    Well!

    Wordle in 5.

    After a quick run home, our hay supplier was available so I got in my truck and picked up a round bale and placed it in the hay hut.

    Debbie cajoled me into not working out and going to dinner at a new little hole in the wall in downtown Grantville (don’t laugh). Bob’s Grub Hub (?) where we had catfish- Debbie, a plate and me, a po’ boy. It took a while but it was pretty good. So many fries we brought at least an order home to reheat in the air fryer. They do a big take out business, but we were the only ones seated. I hope they make it.

    My presentation went well- at least I didn’t drop any F bombs (that I recall).

    Cracker-backer this afternoon and then I have to ride..

    What?? Unheard of…no post for today. I thought yesterday you said “I’ll detail the trip tomorrow”. Well tomorrow is today.

    Wordle in 4 starting with GUEST. One mistake in Connections: green, yellow, blue, purple.

    Chance goes home sometime today. He was fun to have around. No Trivia tonight for us.

    Looks like the neighbors are cutting down all their trees. Makes me nervous as now my trees will be more exposed to the winds.

        Matt is out of town. Tara needs to deal with Whiskey. And we suck without Matt! lol So we’re going to do our Wednesday happy hour tonight at Tara’s.

          And I have never understood why people would cut down ALL their trees, unless they are making pasture for horses!

            Yes, I realize it’s Thursday. We do a Wednesday happy hour which didn’t happen yesterday so we moved it to tonight. Tress provide shade and oxygen.

    OK David, I finally have an Excel question for you. I have IP addresses in a stand alone field (ex 10.69.214.20) and I want to extract just the last 2 octets (214.20). I know the RIGHT command, but these are varying lengths- only the first 2 octets (10.69) would be consistent. Any thoughts?

      I’m sure this will make David scream but I would do text to columns deliminated by the period. That would put the numbers in separate columns. Then take the 2 columns and add a period column then smash them together.

        I actually found the SUBSTITUTE command, look for 10.69 and replace it with a space!! Voilla.

        That’s not terrible, Bob, back in the day that was the best option. Newer options include the TEXTSPLIT worksheet function, and TEXTJOIN for putting things back together. For instance, if cell A1 contains 60.64.65.95 then this formula would return 65.95:

        =TEXTJOIN(“.”,TRUE,CHOOSECOLS(TEXTSPLIT(A1,”.”),3,4))

      You can use the Flash Fill feature for this. Insert a blank column next to the IP addresses, and in the cell to the right of the first IP address type 214.20 and press Enter. Arrow back up to that cell and then press Ctrl+E or choose Data | Flash Fill to extract the two octets that you want.

    Busy morning. Started a little late, but I just finished a 39 mile ride which took me about 2.5 hours. It was good, I rode some paved trail I’d never been on previously, and got lost once.

    Wordle in 4 starting with SLASH. Connections with a couple errors. I’m entitled too impatient to do it well.

    Doctor’s appointment this morning and working this afternoon. The vet/friend who runs the clinic is a yeller. It’s annoying, and it really spins everyone up. Otherwise, it’s enjoyable enough.

    The horses still aren’t getting along and keeping them separated is not optimal, but injuries are worse so I’ll stay the course. Nice rides yesterday on both Phinney and Cash. I explored some old trails that need some work. Steve and I will take some loppers and the saw out for a walk and clean things up.

    Spring is in the air for sure. Sandhill cranes flew over yesterday.
