I had a busy day yesterday doing many chores, and will have another one today as I prepare to get ready for Spring Tune Up.
Last night I tested out my hip and bicycle by riding the Meltons ride. During the ride my hip felt fine, though the same cannot be said this morning. I will attempt to ride on Friday, and make adjustments for the rest of the weekend based on my level of pain.
It sounds as if one of my favorite podcasts is going away again. I have listened to “On Taking Pictures” since near its inception, and was bummed when one of the people walked away from it in 2018. When I discovered that it had been rebooted in 2022 I was elated and listened to all of the episodes I had missed. This week the guy who quit the podcast in 2018 has intimated that once again he has lost the passion for it, and that the podcast has once again come to a conclusion. Bummer.

– trying to set up electronic transfer between two banks, and Bank A (a major financial institution) seems inept at this. Twice the verification of this transfer has “failed” and my only recourse is to start over again. Fuck off, Bank A! I’m now going to write a check to myself, and try that.
I just had a “Senior Moment”. I have used the same PIN since getting my first ATM card in the 1980s, and couldn’t remember it! I think it’s because I rarely need to enter the PIN now, so it just slipped from my mind.

I meant to mention that I heard a righteous remake of Box of Rain at Fellini’s the other night. Shazam told me that it was by Kurt Vile and the Violators. It’s from an album called Day of the Dead that has literally dozens of indie bands covering Grateful Dead songs. I’ve been surprised by some of the bands in the mix, including Orchestra Baobab (one of my long time favorites). Bunch of dead ants in the camper this morning, taro traps I put in there seem to be doing the job. Hopefully I’m getting ahead of them. Moved the camper to the driveway hoping to cut off the source. Tonight is final clean up, prep, and pack. I’ll be ready to roll in the morning.
Last night we picked up bowling balls for Laura and Travis. If there is ever another chedderhead challenge we will be ready!! Knoll family will dominate!
We almost always spray around the wheels on the camper to hopefully stop them damn ants from climbing up.
Hope they are eradicated.

Yeah, owning a camper is a constant learning experience. I should have put in ant traps when I winterized so lesson learned.
We got the bowling balls at Bowlero in Roswell. The guy in the shop is super nice and made sure the fit was right and even adjusted it on the spot when we bowled a game.
No crazy design but also not a solid color, so sort of fun?

Paulie, my ex’s hip pain started and stayed in a similar way and eventually she had to have a hip replacement. I’m not saying that’s the track you’re on, just that your descriptions are starting to align with a pattern that I’ve seen. It did fix her hip in the end!
Well hopefully it doesn’t come to that for me. I’ll be hanging out with someone who just went through it, so I’ll be chatting to him about his experience.

That is so annoying. I wish all chargers would be standardized. They will be soon, with the EU’s new rule that all chargers need to be USB-C.
I believe the EU has too much influence in matters of technology. The market should dictate innovation, not government.
The problem is the “market” comes up with proprietary bullshit like non-standard adapters. There wouldn’t be anything for the government to weigh in on if tech companies would just do shit right.

What makes people think USB-C is the be all to end all? This is from the same consortium that gave us USB-A, mini-USB, and micro-USB.

It occurred to me to ask it what are the top 5 macros that people ask for help with. I then asked for code for one of the examples, which I could then copy and paste. I’m going to have some fun with this…what are the top 20 worksheet functions in Excel that people ask about? Which Excel features cause people the most frustration? I’ll never have to make up a webinar topic from scratch ever again! 🙂 People are going to think that I can read their minds! 😉

Beautiful ride this morning. I’m logging miles for a Virtual Tevis Cup completion (the equestrian version of Western States) and am up to 21 miles in four rides. It’s a fun way to put miles and conditioning in on the new horse. He’s being very good. We’ve run into some obstacles, but he’s keeping his head about him as he figures them out. I’m really hopeful that he’s going to cut it as a hunt horse.
Appointment with my new primary care doc this afternoon. I hope she is more responsive then the one I’ve been seeing since we moved down. No major issues, but lots of little ones that I sure would love to have resolved.
Good afternoon from Newark. Sadly, I’m stuck at 5 on Wordle with the first, second and fifth letters and not a lot of ideas.
Dinner last night at Tops Diner (Thank you David!). After an Uber fail on pickup, I hoofed it the bit over a mile. It may have been a “diner” when it started out in the 1930’s, but there is not a lot of diner left. An L shaped bar being serverd by 3 bar tenders, probably 40 tables spread across a large area and a patio (not yet open) – some high end entrée’s and some standard diner fare. I had shrimp parmigiana which was excellent. The other choice would have been meat loaf.
Working hard as usual- just now coming up for air to add to the blogosphere.
