Wordle in 3 and was almost 2.

Mowing season has started! I hooked the finish mower up to the tractor and did a little PM on it. Managed to mow along the driveway and avoid hitting any of the new plantings. I noticed last night the front yard has a nice crop of poison ivy popping up!

I did manage to get a good half hour in on the trainer.

Forecast is still a go for Monday.

And I forgot to report I have been invited to go flying with a friend on Sunday. He’s working on his commercial rating, so needs to practice some specific flying. He promised nothing inverted and I promised I wouldn’t throw up ON him.

    • I’ll add your front yard to my long list of places to avoid, as I sit here suffering from the poison ivy/oak I apparently encountered a few weeks ago.

MONDAY. Thank you! I have been wondering what day the eclipse is on but I don’t care enough to actually look it up.

      • Barb says:

I looked it up- should be 82-83% covered here in our area. I found the glasses we had filed away – so at some point in the afternoon I may go outside to look around.

Uneventful day here yesterday for Allan’s birthday.
We have the HVAC tech coming for the spring maintenance, to be sure everything is good. We have had the AC on, so he won’t have to turn it on. But – I think I might need to turn the heat back on tonight.

We were going to go get sushi & ramen at Jinbei Yakitori – but there was a line (its a little place). We jokingly brought along an Olive Garden gift card we’ve had forever (Olive Garden is across the big parking lot) just in case there was a line. Well – Olive Garden was dinner. I know its a chain we all make fun of, but the food is consistent & we had a $50 gift card. We had a cute teenage server that was trying really hard.

  3. I was unaware that WLF would receive 2.5” of rain overnight.

  4. Jenka says:

I managed to wash my car! Since the car wash near my house closed down the next closest is the Swifty way down Moreland. Kevin had gone to Manny’s to watch the Tottenham-West Ham match with one of his boyfriends, so I picked him up on the way down and we had dinner at Spoon after the car wash. Yes, it rained last night but I don’t think that would have washed ALL the pollen off. I can see out my back window now!

  5. Just transplanted six sunflower starts. This is the first time I have tried to grow sunflowers.

  6. I want to start a trend where we refuse to call services by their “new” names. Though I use neither currently, I refuse to call HBO “Max”, and Twitter “X”. Name changing just confuses everyone, of makes people say things like “On X, formerly known as Twitter, someone said…”.

    • Barb says:

I say HBO Max – never just Max. Twitter is still Twitter.

BTW – did you ever get the doc appt scheduled to get all your ailments checked out?
now that you don’t have jury duty……????
Get some prednisone for the poison ivy – it helps. (we have a little jar of it to take every once in a while)

      • Still working on it.

I have scheduled a massage for tomorrow in an attempt to alleviate some of my pain.

First appointment for GP was after STU and going to cost me $200. It’s bad enough I pay over $750/month for healthcare, I still have to fulfill a $6500 deductible prior to getting any benefits. The reason I’ve not scheduled yet, is that it didn’t sound as if this visit I was scheduling was going to be a full physical. I’m not paying $200 just for a meet and greet.

I am still figuring out Kaiser’s system.

      • And though elated to avoid jury duty selection, I was still extremely lethargic due to the current state of my health.

Wordle in TWO. Clean Connections. Strands made me think a little, but not excessively.

I had a fun night out with my new friend Kevin at the bar beneath the Po Boy Shop. Service sucked, but we made the best of it. He got there first and chose a set at a table. I always try to get a seat at the bar, where the service is solid. I can’t remember the last time I had a beer lunch in the afternoon and then went out for beers in the evening as well. I am clearly *not* a hasher. 😉

    • I’m always amazed how many people can get Wordle solutions when the words I consider to be obscure. I had not learned today’s word until later in life when I first started to look into bread baking.

      • David says:

Being an author sometimes, but not always, offers an advantage when it comes to Wordle.

        • Barb says:

I got Wordle in 3 by just plugging in letters – as I had the 1st 3 & the 5th on the 2nd guess. I do not know that word.

          Connections – perfect

    • Barb says:

Stacy lives almost next door to the Po Boy Shop.
I’ve been a couple times, it was ok, but if I remember, the service was pretty spotty then.

      • It has always had spotty service. I’ve been many times, mostly because my friends know a bartender, and have gotten to know the owner now too. Mark, the owner, used to own McCray’s (sp) in Buckhead, and Black Bear Tavern in midtown, both establishments I visited in the past.

        • Barb says:

I remember Mark from Black Bear.
          Interesting bit of trivia.

BTW – we should plan a trivia night somewhere, someday.

          • David says:

I shan’t be a trivia night participant. I’ve unwittingly ended up amidst a couple of trivia nights recently, and it’s a gigantic sensory overload for me. Not only is the moderator blathering away, it seems like the trivia teams are all shouting amongst themselves at the top of their lungs. But I’m good with non-trivia nights!

          • I’m in, depending on the night of course.

          • Barb says:

David – I do know what you mean – like at Bona Fide? Way too loud.
Need to find the right place, that has the proper acoustics of course.

          • David says:

Yes, exactly, that trivia night that we bumbled into at Bona Fide Deluxe was chaotic. It was fine, I rolled with it. I can handle situations like that *far* better than I could have in the past, but in an effort to be kind to myself, I will choose not to insert myself into such situations when it can be avoided.

  8. David says:

ChatGPT can make dad jokes. Who knew?

Me: What’s another punny business name similar to “Nunya Business”?

ChatGPT: A punny business name similar to “Nunya Business” could be “Sure Lock Homes” for a locksmith or security business. This name plays on the famous literary character Sherlock Holmes, making it memorable and humorous.

This AI stuff is an absolute lifesaver against writer’s block. Steve, thank you again for helping me reset my frame of reference. I was bemoaning to Steve that I’m having to learn yet another technology. He replied “Everybody is the same boat with regard to having to learn it.” So true. An old habit crept in, I was personalize something that isn’t personal, so I’m grateful for the reframe.

  9. Steve says:

It’s days like today that make retirement look better and better- just a little Zoom problem between the bank president and CNBC!! Ugh!

  10. Barb says:

went for an almost 3 mile walk – so much stuff blooming!!!

they are doing some gas main line work in one of the neighborhoods – I wonder when ours was last done?
