Spent a low key day in Amsterdam yesterday. The Gand of Four, now separated from the tour group, did a cheese and wine tasting which was arranged by ITP-Reader Barb. We wandered into three wine shops, identifying the “tourist trap” chain first, picking up cheeses which we took to a wine shop. We sampled four cheeses (identities to revealed when I find out exactly what we ate) while drinking pours of Dutch wine (which was surprisingly good). The rest of the afternoon was spent wandering and people watching, before I ate frites for dinner.
Oh, and I am now the proud owner of three new pair of underwear thanks to a purchase at TK Maxx (as it is called on this side of the Atlantic).
Today Haarlem? A brewery in Amsterdam? I’ll figure that out once my nose stops running this morning.
My next “plan”, to start tomorrow, was to spend two nights in a westernmost German town called Emmerich. That plan failed when I discovered they had no available hotels anywhere near the train station. “Plan B” fell through because I don’t want to spend over four hours (one way) on a journey to Bremen that will last only two days. Trying to make an alternative plan… Find out what I did when I return to Amsterdam on Monday in preparation for my return flight on Tuesday.
Wordle: two, my starter was CURVE
Connections: perfect, Green > Yellow > Blue > Purple
At the airport- plane is loading. But not us, we are in the back- row 53.
The Delta app still doesn’t show our seat assignments- had to get a paper boarding pass.
I guess when they changed the ticket to today, the app info went wonky.
I’ve just got drainage into my throat, & a sore throat, but I feel a little better than yesterday.
Amanda & Nora (from our boat) are on the flight with us.

Connections was a conniption day for me.
In a 4 seat row, but no one next to me so I can sort of stretch out-
Using my airfly device with my shockz bone conduction ear buds – works great- I can hear the movie & what’s going on around me. (Like the flight attendant)
Goofy hotel room in Amsterdam- but – it worked out ok.
Paulie can describe it for y’all reading.
The ones in Brussels & Bruges were much better. So, as Meatloaf says- 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
The last one turned out to be a hostel. At least we have a private bathroom!
Is Sally still there? When does she come home?
Yes. She flies out tomorrow.
In Haarlem, eating lunch and drinking beer. I think I caught the Cruise Crud, but time will have to tell. My health will dictate my next move.
At the Jopen brewery/restaurant we sat next to a couple who live in Marietta. Of course we did…
Now thats funny.
Wordle in 5. Nice start word, BARB!
At the gate waiting to board my 0900 to Miami. Lots of cruisers onboard. At least they look like cruisers to me.
I think it will be an easy trip- certainly easier than Newark. I scoped out a place to rent bikes in the Everglades and a 15 mike loop closed to all but the tour trams. Single speed, coaster brake. Might need a lesson.
Safe travels all.

I managed to tie Paulie & get Wordle in 2.
No good WiFi on plane so only could sort of keep up with what’s going on in the world.
Annual mammogram this morning, fun times! Today my dad arrives for the weekend. He has been on an odyssey — he left Massachusetts on Saturday and took two days to drive to Virginia, where he loaded his car onto a train and took the train overnight to Sanford, FL (NE of Orlando). My uncle, his youngest brother, lives there so he spent two days with him. Yesterday he started driving north and spent the night in Fitzgerald, GA. On Monday he will head up to my cabin and spend 2-3 weeks up there, depending on how bored he gets. Must be nice to be retired!
It is, even when you are not!
I’m looking forward to getting back in order to start my weight loss routine.
Back in the ATL.
The MCP app line was way shorter than the global entry line.
On Marta after the shuttle back to Domestic
