I had a fun long weekend in Raleigh, but it’s time for me to head back ITP.

Time to start getting head down for my flight to Europe next week.

Wordle in 4. Flashbacks on 0/6!

Saturday, I got in 25 before it got too hot and I still felt like crap at the end. About halfway through, there was a nice oak tree that I sat under for 10 minutes. I’ll be ready for some cooler temps soon.

Racing was exciting both days. One rider got DQ’d and 1,000 SF fine for taking out another rider and it was completely uncalled for.

Was ready to ride the scooter out Friday after work. Was all ready, helmet on, turned the key and… it had been a minute since I rode, so the battery had drained. I left it on the charger and by Sunday morning, he was ready to take me to breakfast. Perfect temps.

  2. Steve, what is the deal with the motorcycle which is used in some track racing events? This confused me.

    • Steve says:

The race is called the keirin, and they bet on it in Japan. Riders there are kept in isolation during the racing season because of possible cheating. Basically half motor paced, half wide open. A bit more “physicality” is permitted, but it’s still falls under sprint rules. Fun, huh?

Wordle in 5. Starting word LEARN. Perfect Connections: P, G, B, Y. Had to think about Strands but made me look up beginning dances. I would love to learn to dance better.

Ran the Vinings Downhill 5k. I have never tested positive for COVID but I have to think I might have had it at some point. I haven’t been able to run a sub 25 since COVID times. My running has struggled. I was able to run under 25 on Saturday. Still not at Pre-Covid times but getting there. Hopeful. 1st AG win. Worked a very busy Saturday. Black Sheep hash on Sunday. A very small pack but a fun trail. The dang Joro spiders were out in full force. Luckily they aren’t the size of softballs, yet!

I rode trails in Clemson yesterday that do not see a lot of traffic, I was crashing through joro webs all damn day. Why to they always have to be face height? I had to stop and throw my helmet off at one point, yuck.

average weekend here in Iowa –
    weather & temperatures were awesome.
My brother went & got an E-bike – (Momentum brand – I think part of the Giant family) for $1000 for riding around town. Its a nice bike. So he spent some time riding, and learned what happens when the battery runs out.

I changed my flight home to Thursday morning – give him a little more time to do stuff he wants to do.

  5. Hello from Biscuitville just south of Winston-Salem. I am choosing to take a new-to-me route home, with the intent to stop in Asheville for a beer and depending on my hunger, food. I’ve just eaten an unplanned meal, so there may be no hunger when I get to Asheville.

We had a neighborhood poker tournament on Friday. This may have been my last one, I pay money to play and have zero chance of winning and with free flowing beer I always drink too much. Saturday was a little rough.
Sunday I drove up to Clemson again to scout wheelhopper trail. It’s going to be a fun one!

Busy morning here, the new semester is definitely ramping up!

Had a great weekend at the cabin, although unexpected. We got there Friday and the wifi was down. We did everything we could think of but it wasn’t working and the tech company up there couldn’t send anyone over until Monday. Usually I like to watch the Red Sox games, but instead we listened to baseball on the radio and otherwise I read my book, old school! Although I really needed to check my email for work, it was an unexpectedly relaxing weekend.

    • Steve says:

Radio for a baseball game. If you say AM radio, I will laugh out loud.

When I was a kid, I listened to the late Cincinnati games on WLW- those clear channel, 50kw stations were available almost everywhere!

      • Jenka says:

The MLBTV subscription includes both home and away broadcasts for every single game on the MLB app, and it doesn’t have blackouts like the TV broadcasts do. So just in general we often listen to the Braves games because the TV broadcast is blacked out. Also we often listen to games while we’re in the car, and toggle between the Red Sox and the Braves.

Red Sox were wearing yellow again Saturday – so weird……

  8. Hillman Beer sound system played a song from The Cars, followed by one from The Beths. I’ve chosen wisely!
