Old phone, new carrier. Who dis? Yep, on Saturday I officially told AT&T to go pound sand and changed my cellphone provider. When I return from Europe I will do the same for internet, and live with the consequences.
I have finally started packing for Europe. I have to continue to remind myself how soon this trip will begin. Seems like just yesterday I was getting ready for Iowa.
Yesterday I saw that a tomato hornworm munched into one of the hot banana peppers on my plant. While I didn’t see it doing the munching, I could tell by the distinctive poop left on a leaf that it was a tomato hornworm. I hope it experienced the same pain from eating these peppers that I do.
A short, but violent, storm dumped 0.5″ of rain and some small hail at the ITP Estate yesterday afternoon. No damage occurred to the house nor WLF, at least from what I could tell as I walked around the property picking up small branches after the rain passed.
Last night I was told by ITP-Reader Barb of the permanent closure of another Atlanta brewery, this time it was Grant Park’s Eventide. I had a lot of good times at that brewery, and will miss having it as a local option.
Wordle: four, my starter was PLANE
Connections: one mistake, Yellow > Green > X > Blue > Purple
Wordle in 3.
Good morning from Newark. It was a long, but successful day Saturday. The switchover went as well as expected. We chased issues and fixed all but a couple before we left at 7:30 that evening.
Sunday, we finished chasing those last issues and found what needed the vendor for the AV system and called it a day.
I was able to make it to Top’s Diner Friday evening. A nice meal, but the to-go dessert was to DIE FOR! A huge slab of brownie cheesecake that I ate over 3 days.
Ready for this project to be done and move on to whatever is next. Likely, Miami Vault.

Nicely done in Wordle. After two I had two strong candidates for my next guess, so I played a safety, and Sussex out the correct word from it.
Wordle in 5. Too many words with the last two letters. lol. Connections: y, g, X, b, p. Same as Paulie. Another easy Strands.
I attended a going away party for two GUTS members that are moving. One to Oregon and the other to California. I will miss them but it gives me another reason to plan a trip out west. A walk with friends and dinner last night. I ran a little 5k Saturday morning called Park Run. They are all over the country. Very popular in Europe. They are free timed runs every Saturday. Atlanta has started one up so I went to check it out. Fun group.
Working the full day. Tomorrow I have so much to do with getting my house ready for me to be gone for a few weeks. Laundry, cleaning, cutting the grass, testing my creek, paying the bills, packing, watering the plants etc. Would be nice to have some help around here sometimes. :).
Otherwise nothing new to report.
Completely agree that doing everything alone can be a royal pain in the ass. I have the benefit of currently not working, but there is still so much to do.
Hoping to have a couple of dry days so that I can give the lawn a good mowing before leaving town.
Trying to remind myself that I will be carrying my luggage around Europe, and making some late-minute bag/content changes based on this.
wheels are key
I am using a backpack. I’ve had to climb stairs in Europe, so no wheels for me. I am trying to figure out if I am bring a messenger/computer bag or another small backpack for my “walking around town” day bag.
My luggage doesn’t have wheels either.
we are maybe/probably going to take 2 carryon size suitcases (with wheels) – plus 2 regular size backpacks for our actual take on the plane stuff. Maybe.
And tonight I will try to figure out the best option for my public transit in Amsterdam. I have downloaded the “I am Amsterdam” app. I have traveled around Düsseldorf and around Germany before, so I kind of know what to do when I am there.
everyone says Google maps does an excellent job, just deciding from the tap on / tap off for the trams/buses or getting a day pass or 2 day pass, or whatever is the biggest decision. I’ve read too much & am now more confused than ever. 😉
Yep, that’s what I am trying to figure out as well.
When in Düsseldorf I will be buying a DüsseldorfCard.
We got a nice soaking yesterday, too. The sun came out in between and I thought it was over, then we got another deluge.
My brother came to visit for the weekend and it was very nice. We took him to Rathbun’s Friday. Saturday we took a long dog walk through Freedom Park down to the Beltline and then back through the Inman Park neighborhood. Then Pure for lunch followed by watching sports all afternoon. I made shepherd’s pie for dinner.
Great weekend up at the Ocoee river – rafted the whole day trip Saturday (start about 0930, done about 1500). Beautiful weather on the river – 1st trip in years we didn’t get rained on. (which doesn’t really matter, except for the lunch stop in the rain really sucks)
We did have 2 good fairly short storms on both Friday & Saturday – delayed our potluck dinner both nights & moved it to the gravel parking lot.
Franklin from BRAG would have loved the Friday night band at the Bus Bar – total jam band – they bored me so we didn’t stay very long.
Saturday’s band was called Rum Monday – a steel drum & trop rock type of band.
They were a lot of fun.
Camper is slowly getting dialed in – we still need to figure out a way to darken the fan/vent above our bed – too much light comes in – I don’t sleep well with daylight coming in. We think we have the solution – but need time to get it done.
Sounds great. I missed whether this was an organized trip (a la Spring Tune Up) or a friends gathering. I ask because of your mention of bands.
I guess you never ran into Stephen/Steven the Snooze Box driver?
it was a bunch of our Parrothead friends- I think we have 19 rafting and another 5 or 6 that didn’t raft.
The Bus Bar hired a trop rock band for Saturday night because of us. (they have to hire someone – so why not?)
No Steven (as far as I could tell) – the people that run the place aren’t the owners – and he is the owners’ brother. I asked about him, they weren’t sure if he’d be around or not.
Cool
LOL! I also find a jam band to be boring as hell.
Same. When at BRAG events I never stay for the entirety of whatever Allman Brothers cover band Franklin hires.
I just had a kitchen catastrophe. In making another batch of cowboy candy I allowed my syrup mixture to boil over, and it went all over the stove top. In anger I wound up throwing out all the hot banana peppers and jalapeño peppers I had sliced for the mixture.
And I just ate a huge lunch, so I am going to have to work off some of those calories somehow…
Played the CVS coupon game today to buy some Advil. I think I won today. Bought 1 using a $4 off coupon, that gave me another $5 off coupon for next purchase. Went back & bought a 2nd one using it – and a 30% off coupon.
Boom! Nicely done.
Pretty soon, they will have to start paying you cash to take it!!
its never that good of a deal -but its nice when the coupons actually work. (Walgreens I can NEVER make work, so I drive a couple extra miles to go to CVS)
