there is a new water stain on my den ceiling. Going to have to investigate.

  18. Steve says:

When I looked at the rain gauge, i saw it filled to the brim, which is why Debbie thought it was empty! Count us in for another 5 inches.

Starting the airbag on the truck. Just a PITA getti g the damn thing jacked up!

  19. Jenka says:

We lost power from midnight to 5, then it went out again at 8:30 and just came back on. No clue as to why!

  20. Bob says:

Oh yeah, we are a definite maybe for TC Sunday. Laura is donating platelets in the morning so it depends on how she feels.
