Yesterday was another day when it looked as if WLF would get a good watering from the skies, but that never materialized.
Happy birthday to ITP Reader Barb.
I have nothing today. I woke up too late and too unmotivated to do laundry, so I will do it tomorrow. I am going to spend the day getting my shit together.
Wordle: five, my starter was TRADE

Wordle in 3!!
I got up at one point yesterday and looked out the window and thought it was foggy. As I got closer, I could see it was actual rain! Sorry you didn’t get any- we also had none on the farm.
I finally broke down and put the road bike on the trainer last night and got in 40 minutes while I watched a very boring sprint stage- Bobke dropped an F bomb when someone apparently tried to come into their studio. And it was a bit exciting when the 2 team cars got confused on a traffic circle and tried to run into one another- same team and one of their riders coming back from a crash. Could have been really ugly, but no body got fined.
Ophthalmologist later this morning.

3? Well done!
Last night’s nineteen mile ride was slower than it normally is, but I struggled all night. Yes it was hot, not as hot as it has been, but that’s no excuse for my poor performance; sadly I think it is a physical problem, hopefully one I won’t have to seriously deal with before I return from Europe in September.
You hit what few highlights yesterday’s stage held. I was so shocked at Bobke’s F bomb I nearly rewound to ensure I heard what I heard. His explanation was nearly as funny as hearing him swear in a hot mic. The cars on the roundabout, for the same team(!), was surreal.
I probably should go to an ophthalmologist since I haven’t been to one in decades. Hope you have good results.
I finally got an eye exam after decades because my driver’s license renews this month and I’d been having some issues reading small print. I didn’t want the DMV to deny me.
I think it was a fatigue issue, I haven’t had a problem as of late. I did order some reading glasses that have a corrective lens for my right eye only, my left eye is good. Same as it ever was, but it also explains why the drug store readers I bought made the situation worse. I liked Dr. Peter Moresi at Target Optical on Johnson Ferry in East Cobb.
Curiously, my eyesight is getting BETTER as I age! I no longer need glasses to drive (per my last license renewal) and I find I frequently am not using my glasses while staring at my computer screen. I still need something for very close work and I cheated yesterday when I was crimping cable and used my phone as my magnifier.
David – you come to East Cobb for an Eye Doctor? really?
It’s Debbie’s fault. I think my last eye exam was 20 years or more ago. She needed an eye exam and talked me into going with her. And let’s just say that I’m making peace with Cobb County in general. 🙂
too funny.
I found a small eye doc office on Powers Ferry just down the road from us a year or so ago, 2 female eye docs.
I liked them – they keep emailing me I should come back for a check up since its been over a year.
All you people and your good eyes. I’ve had bifocals for decades and the last 4 years I need prescription readers for reading and computers. I am seriously contemplating getting those strings that you hang glasses around your neck so that I can more easily switch between glasses. Ugh.
Jenka, I can’t convince Debbie to use those and I even bought her some! She says they are for old ladies. I say they are for people that lose their glasses, like her!
Wordle in 4 starting with BREAD. Connections: g, y, b, p. Breezed thru Strands.
Just another work day and dog sitting duties. It’s a 3 story cluster home so I have to carry the dog up the stairs every night and down every morning and lift her in and out of the buggy. Hope my back survives the week. She is a really sweet dog, just old like me.
Had a slow leak in my back tire and my normal go to place was already closed since it was after 5 so I took it to this really sketchy place and they plugged it for 15 dollars. Hopefully I didn’t pick something else up since the area had a lot of debris lying around. I found one screw near my car. Fingers crossed I didn’t. No one spoke good English.
Happy Birthday Barb. Hopefully she got some rest. She looked like a Zombie yesterday.
Bummer about the tire. I thought that I hit something on 285 last week which may have caused me difficulty, but fortunately I didn’t.
If I feel okay, and get motivated, I might wander out of the house to do some non-laundry chores like visiting a bank in order to get small bills for RAGBRAI, and getting a much needed haircut.
Happy birthday, Barb! So begins the July trifecta of ITP birthdays.
As they say in the NFL Draft, I am now on the clock. 🙂
on the clock – I love it.
thanks for the birthday wishes.
…and happiest of birthdays, Barb!!
With all this talk of eye care, let me remind you all to wear protective eyewear when doing chores. The other day I failed to heed this advice and came close to a problem — while weeding! I was pulling weeds and one or more decided it was a good time to jettison some seeds, hitting me in the face and eye. #ShameOnMe
Still ignoring Amazon Prime “Deals”. Yes, it’s mainly because I won’t be around to accept any purchases, but also it’s an effort to stop accumulating things.
My absence also allowed me to ignore the 20% discount on an Ooni pizza oven on which I’ve had my eyes. Do I need a pizza oven? Of course not! But, it would be fun to have one on which I could make my own pies.
I’ve looked at those, but decided we don’t “need” one enough to buy one
“it’s an effort to stop accumulating things”
Heh, just wait until y’all hear what I’ve been up to. I’m not ready to go public just yet, but soon….
I was a total zombie yesterday- went to bed a little after 9pm, and the alarm woke me up at 0715.
BUT- the big news of the day yesterday – we paid off the house!!!!
I tried to do it online, that didn’t work, called Truist – the phone connection wasn’t working well, so we went to the actual bank. I was grouchy (I was so tired) and the 1 banker to help us was busy, so we left & Allan went back without me.
So – that is done – eventually need to figure out how to pay the taxes & insurance on our own.
Well, that’s a nice birthday gift indeed! Congratulations!
Because I thought of escrow as giving the bank a free loan I’ve been paying taxes and insurance on my own for years; it’s simple, but slightly painful.
Woo Hoo! That’s a big one!!
WHOA! That’s amazing! Good for you guys!
Next month I will (finally) pay off the loan on the HVAC I had installed in 2020. It is an interest free loan, as long as I didn’t miss a payment, and I will be happy to have it off my list of responsibilities.
One day I hope I can say the same! Maybe when I’m 90. However, I do pay my own taxes and insurance!
I appreciate y’all reminding me that I needed to pay my damn homeowner’s insurance policy.
I think I need to pay my car insurance – looking that up this afternoon………..
I needed to pay that too. Good grief having a teenager on one’s car insurance policy is a fucking cash grab…Christ.
Switched both my auto and homeowner insurance to monthly payments, which continues to fool me into thinking that the amount I pay for each is reasonable.
I’ve thought about the monthly payments – but – I just put the 6 month charge on my Amex – more FF miles for me.
Congrats Barb! That is huge!
Happy, happy birthday, Barb! What’re your plans?
It’s surprising that you all didn’t get rain, at SAV we sat on the tarmac an extra 25 minutes yesterday because the rain at Hartsfield was so bad they grounded all flights. It must’ve been a specific pocket of rain over south Atlanta.
Nope, it all dissipated as it moved eastward through ITP. I was hopeful because it looked as we’d get a good, short dowsing but it didn’t materialize.
25 minutes in nothing! 😉
we sat for 2.5 hrs on the tarmac leaving ATL a couple weeks ago.
We (as in Allan) are making a Timpano for dinner – we were discussing the movie Big Night a couple weeks ago & Allan decided he wanted to make one.
Its gonna be an experiment – a couple friends will join us to see if it is any good.
A Timpano? WOW! I helped Betsy make one for a party at Andrea’s a long time ago. It wasn’t hard, but it was involved. Good luck and Bon Appétit!
Allan is crazy. But – what the hell…….
I had to Google it (https://www.foodandwine.com/timpano-7975925). Allan is an absolute beast for taking this on.
ours will have meat – & not sure what roasted veggies (if any) – there are so many recipes out there – Allan has been watching videos & reading recipes.
We will see…….
I had also never heard of it. It looks cool, but a lot of work!
Nice link, David. HOLY CATS! That looks involved.
Don’t I know it- flying up to MA in May for my aunt’s funeral we were delayed two hours, then we got on the plane and sat on the tarmac for two hours, then we got off the plane and waited another two hours. 25 minutes yesterday was a breeze!
Do you want to know why I, and others, have deemed that Google Search has become a dumpster fire? I just Googled something and of the five results returned, four were “Sponsored Ads”. Pfft!
Agreed, I never click on the sponsored results. Always scroll past them.
Sammy Hagar was awesome last night! Best part, no crowd and the beer was cheap 🙂
Riding home on the greenway after dark was creepy as hell though, at one point I turned off my light and almost crashed it was so dark.
Bowling tonight and tomorrow night. I have to pre-bowl for next week, thought about doing it tonight but rolling 6 games in a row is a bit much.
Paulie you don’t work, why can’t you go to the laundry during the day?
I can, but I like to get there when it first opens so that I have my choice of machines and the table space required to fold things the way I like to do so.
I’m sure you are surprised to read that I am rather particular about the way I do things. 😀
See also Sheldon from “Big Bang Theory” and “bathroom schedule”!!!
Steve – that just made me laugh
Happy Birthday!
Epic, Steve. 🙂
Sorry, I’ve never seen the show, so your attempted slam has missed the mark this time.
Better luck next time!
but it worked for the rest of us.
Watch the show – its pretty freakin funny – & its got the very attractive Kaley Cuoco for your viewing pleasure.
